F1 2017 PS4 (Pro): graphic issues

JayJay686JayJay686 Member Wheel Nut
Hi. I've bought a ps4 pro and i was lucky to get f1 2017 already today (patch 1.03 installed)

I've noticed that there are problems with the Graphics. Sometimes the textures of the helmets and Gloves are not sharp! Sometimes its fine sometimes not. And its even changed during a race! Its also affect AI cars. You can see it in the replays. Furhermore the pit crew is affected. The clothes. Its very disappointing on a ps4 pro!
Also in cutscenes e.g. before Qualifying starts the Racesuits have this "blurred textures".

I had this also on a ps4 with f1 2016 but only with the pit crews.

You can see this effect on the video test of 4players on youtube for f1 2016 when Button gets off his car on a cutscene! The helmet is "pixeled".

What can I do?? This is very annoying :-(

I tried already to turn off and on HDR but no difference..

I hope you can understand the problem. English is not my first language ;-)

I'm not expert but you most likely can't do anything as it's probably either pushing the console to it's limits, it's a coding issue, or you need glasses...

He doesn't. It's an issue that seems to happen randomly, both on PS4 and PS4 Pro. Hopefully it can be fixed

    Thx for confirming!
They MUST fix it. In F1 2016 it was "ok" as it only appears during pitstops and at cutscenes at the end of the race when the mechanics celebrate the race win.
But in 2017 its way to much and NOT ACCEPTABLE imo when you see those pixeled helmets and gloves the whole race :-(

@Hoo @Jayjay686 I'm having the same issue on regular PS4, it seems to be career specific. A lot of textures don't load, so the gloves, helmets, characters, etc ( including the player's ) stay extremely row-les for the whole GP weekend and for the duration of each session, even during cut scenes.

The test of 4players is online and they confirm this too. It appears since patch 1.03...

"Probleme bereiten vor allem seit dem aktuellen Patch 1.03 auch die Texturendetails: Schichten bei den ohnehin recht grob modellierten Gesichtern von Personen, Sticker auf Helmen und Anzügen oder teilweise auch Bäumen sowie anderen Objekten am Streckenrand werden entweder verspätet oder gar nicht mehr rechtzeitig nachgeladen."

It says that textures are getting loaded  either to late or dont get loaded. Same for objects like trees etc...

Lets Cross our fingers the CM will patch this asap!

das problem hab ich auch @JayJay686

Weiss man eigtl ob vettel zb noch schwarze handschuhe bekommt?
Und zb in monza gibt es fast keine werbebanden?!?

I played last night from launch for 2 hours and my helmet went low res in FP2. Was the same in FP3. Quit the game before qualifying and loaded back in and was fine for qualifying. Seems the only workaround for now.

Bestimmt! Bottas' 77 auf dem Auto ist zB auch noch rot statt blau. Wobei mich diese Texturfehler aktuell viel mehr ärgern!

I recognized after a few races and Q sessions that its totally random when the textures are fine or not. In one race I've had even a pitstop where the overalls of the crew where fine and in a lot of other races the helmets of the whole line-up of drivers where pixeled. Its annoying!

I noticed the same on regular PS4 - very annoying to have low-res textures pop up like that

@jennyannem is this on the agenda for the next patch or will there be a quick fix?

This needs to be addressed as soon as possible. I will get the game later today, I pre-ordered it months ago. I was looking forward to finally play it today but this just destroys a lot of the anticipation. I'm totally supporting everyone at codies and I really thank you for the hard work...but stuff like this is really unfortunate. I could live with it in 2016 because it was minor and it faded...but if this really is that big an issue, it becomes gamebreaking character.

As soon as I have the game I will keep an eye on it and will post screens in the technical forum.

To be honest it's noticeable but hardly gamebreaking. You notice its low res but then concentrate on racing and you dont really notice. Maybe its my helmet design. That may impact it more or less...

@Sadler I disagree! I'm playing a 2017 game on a ps4 pro and I see the whole race a pixeled helmet and gloves which looks like made with Microsoft paint on a Windows95 PC?! No way sorry!
Yes its no reason for quit playing but its very annoying imo! Futhermore I like the cut scenes before and after the race and its silly to see those pixeled Shirts from the crew or even the racesuits on the Podium which are also pixeled sometimes!

Read my last comment. I think the colours and design of your custom helmet will affect how noticeable it is.

For me I can tell straight away its low res but it's not something catching my eye.

Does need fixing ASAP though, I agree. As for cut scenes it was the same in F1 2016. I fear they are pushing the limits and it will be hard to fix.
  • JayJay686JayJay686 Member Wheel Nut
No as I only choose real drivers until now ;-)
It dont depend on the custom helmet...

"Gamebreaking" might be the wrong word, you are right on that. But I read reviews in which they've said that trees and other objects are affected as well, so even if I concentrate on the racing at hand, I also notice the surroundings.

In all honesty I bought a PS4 pro to have better graphics. I was lucky with F1 2016 because the framerate was so much better. But this angers me. I spend a lot for the pro and still have this issues. But I'm confident that they will patch it. Let's just post examples.

Not noticed objects from the game world low res. Cut scenes yes, helmets sometimes. I've read gloves as well but they are hard to see from the Sauber cockpit on the custom camera angle I am using.

    @Sadler ;

Check out Grand Prix mode with real drivers. I bet 5 out of 8 races you wil have those issues.
Check out cutscenes and gloves and helmets in race. You can use different camera angles in replay. Also notice that you can start with high resolution and it gets down during the race!!

Normal PS4. Im not saying its not happening. Its happening on my game and it needs fixing. All im saying is that it doesnt stop you playing the game in my opinion.

bad news... :s  I hope that it is possible to get a small update before the weekend. Patch 1.03 must have created this, because there were no reports before that
