Happy Friday all! And welcome to another DiRT 4 Road Book. It’s been a quiet few weeks, with us still hard at work on the forthcoming Clubs patch - but we just wanted to check in on you and see how you’re all doing.

Those of you playing on PC will have noticed that patches v1.06 – v1.063 have arrived in pretty quick succession this last week, so we’re sorry for the inconvenience that might have caused you! To cut a long story short, we had to introduce a couple of hot fixes to address issues that arose from the initial update. However, we’re happy we’re in a good place now - so apologies for the interruption, and please crack on. Here’s a quick summary of the updates...

Feature improvements:

- Added full Japanese language support, including: text, subtitles and audio.
- Bug fixes and refinements to improve the quality across all written languages.
- Improved anti-cheat detection for Joyride leaderboards.
- Fearless difficulty modified so it allows all types of manual gears.
- Improved system for storing and re-uploading Community Event times when RaceNet is unavailable.
- Staff contracts now reduce at their expected rate in Pro Tour and Jam Session.
- Pro Tour scoring is now more consistent.
- ‘Up and Up’ achievement will now unlock when you get promoted to any tier in Pro Tour.

Crash fixes:

- Improved stability across the game.

General fixes:

- Added the ability to configure unsupported devices. If you are already using an unsupported device, you will need to rebind any custom changes.
- Fixed car wheels and suspension popping in the Service Area.
- Fixed Mailbox specific issues.
- Fixed an issue that caused some Community Events results to become invalidated.
- Fixed an issue with Delta Daily results.

You can get the full patch notes for each update over on Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/app/421020/allnews/). Better news still, we’re lining up similar fixes for our next console patch too – so more news on an ETA for that when we have more information!

F1 2017 – the Career trailer

One of the reasons it’s been quiet on the DiRT 4 front is because a lot of us in the office have been focusing our efforts on the wonderful F1 2017. We released our Career Mode trailer just yesterday – so if you’ve not seen that yet, we can catch up with it here:

We know a lot of you are off-road purists, so you’re welcome to skip over this – but if you’re a motorsports and simulation fan, then you’re going to want to watch this. ;)

 Screenshot of the Week

Our favourite screenshot this week is this cracker from dgeesio! Look at that stunningly lit Welsh landscape. Hubba hubba.

Video of the Week

We’re all about Wales this week! This lovely twilight run through the countryside is a stunner when it comes to apex-grazing and foot-to-the-floor rallying.

And that’s all for this week’s short and sweet entry! We’ll see you back here soon with some meatier chat about Clubs ‘n’ stuff. We know you’re all craving some more info on what’s going on, but our hands are a little tied with what we can talk about right now – so a huge thanks for your patience! We’re still here, we’re still working hard, and yes – we’re still listening.

I´ve no problems with the D4-physics and find them better than in DR, but the stages are just not challenging enough in D4. Low-grip Rallys like Greece and Monte Carlo, the crazy Finland stages and hairpin-Baumholder are just not there anymore plus VR-support, which should be mandatory nowadays. I understand that the grip on gravel can be very different from driving MTB. My trails at home are more like Wales and i have lots of grip when it´s dry, but in Greece there is incredible low grip most of the tracks so very different. The gravel here is like glued in the mud and the tyres can bite like gears. In Greece the surface is pure stone with sometimes only a very thin layer of sand upon it. There are no tyres for that like they are no tyres that can bite on snow/ice plus tarmac like Monte Carlo. The car-physics in both titles are IMO very similar, but since my Oculus Rift arrived, Dirt 4 is dead for me anyway.

Any plans to hold Founder Invitational Event again or give another way to get Hyundai R5 exclusive livery? I missed the event and couldn't get the livery. If we can't get the livery forever, that's too nonsense.

You can buy it as a DLC now.

I think he is talking about the livery, not the car.

I'm not a super regular visitor to these forums but I do get the impression that user input regarding how best to take this game forward does seem to be acknowledged by developers, yet from all the excellent ideas, suggestions and general feedback given I don't ever recall anyone bringing clubs into any topic of conversation. It just seems a little strange for Codemasters spend valuable time and resources implementing something that nobody seems to want. Or perhaps i'm completely missing the point here.

@ChristinaMc will Dirt4 ever support SLI like DR did?

The way I understand it, Clubs is kind of a given – I think they've pretty much always said they're going to introduce it. I also think the, er, passion over the physics issue has surprised them a bit.

Thanks. I'm waiting for the solution.

Clubs is, pretty much, like Leagues in DiRT Rally. Hopefully, Clubs will have more, and better, options / features integrated into it.
