F1 2017 | TV STYLE HUD MOD GAMEPLAY

Hello,
I am developing a TV style hud for F1 2017 and I would like you to contribute your ideas to improve it, the hud can only be used in PC, also the release date may be before the new year or early January.

This is the current state of the mod:

    (Hopefully Codemasters will implement the new official HUD in F1 2018, it's long due by now but i honestly doubt it..... #VoteWithYourWallet)

    I can imagine that it didn’t go into 2017 as Liberty had the process in motion. Knowing it would change for 2018 there was not a lot of point doing it. 

    That said your work looks very good!

    I have been waiting for this day, to see someone working on this. Im now gonna delay my Career mode until you finish this, because its gonna be so amazing. Thank you so much man, looks fantastic.

    And my only suggestion, if you feel it's necessary, is adding the current tyre icon to each of the names on the leaderboard, but its cool if not, because now we have an actual reason to ask jeff what the car in front is running.

    Codemasters new programmer confirmed. (Let's be honest, this guy could probably make a better game than F1 2017)

    1) Small correction - It's VER, not VES anymore for Verstappen;
    2) This is using UDP output data, right?
    Overall, looks nice; font is a bit off-throwing but since I understand it's a picture from "alpha" version of the overlay I don't mind it. Are you planning to have more functionality in the overlay or it's just what you gave us in the picture for now?

    1) In the code I have VER but when you are replacing a driver I make a textbox to put your initial because Codies don't send that information, I accidentaly put VES without noticing that.

    2) Yes, the HUD is nearly done, it need some changes, I will try to implement gaps and tyre icons on timing. I would liked to put race control but there is too much limitations, if you want to propose widgets just say it and I'll look at trying to add them

    Then Jan. 7 is the start date of my Career, looks great! But any particular reason the RAI moves to P3 then back to P1 at 0:33 and 0:40?

    It's because it's a 1 lap qualifying and they pass me on the straight and I go faster through the corner

    It looks awesome ! I just have a request : can you add more than 5 drivers on the top left panel ? Like maybe give the option for 10, 15 or even 20 drivers ? That would be the best !

    Well done! Here would be my suggestions for next releases (if there will be next releases):
    1. Switch between "5 drivers" and "full list". That would mean hiding the Speedo for that.
    2. Switches between gaps, pitstops, fastest laps, current tyres etc... You get the idea.
    3. G meter? If possible for you to do?
    4. "Race control-thingy"? Like when you get a penalty it could show in the bottom "Name - 5 second Stop/Go penalty"
    5. Auto-show and/or auto-hide would be a nice addition too, like when it stops getting data (so usually after race end) it auto-hides, or when starting driving it could auto-show, since I assume it will be shown in the garage too.

    1. I would try to do it before release, if I can't it will probably on an update, there is no need to hide the speedometer you are able to move it with the mouse like assetto corsa
    2. I'm not sure if pitstops will be possible
    3. Can be done
    4. I don't think if it's worth it because I only get data from total time penalties, drs won't be possible as only give me if i'm inside drs zone, sc and vsc i don't get any data
    5. I would try to make it automatic but it's likely that will be manual with a hotkey

    For pitstops I see in UDP there's a field "byte  m_inPits;" so I think that should be possible, unless you can't do it graphically.
    For penalties I don't see the reason why not, game does report penalty time, so something similar could be done.
    For DRS I see there's a field "float m_drsAllowed;" so it should be possible, unless it's working incorrectly.
    For SC - yes, I understand, I see only flags are reported at the current position.

    It's a windows program that contains many widgets like speedometer, logo, driverinfo that reads codemasters F1 2017 telemetry through UDP and display values like speed, rpm, position, time, for getting them shown on the game I use the topmost propety that will make the widgets always shown.

    Okay. Apparently I was able to guess how it worked. It's nice to see someone actually did what I wanted to do as I were too lazy to do so.

    They have already considered doing it, so there is a high chance they do it next year. Not because of the modder, because they have wanted to do it. Also let me add that they themselves allow these stuff to happen, so I don't think anyone makes them look stupid. After all this wasn't possible without the UDP Data feature which was added to 2016 in a patch after release if I'm correct.

    TBF UDP data was available since beginning (possibly, earliest I know is 2013, but could've been even earlier), but proper UDP data output was made only this year. Last year it was smaller, but still acceptable.
