F1 2018 MultiGPU / Crossfire performance.

Anyone stuttering problem (fps 20-37fps) on Radeon Pro Duo and 295X2 graphics cards? This stuttering happens everytime when i play. I have latest official drivers and now using latest beta driver. Maybe some glitch on Crossfire support? or do you (Codemasters) support Crossfire on this game? Same problem was F1 2017 but patch files fix it later.. hope this problem is similar and get patch soon.

And now confirm that if someone has stutter or shocking low fps disable Crossfire and you get decent 50-60fps. It would be nice if codemaster notify this and make some improvement to Crossfire/radeon support. Because this uses same engine as 2017 and there this same problems was fixed very quickly. Otherwise good job for this game ;)

I have 2 AMD RX-480 cards in a crossfire configuration and I can't get above 32fps unless I dial all of the settings to "High" and make the screen resolution 1920x1080 and not the 2560x1440 the monitor is capable of. Free-sync doesn't help nor does the 144hz refresh rate. I downloaded the latest AMD drivers and nothing improved.  Just as a comparison, I get 87fps in F1 2017.

Since I downloaded this game last night, I am going to go out on a limb and say there is a patch coming to fix this. I don't believe I should have to have more video horsepower to run at a decent frame rate.

First of all just wanted to say "Thank you Codemasters for this fantastic game"!. I really enjoy it. But sadly I have those crossfire issues as well. Last title of this series was F1 2016 which worked excellent for me. I have 2 Radeon R9 290. Please fix this performance issue, thank you.

Please can you confirm what driver versions you are running?
  • VrjssaVrjssa Member New Car Smell
Hopefully Codemasters make patch for this soon. Also you should report for AMD also this. Comparison i get 70-120fps in F1 2017 Crossfire enabled.

Now Adrenalin Edition 18.8.1 and same result Adrenalin Edition 18.5.1 version. If i dsable Crossfire i get ~ 60fps but enabled Crossfire i get 20-30fps :(
If any help Processor is 1920X but game works fine for cpu and no problems otherwise. Only this Crossfire related.
  • MarcusS2MarcusS2 Member New Car Smell
I have tried driver version 18.3.3 currently. As far as I have seen there are no optimizations in latest 18.8.1 for F1 2018. Shall I have a try with this nonetheless?

More observations by me: I'll have to activate "ambient occlusion" in graphics settings otherwise i'll have texture flickering. And if I turn on TAA for anti aliasing then framerate drops to half - thus anti aliasing doesn't work in crossfire mode at all. My current setting for crossfire mode is "AFR compatible".

Please, please fix this crossfire issue.

Try change Crossfire settings Adrenalin Edition 18.8.1 link below is image if that help?  This force F1 2018 to use F1 2017 AMD pre-defined crossfire profile and remember disable FreeSync if possible. Let me know if it help.

@Vrjssa Thanks for this hint but it doesn't work for me. Currently I have set crossfire mode to "afr compatible" which increases performance. At least it's higher fps than with single card.

Hello All. The F1 2018 profile won't be available until a future driver update. In the mean time, try using the F1 2017 profile in the current AMD drivers. Our internal tests show significant performance increases when using crossfire with these settings. If you are still having problems then let us know and we'll run some additional tests.
  • MarcusS2MarcusS2 Member New Car Smell
@Hoo Thank you for takting care of this problem. So there will be a driver update which includes a crossfire profile then by AMD?

Can someone else confirm this performance hint by using the F1 2017 crossfire profile? I had a try already yesterday and performance was still a ****. But I will repeat it maybe this evening.

    Try without crossfire.

I can get 100 to 120 fps on a RX480 with high setting at 1920x1080.

    processor is an i7-7700k

having said this, often the game will drop to 60hz and lock there. A friend has exactly the same issue.

so there are some odd things going on in there

@Hoo Just gave it another try using F1 2017 crossfire profile in F1 2018. Sadly this doesn't work for me in terms of performance. It's worse. Best is when using "AFR compatible". Nonetheless I hope for a specific F1 2018 crossfire profile.

@TeenierNeilb69 What are you talking about? We have Crossfire systems ( @Vrjssa @BruceBass ) and want to see the performance accordingly. You're talking about FullHD resolution but mine is higher (4k) thus i need a lot of performance. If you're bored then please troll anywhere else, thank you. This is no offense - I just think this is not the correct place for you to be.

The point was more try it without crossfire on a single and see if you get an improvement before you put the issue down to crossfire.

Same text was the end last year review F1 2017 game but it still works with Crossfire mode and uses both cards.

Thank you Hoo notice for this thread. I use exactly those settings and it seems to work but clearly need profile. I confirm performance increase for this advice Radeon Pro Duo and Radeon 295x2 cards.

Lates AMD driver are out: Adrenalin Edition 18.8.2 Beta driver https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-strangebrigade

Yeah, I saw this release as well. But AMD doesn't mention F1 2018 in their release notes... :( I doubt that it will change the situation with this new driver. My hopes are for september release.
  • MarcusS2MarcusS2 Member New Car Smell
@Vrjssa What I am wondering: Why can you increase your performance on 295x2 card with using profile of F1 2017? On my machine (2 x R9 290) i can see that both cards are utilized but alternating. Thus performance doesn't increase. Did you try to set crossfire mode to "AFR compatible" in Radeon driver? That increased performance quite well - i am curious to hear if this works for you as well.
