    Grid penalty for Vandoorne now. Sky just said McLaren will officially axe Honda tomorrow and keep Alonso.

    Also, 5 place gearbox penalty for Perez drops him from 9th to 10th on the grid, because F1.

    Whilst I was at Silverstone, I picked up a business card about placement opportunities at Mercedes for next year. Had a response to my email today and the placement sounds awesome!

    Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate 12 month Placement Scheme:

    Scheme Duration: 12 months

    Start date:  Monday 3rd September 2018

    Salary: £17,000pa + bonus and employee benefits, including company car lease scheme

    Location: Brixworth, Northamptonshire

    Holiday entitlement: 36 days per annum

    Rotation Plan: X2 6 month rotations from the following areas:

    -        Test Engineering

    -        Performance and Controls

    -        Product Design Engineering

    -        Product Validation

    -        Programme Management

    Gonna try everything I can to get a place!

    It's been amazing, Merc had a show car here and gave me a business card for placements next year and James Allison and Andrew Shovlin have been doing the rounds, gutted I didn't get to talk to them!

    Turns out Lance Stroll has also been testing the Williams today, they also had a show car.

    EDIT: It was a bit weird with James Allison, I did a double take and he noticed so it was just sort of a knowing smile between the two of us.
