F1 2017 Handling............

hockeytown1926hockeytown1926 Member Unleaded
I hope to god Codies move away from the garbage handling system that was in 2016! 2016 the cars feel like they are driving on ice, have zero aero in high speed corners,no bit in the tyres, zero sense of feeling, awful controller handling and horrible slow steering response.Haven't played 2016 much since I bought it because of this.I played it again today after 5-6 months and it still shocks me how bad it is.But seeing as the same people are testing the game (Yeah people that have never driven an F1) I'm expecting the same thing.

Buy a wheel then @hockeytown1926 . It was the best handling, but this completly senseless complaining about the handling...... Are you complaining  because you can't drive fast or what? Can you tell me your fastest lap in Australia, huh? My best time was a 1:24,001 (in a league race, qualifying session, strict rules) and  I felt the grip.

Why do I care even about this thing!? Oh yeah it's always funny to hear people complaining about this lol.

I don't care too much what happened in the past. I prefer to focus on what is coming next and I am really looking forward to it.

Simply racing a Formula 1 car is an achievement.

You can't change what happened. But you can still change what will happen.

1:24:001?, jeez I'm 1:25:2. Anyway the point of you complaining about f1 2016 is pointless since f1 2017 is on the horizon. So deal with it because f1 ain't getting no patches anymore

But seeing as the same people are testing the game (Yeah people that have never driven an F1) I'm expecting the same thing.

    So you HAVE driven F1?
You remember when you first came to my office? I asked you, "Do you want to be an eagle, or do you want to be a **** bird?" And you said "I want to be an eagle".
You got to be what you say you're going to be, which you aren't.
You got to do what you say you're going to do, which you haven't.

What's 'an f1' anyway? I've heard of an f1 car but not an f1.

Maybe you should drop the controller and try a wheel. Although F1 2016 isn't perfect the handling is not horrible.

I have to say that the handling with a fanatec CSL is amazing.  The handling with my old Fantec CSR was rubbish (however I think the wheel was dying a slow death).  The difficulty in balancing handling between wheel and pad is that pad users don't have as much control with the acceleration and braking.  So the solution all games use is to give you more ABS and traction (even when assists are off).  This then gives you an advantage over someone who is driving with a wheel.  Also the turning circle of a pad is naturally tighter again because of the lack of axis movement so again they have to add saturation to help even the playing field.  Ask a wheel user to go from straight to full lock left of right as quick as they can and it will take them let's say 0.1 seconds well a pad would do this in 0.01 which is unrealistic.  Maybe codies can add sliders to control some of these "assists" a little so you can Taylor it to your liking more but if you lower your saturation for turning then this should automatically adjust your traction and abs.  As you user then you are deciding  I'm an expert driver and I want the twitchy car handling because it's faster so the game should say ok fine but we are removing the safety net and now you are going to have modulate your acceleration and braking more as well.

So because you can't handle or setup the car properly it's our fault.

The salt from some people last year was unbelievable, accusing us of all being 12 year old kids who know nothing about racing or handling and that we were going to completely ruin the game, acting like they could single-handedly make it perfect. If only they could see the amount of precise and detailed feedback given by everybody it would shut them up, so it would be no surprise to see the same amount of salt from the same people again this year.

    I'm 12 and I've done a 1:23.339 in TT at Australia, so I wouldn't take accusation of 12 year-oldism as an insult
