That Livery Editor is nice, I wish we could have that in the PC Version too.

Can we port the Multiplayer code from this game to the PC version? It probably works better.

Seems maybe Liberty’s actually made the move to allow livery changes.. hopefully this means potential custom teams, liveries, and better damage models soon, though im not hoping for too much in 2018

Well we have had an official F1 game with livery editor and custom teams before, so it's nothing new really.

the F1 licence gives the usage of the official teams, drivers, likeness, tracks and all adverts contained therein (this includes adverts on cars and drivers helmets) while the FOM may allow or disallow custom liveries/fictional teams, they CAN NOT enforce a damage model (or lack thereof).
the myth that the games damage model is per the FOM's instruction is ludicrous. it is solely a Codemasters decision. (better damage model = more programing etc)

Hold on... so are Codies saying FOM dont allow livery editing unless its done on touchscreen?

Have codies commented on why livery editor does not exist on console/pc?
One is the officially licensed game of the F1 2018 season, the other is just a licensed F1 product. So essentially, the same reason there were sumo wrestlers on the track in F1 Race Stars.
Braked: the past tense of brake.
Broke, brokenanything within reach when I hear racing gamers say 'broke' instead of 'braked'.

And yet, all their non-F1 games have much better damage modelling, so they know how to do it and have already done most of the work. But yes, laziness is surely the real answer.

they have done some titles with very impressive damage modeling. Those cars are made from the usual deform-able metals and the like.
to make realistic formula 1 car crashes, they  would need to figure out a completely different damage model with how F1 cars break apart being they are pretty much 100% carbon fibre (various mechanical parts not withstanding) and the cockpits are pretty much indestructable.
the suspensions collapses are there, but no sidepod, barge board, rear wing, or entire nose cone loss.
if you  break down the damage from a crash (solo or with other cars) suspensions collapse is 1/3 of the crash damage..
so yeah, not having the sidepod, barge board, and rear wings included in major bingles...is lazy.

I haven't really seen any Codemasters game with actually good damage. For example GRID Autosport's indycars are just as bad with the damage model. Maybe more cosmetic damage, but that's really all. Then you get some random gearbox damage which doesn't affect anything.

Anyways what games have Codemasters Birmingham done aside from F1 games?

    Grid 1 had great damage.

The 'officially licensed game of the F1 2018 season'...
With a career that goes years into the future, where you are the only driver to move teams...whilst the poor driver you replace happily takes a sabbatical until you return.

The new game includes rule changes which shakes up the competitive order!....yet 3 years down the line, drivers dont move teams, car liveries dont change...

Almost sounds unofficial if you ask me.

After doing some digging Grid 1 was made by Codemasters Malaysia https://www.digitalnewsasia.com/digital-economy/uk-based-codemasters-has-aggressive-plans-its-malaysia-studio

Don’t know how nobody has brought this up yet, but I have been playing this game frequently since learning of the following. If you switch to the Thai Appstore and I believe the Phillipenes Appstore also works then you can download F1 Mobile Racing and play it for yourselves. Maybe it is the lack of players right now but I am finding it p*ss easy :D Good driving model for mobile and the decision to have a dumbed down damage model is a good one considering the games main incentive is online real time racing!

    666th view.....

    ------------------------------

Is there a possibility that we will get a similar, or a actual official, HUD update for the big brother of this title, F1 2018, as a patch at a later date, or is such a enormous amount of sweat and effort towards reworking the HUD and showing commitment to represent the sports correctly only feasible for the next installment of the F1 franchise, F1 2019?

PS: When will we get some additional unlockable accessories for our custom driver such as: balaclavas / kneepads / shoes / helmets / helmet decals / visor tints / gloves / new avatars / baseball caps or flat caps / tattoos / nose rings / piercings / ear rings / hair styles and dye / new fonts to write custom messages and names etc. on our racing overalls or helmets / new podium celebrations etc.?

Customization surely could get a big step up to increase the value of individuality and the reason to grind the game.

These "features" could be locked behind a progression bar and or a ingame shop where we pay ingame currency to unlock these accessories.

Currency could be earned through SP & MP where clean and fast no assists drivers will get the most XP and a higher cash multiplier to progress much faster than those that can't drive without assists / are painfully slow / or dirty drivers in general.

Imho those driving unclean and or trying to deliberately take out their opponents should have to pay up the penalties with their "hardearned" ingame cash and be punished by a massive loss of XP points to compensate for their overaggressiveness / stupidity (tbh repeat offenders should get a time limited ban alltogether and be deranked to keep racing as clean as possible).

Many opportunities to dig into the shining light of "challenge" and enforce people to become fast as well as clean no assists drivers.

I’m sure a lawyer could construct a solid argument for why they can disallow it. Damage could be considered 1) defacing sponsor livery or 2) inaccurately representing the cars, both of which I believe contravene the agreement. AFAIK, the decision is FOM’s though, not the teams, since they practically sign all rights to marketing to FOM (Liberty now)
