CM should just scrap their alleged car engine recordings work and just hire a modder. : ) and as I suspected, track side / replay sounds of cars are just onboard sounds. So sad. An F1 game, with fake sounds in replays.
CM don't appear to use real exterior sounds for track side replays, instead use on board sound samples to sound like exterior. Last I remember it saved on memory or something like that, but that may have changed.

That off throttle gurgling sound (track side) is key to accuracy if that is possible in game. ?
Also notice that some race titles are re creating that induction sound when cars approach and an exhaust sound from the rear, as car passes.
