F1 2018 game and the future

kingmjjkingmjj Member, Drivers Co-Driver
I really wonder how Codemasters are going to sell f1 2018 this year. It’s about time the community is fed up of half-arsed games every year that a riddled with bugs and end up worse than when they started. Time and time we get told to communicate with codies so they can fix things and they never do. The SC glitch has been in the game since September and nothing has been done it’s quite frankly embarrassing. Yesterday was the final straw seeing the SC in one shot quali.

I think it’s bad business practice that codies have already moved on from their complete horror show of f1 2017 to go to 2018 and most certainly produce another instalment on bugs and glitches then tell us to communicate with them then stop fixing bugs in November to work on 2019.
If this company is ever to succeed in making a video game and earning the respect back of their buyers they should have scrapped 2018 and fixed 2017 so it’s at least playable or worth the full triple AAA title price we payed for it. At least then they’ll have a good foundation for the next game too. As for now I’m no longer buying f1 games until well later into the year when I’ve heard reviews or probably won’t end up buying at all

Pretty sure their licensing contract dictates that they have to release a game each year. So what are they supposed to do? Don't work on it and release it even later or not at all, like some people recommended? Like that's even an option, what a dumb thought. That's gonna kill them, trust me.

If that is the case, they could easily clarify their relationship towards the FOM and the issues with licencing in general to the community in great detail if they cared enough about strengthening / maintaining the trust of their customers that is, but as evidently seen they never really did.

So all we can do is speculate and take the little bits and pieces of info we get.

Either way, in regards of speculations and hypothetical solutions being conceived by the community, making F1 2018 become a DLC content for F1 2017 is one of the best paths to be taken in order to put all effort into F1 2019, a path that will grant them more freedom and time to settle especially as Codemasters currently do not have the manpower nor the financial stability of a huge company such as SONY / Microsoft / Nintendo / Square Enix / Ubisoft / EA / Activision etc.

Also seeing as they are going to be floating in the economical jigsaw of huge shareholders that are very likely going to support them due to the increase in interest, the only year they can get more done is the one where they will indeed become a public company, but as no actual info on this development is available as of right now other than the fact that Codemasters is at the verge of opening up, we can only eagerly wait for more info and see how this plays out.

PS: Even when they do become a public company with a larger financial support, their future shareholders interests will very likely determine whether or not high quality production value is going to be set as a standard, so we can't get our hopes up.

PPS: The last resort for any customer with the simple wish of getting a high quality product is boycott.

Partially disagree here. 2018 should not be a DLC for 2017. The idea is good, but shouldn't be executed like it. We can start doing that once we get a new, more modern engine. The current one is just getting old, and maybe it could even help them with the game.

Im not an expert and I agree a few things in this game are wrong....

But I love F1 2017.....im on the Xbox One X with the Steering wheel and pedals and even though some parts of the game are not spot on....most parts in my opinion are done correct and I am still enjoying playing this game.

I love the new upgrades you can do to the car to make it better and the way it takes many seasons to max out the car...gives you something to aim for.

I agree but then you play multiplayer. All that is basically ruined by the fact I have an SC on a qualifying hot lap, or the slipstream glitch when someone leaves, or when the host leaves mid race and the 5 red lights come on while you’re driving, or the SC coming out every 3 laps, or cars spawning on top of each other on the grid, or everyone’s names in the sessions becoming to do, or some person being spawned a lap ahead of everyone. See where I’m going with this? It’s a decent game that’s been ruined by so many bugs and glitches it takes the spotlight from the actual game

No, F1 2017 is dead, not much point fixing it, the damage is done. They need to move onto 2018 and do it PROPERLY (online that is) @F1Support

Does anyone else think the time trial times should be split into assists and no assists, as it would give people a more even way of seeing where they stand, for example I can get in the top 4,000 on some tracks with no assists and a wheel, but when I look at who is around me in terms of times most have assists on, so I can’t tell who is close to me on no assists weather they have a pad or not.
  • ilikefastilikefast Member Wheel Nut
I use pad and use no assists and then get into top 100 in the world. I agree it would be useful to see if the people ahead of you use wheel or not

There was a reason provided previously for why they cannot do this. There is a limited amount of data they can save and download to people's in game leader-boards. Probably why people have had issues around the end of lap updates being sent to leader-boards crashing games etc.

yes you may very well have bugs that ruin your gameplay, but keep in mind not all of us is seeing a mountain of bugs affecting our gameplay. Wether its from not playing the modes you do or for whatever reason. So you cant really just conclude this game and future games are doomed because of this game performance across all players.

Online needs to be fixed or dropped. That part is a joke, the rest I haven't found an issue

Delay the launch till March so at least we can play a whole season with the current driver setup, or fix the bugs and give updates for drivers cars etc can't be that hard surly...
