Following our announcement of the official videogame of the 2017 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ and the information that classic F1 cars are making their glorious return to the series, everyone seems to be very excited about F1 2017 landing this August! Sure, we’ve also got an even deeper career mode, numerous multiplayer enhancements, and a brand new ‘Championships’ game mode – but we know that you’d all like to know what other classic cars will be joining the the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 (as driven by Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna), the 1992 Williams FW14B (raced by Nigel Mansell and Riccardo Patrese), and the 2002 Ferrari F2002 (piloted by Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher).

So, on that note, we’re absolutely delighted to unveil the 2010 Red Bull Racing RB6 as the fourth classic F1 car that will feature in the game:

Hit play on the brand new trailer showcasing the World Constructors’ Championship-winning 2010 Red Bull Racing RB6, as driven by the 2010 World Champion Sebastian Vettel and team mate Mark Webber. As you may have suspected, further classic cars will be revealed in the coming weeks – so keep your eyes on our blog and our social channels for those as they arrive.

For those of you who don’t know too much about this beautiful car, let us tell you a little more about its history. The Red Bull Racing RB6 was an incredibly dominant car, with nine wins, 15 pole positions and six fastest laps across the 2010 Championship season.

Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing said: “The RB6 is our first Championship winning car, and as such is very special to us. 2010 was a dream year for Red Bull Racing, to achieve our ambition and to do so in such a compelling and dominant fashion was a fitting testament to the car, the drivers and commitment of the team. We are delighted the RB6 is included in the new F1 game as a classic car, it’s certainly a classic to us and I’m sure gamers will love driving it and trying to recreate those golden moments on track.”

Those of you who pre-order or pick up Day One copies of F1 2017 will have exclusive access to the iconic 1988 McLaren MP4/4, as part of the ‘F1 2017 Special Edition.’ Alternatively, the McLaren MP4/4 car will be available to be purchased at a later date. However, please rest assured that the eleven other classic cars are available in all editions of the game.

YES! So glad you include one of the younger cars in your classic content! We had enough cars from the 80s in F1 2013 so I'm really excited and looking forward to other F1 cars from the early 2000s  :)

I was hoping that between 2010 and 13 would make it into the game.  With more still to come I'm pumped

I think the F10 would have been better, because that year, that was the championship leading car in the end, even though Ferrari made a massive mistake in Abu Dhabi with the Strategy... (but mainly because the V8 Ferrari Engine made a special music and you know instantly, that This IS a Ferrari. :)

I am also excited about classic cars, but we need more information about the game it self, what is this new championship mode? What is included in this even deeper career mode? I am asking that because I am afraid that we will have bad surprises like we've had before when codemasters focused on new features and removed like Friday free practices and safety car

Fair enough, it's a car that did well, but it doesn't feel "classic" to me, as it's in a Codemasters game already :-D

That's a great car! I hope you add some 2000-2009 cars, especially 2006 Renault, 2008 Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes, 2009 Brawn GP ^_^

Literally EVERYONE who has EVER existed wants that brawn gp in the game. So if we don't have EVERYONE who EVER existed will be VERY angry.

Yes, the Ferrari F10 would have been good, but as a Ferrari fan I have to say the RB6 was overall better. As for the sound, well nothing agains a V8, but the true Ferrari engine sound is the V12  <3

Indeed as tempting as it is until I know more on this front it's a no deal from me I like the F1 games but after what happened with the R&D stuff I'd like to know what we're getting before I buy it I don't want them just saying we have an even deeper career mode all the time I want details like how is it deeper and moer involving what have you done to improve it?

Not telling you everything up front is how Marketing Departments "build hype", "keep you engaged via target channels" etc. Whether or not you think that works, unfortunately we just have to live with it, just like we've lived with it every other year...
Braked: the past tense of brake.
Broke, brokenanything within reach when I hear racing gamers say 'broke' instead of 'braked'.

Yeah I agree but I know I'm not going to order the game until we have that info

Technically that was in a Codemasters F1 game... On the Wii :-p

It's just a shame Codemasters can't include more than one season in a game (apart from F1 2015 having the 2014 season in it too), otherwise you could have a proper deep career mode, starting in 2009 and running until 2017+!

    Awesome

If you use ABS or Traction Control, you are no longer a racing driver.

    1512Marcel

And suddenly I realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension.

I wouldn't call the RB10 "classic" generally the term classic is referred to cars that are over 10 years old. Vintage maybe something over 50 years old.

Personally I'd like to see something from Jordan Benetton Arrows Ligier Minardi or at a push Super Aguri from 2007

How many different racing lines will you take

    I'm taking a wild guess here - 3 cars from the 80s, 3 cars from the 90s, 3 cars from 2000-2005, + 1 each from 2008, 2009, and 2010?

Hoping for the '09 Brawn. But they'll probably reveal that one last since it's the one car everybody wants.
