2 pointsHi team, I have some feedback on the decision to leave DLC nefs encrypted. I’ve tried (somewhat unsuccessfully) to keep this to the point. I've made the key points bold to aid in sending feedback upwards. Firstly, I appreciate the open communication from @PJTierney on this. This is much, much better than keeping us in the dark. Thank you team. The main reason you’ve encrypted these files is based on the concern that if left unencrypted, players won’t purchase the DLC but will export the DLC models and replace the model of an available car. Some perspective: The .nefs validation system you’ve built is already checking for .nefs file modification. The impact is, if people were to replace models in an available car, their career saves will be disabled and times will not be submitted online. The community has already shown from the launches of DiRT 4 and DR2.0 that with this degradation in experience, very few people will risk or bother going through the effort of installing custom liveries and models. People would need to go through the effort of installing custom software, extracting the appropriate model files, and replacing these within the nefs of an available car. This process is not trivial. They would then get the visual benefit - but that’s it - and the replaced car model is cannibalised. My strong suggestion is that for the amount of effort involved in the modding process, and for the quality of in-game experience gained - people won’t bother. The few that do are probably going to pirate or never pay for DLC in the first place. And in the meantime your paying, dedicated and engaged community get frustrated and disappointed. What continuing to encrypt DLC cars means for us: Frustration and disappointment. Less engagement with the game. Less motivation to purchase future DLC. Allowing the community to create liveries may seem trivial - but it is a crucial part of helping create an engaged community that will continue to invest time in the game. Will I use the Porsche 911 SC RS? I’ll try it out and move on. But if I could create a livery for it, I would without a doubt spend around 24 hours of my own time creating a custom livery - then be motivated to spend about as much time in game driving it. In DR1 my favourite car was the 2007 Focus in the 2000cc class. I haven’t touched it in DR2 because the liveries are rubbish. I won’t use the 2000cc class at all as part of Clubs because I can't use a livery which immerses me in the experience. It’s a massive missed opportunity. The only thing that is making me try the other available R2 cars at the moment is the fact I can create a livery that helps engage me and my team in the experience of competing with others as part of a community organised championship. Without both of these things I would be sticking to my Fiesta and running daily events until I get bored. Custom liveries keep things fresh and engaging - keeping me in the game longer. I’m much less likely to purchase additional DLC cars with this encryption in place. I’m talking even if the 206 drops - the livery will need to be hella good to make me consider purchasing - cause otherwise I simply won't use it. Without this nefs encryption imma throw you money. If you’re not going to unlock DLC nefs: At the very least please consider enabling the folder method for DLC cars so we can use liveries for models that existed in previous DiRT titles. Better, please consider also making DLC car textures available to the community somehow. This way the few people you're concerned about still can't rip you off, and there’s even more incentive to purchase your DLC because we’ll be creating a wealth of amazing livery content. If you won’t do either of these… You need to invest in better liveries for DLC cars, or in comprehensive livery editing tools. With love and respect, the livery options we have in DR2.0 just aren't good enough. What will these cost you to implement? What is the cost of an increasingly disillusioned community? Thanks team. xoxo

1 pointLoving F1 19 even though no VR. The FFB feels even better than last year and the lighting is a huge improvement. Also I'm watching a guy I sub to stream it, when someone asks me in the chat if I'm Hughesy from the Codemasters forum lol. That guy was @Juice29 I'm famous now lads Some of the curbs are dangerous though which were fine to ride on in 18, but you get used to it. I'm using difficulty 95 but in Q1 I'm a second faster than my team mate. I'll see what happens in the race, but I might up it to 100.

1 pointDon't you mean the whole pc would have gone up in smoke!? Now THAT would be realistic and immersive although not very popular with the fire service!!

1 pointStrange that the disc copy of F1 2019 is cheaper than direct through Steam. Was thinking I might go disc this time as the last disc I got was 2017 so with interviews rule changes F2 and driver transfers all been added to the game since 2017 I'm tempted to go with the disc version given it may take a while to download. Was thinking I might pick up the Moto GP game up too as I'm quite impressed by the graphics on the new one.

1 pointThis games great, an improvement on 2018 which I enjoyed. On the point that the f2 implementation being a gimmick, I sort of agree on the front that it's too short and quite inconsequential, however I'd recommend (as I'm doing) a full F2 championship in free play mode, and then starting the career scenarios in your second season. This will allow you to immerse yourself in the rookie role quite nicely. Haters' gonna hate, whatever codemasters produces.

1 pointCan someone please link a source to Nico Rosbergs Vlog where he shared his opinion about F1 2019?

1 pointThanks for the feedback everyone, team's happy to see data come in that affects their future plannings. 2 more questions added to the list: If any of the devices you used were un-official, did you configure your devices via the in-game menus or by editing the XML? If you edited the XML did you know that the majority of the settings you can change in the XML are available in-game, before editing the XML?

