F1 2017 - The Killer Game.

Last night I wrote an email to Codemasters Customer Service explaining my disappointment in this years game. I wasn't expecting a great email back, but I just had to vent and make sure that they know.

Frankly F1 2017 and the last 3 F1 games have been an embarrassment. F1 2015 was riddled with bugs on release and online wasn't playable, F1 2016 was a step in the right direction with fewer bugs and a relatively raceable online, but still quite a few bugs. F1 2017 was like F1 2015 again, sure career mode is cool and fancy, but that's all there is. Online barely works and fundamentals like the Safety Car and damage model don't work properly. It's a joke and a great shame that Codemasters continue to release F1 games that simply aren't finished.

Below is a Twitter link (which isn't me) where someone has said pretty much everything that needed to be said, and they're not the only person to do so.

F1 2017 is quickly killing league racing, take AOR as an example. There are people dropping out like crazy, because the game simply doesn't work and people aren't enjoying it.

I refuse to buy F1 2018 or any other F1 game in the future that is made by Codemasters, unless there is a massive improvement, because it is a waste of money.

Great thing about opinions. Everyone has one and most of them stink.

Also, is Chicken Little required reading these days?

The trouble is, people have been coming on here since F1 2014 saying that, and their sales have improved every year since.

...which is exactly why the game is just as unstable as it was then, why the disjointed comminucation on the forum continues, why bugs have remained in the game that have been present for years... And most importantly why codemasters have seen it acceptable to release a game with so many (I wont say bugs or glitches before the keyboard warriors get excited)...issues, year on year on year. Im done with them!

Like I said in a previous post, here's to patch 1.11, 1.12 (2018) and so on.

Going downhill is not quite correct. I think 2017 is the best by far actually.
T-Cam is a driving assist. It doesn't matter if you think it's not, just because it's not found in the assist setting. Git gud.

F1 2017 is a genuinely very good game with huge online bugs that totally ruin the experience for online players. The thing is, most of the people aren't interested in multiplayer at all, because I've just seen F1 2017 won GOTY Award on RedBull Games... and now I can see why Codemasters never fix their games. It seems like we're a minority :/

The Red Bull GOTY is pointless. Most people who really follow Red Bull Racing are F1 fans, so of course they would vote for F1 being the best. Forza 7 is miles better in every way except for AI, imo. Graphics, handling, production quality.

How in the hill does Liberty accept this though? They are pushing for eSports yet they have a game developer who can't publish something to satisfy either career mode or online players... It's quite silly. Hopefully Liberty puts more pressure onto Codemasters to do a proper job next year, or threatens to revoke the license. I'm sure there are performance clauses in there, regardless of term, so I think no one should buy next year's game until it is proven that there are no game-breaking bugs.

We hear all the time of F1 drivers complaining about not being able to pass due to the wake of the car in from of them, why would you think the game would be any different and give you slipstream. That is what the DRS is for in F1.
No assists, no ttc, cockpit view... keeping it 100%

Imagine if we had a day without one of these retarded, attention-seeking threads. Yes, the game has many bugs, but it's far from unplayable.

That's a given, any gaming forum is a tiny echo chamber compared to the number of people actually playing the game. I'd wager the vast majority of people who bought F1 2017 are either unaffected by or (more importantly) don't care about the sort of stuff people come on here to complain about. Or at least, don't care enough to spoil their enjoyment.

Agreed. And you only need to google F1 2017 game review to see that in general it's a highly regarded game.

Have something quite disgusting to say: The beta was even better than the actual full game.
Not gonna lie this is true lol

But the thing is, we had the multiplayer beta which was a step in the right direction, but it's like they never did anything with it, because online is still laggy, desync is still a thing and they amount of bugs there are is ridiculous. The Safety Car doesn't even work fgs, how do they release a game where fundamentals such as the SC don't work?

It wasn't really a fair review though. Reviewers it seems were provided free copies of the game with certain aspects locked and certain things they therefore could not fully review.

    Reviews to me read like..

"Wow. Codemasters have really excelled tyhemselves. They've brought back some classic cars like 2013, updated the chassis and aero numbers in the data file, and made a career progression tree that looks like it could work. Unfortunately as a reviewer I have a weekend with this game.. So instead of an actual review, 10/10. Game of the Year"
You remember when you first came to my office? I asked you, "Do you want to be an eagle, or do you want to be a **** bird?" And you said "I want to be an eagle".
You got to be what you say you're going to be, which you aren't.
You got to do what you say you're going to do, which you haven't.

I don't race online a whole lot, but we're thankfully excluded from most of the problems. We rarely get safety cars or desyncs at all.

It's quite easy to not see these issues, I have experienced the SC bug once and I wouldn't have realised there's a teammate big if it wasn't for this Forum. This is because I play almost only career mode though. I've seen some races in FormulaItalianTeam (very famous, prestigious and competitive league) and there have been some HUGE bugs there but I've never experienced them in person. So i can see how many people (and also me for the most part) can be very happy with this game