1 pointThanks guys, plucked a few out for sharing this week 🙂 Here's one to kick the week off:

1 pointThe motivation to buy content will be bigger than the motivation of driving a bland Focus 2007. Those who pirate, will still be able to pirate it. Those who are loyal and buy, if you keep liveries locked you can lose some of those numbers.
-
1 pointYou can expect a sales increase if you unlock the car's liveries, that's guaranteed. It'd be the best of both world if you could keep the car models locked but allow liveries to be installed like launch-cars.

1 pointWRC2 runner up in Rally Portugal, Emil Bergkvist together with Patrik Barth in the M-SPORT Fiesta R5 they won as prize for becoming Junior champions last year. https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/ford-fiesta-r5-emil-bergkvist.27306/

1 pointIt will be hard driving the Focus 2001 without a Martini livery for sure. If only you guys can find a way to read texture files separately.
-
1 pointI still think it's completely stupid that people are still mad about Grid 2 not having an interior camera six years later... The interior view in Grid 1 was really bad too because it was angled towards the ground on pretty much every car except open wheelers.
-
1 pointIf the information about the lack of content is true then I may pass on this until it is on a really good sale and all the dlc is released. The thing is Codemasters (if you guys are reading this) is some of us are very wary after Dirt 4's lack of any content (track creator does not count as most of the generated routes felt the same after a while). You guys use to produce great content rich games. With games like Project Cars 2 having great base game content and Project Cars 3 in the works likely to be content rich as well you guys need to be doing it bigger and better than the other developers or why even bother trying.

1 pointErrr, will it work on Win 7 ? , I hope so, I dont really want to build a Win 10 rig just yet but if I have to I have to..
-
1 pointCodies have got lots of experience since that time so I would trust them. Yet they said that the driving model is going to be the balance between simulation and arcade (if I am not wrong).
-
1 pointI hope the driving is like in Autosport and not that imprecise and understeery like it was in the first Grid.

0 pointsF1 2019. The worst rushed Codemasters game yet. The way the car handles the worst yet and the most unrealistic we have ever had. Like Nico Rosberg said in his youtube vlog "unrealistic" and after trying it out i agree with him. Your so called sim racer in charge is a joke. Unrealistic race weekends. A Ferrari driver doing a special race weekend on a old Williams for example. Never going to happen in real life. Relive Senna and Prost! With no actual moments to relive from that era. Or even a classic track to relive a moment in that era. Stupidity at its finest. What a gimmick. Formula 2! another gimmick, no matter how well or bad you do in the game you will advance to Formula 1 regardless. Formula 2=waste of time. The only thing i can say is that the graphics are looking okayish. Even then a regular xbox one struggles. Congratulations Codemasters. Dont know how you manage to make a game worst each year. i'll buy the game when i can find it used for 5 bucks. All its worth in my eyes.

0 pointsAs talked a bit in the microtransactions thread, Codies have been dying since 2010, so they definitely want money in order to continue even developing games.
-
0 pointsYou think like that probably because you don't understand the idea of interior camera. And what about those who play with steering wheel? Then the best way to play is to use this camera. Besides, using the interior you see your road more clearly.

0 pointsIn the latest gameplay trailer I noticed the player can score points for various diciplines like driftig or overtaking opponents. I hope we can turn that off in game because it is very distracting.

0 pointsHi guys. Not so long time ago (actually, it is obvious) I got to know that new 'GRID' comes out (called just 'GRID', nothing else). It is really cool and I cannot wait when I will get it. In my opinion, both 'GRID 2' and 'GRID Autosport' were not as great as 'Racedriver GRID' so I hope the new game will be at least as great as 'Racedriver GRID'. If we start discussion about the upcoming game, I would like to share with my little proposition. What about adding spotter from 'GRID 1' (if possible)? I think that everyone who played 'GRID 1' will know who I mean (actually I didn't find his name so that also is why I ask). I also hope that Codies will not forget about the iconic car (At least in my opinion. And what do you think about it? You can share with your thoughts.), which is Ford Mustang Boss 302. There was no such Ford in 'GRID Autosport'. It would be really cool if they did menu like this one from 'GRID 1' or 'GRID 2'. Not such a minimalism like it is in 'GRID Autosport'. Personally, I didn't like the idea of putting a car on black background. This was a loss of racing climate. Much too stark. I would like to see good-looking damage model. Probably the best damage model was in G1. And one more thing, probably the most important. Let they make brand new circuits. Just think, would 'GRID' be good if they copied tracks from previous games like it is in 'GRID Autosport'? The quality is more important than the number of tracks (what doesn't mean that the game shouldn't have got satysfying number of tracks/locations). The same about DLC. Something completely new (you remember 'DiRT Rally 2.0' Season 1 so you know what I mean). We know that they plan to release 3 Seasons (!). I am interested in how big these Seasons will be. We will see. Your opinion and comments are desirable. Thank you for being interested in what I wrote and published here on this forum. It might motivate me to be more active here. 🙂 Wishes!
