Sound cut out but this time game restart, PC restart does not help. Engine muted permanently. Ingame options I have all sounds at 100. Edit: As some people suggested, changing the view does indeed fix the sound. TY @piphil. What platform you're playing on (for PC also state Steam or Oculus). PC, Steam What your PC setup/build is like (graphics card, processor etc.). RTX 2080, i7-7700k, 1903 Whether you're a Standard or Deluxe user (doesn't apply to Oculus). Deluxe Whether or not you have any non-standard peripherals connected, like steering wheels, gaming mice etc. Not sure what you would qualify as a "non-standard peripheral".

It also has dynamic weather so... I won't say it's a perfect game, I'm having a hard time getting used to the cars, but I have to recognize them that they've done a great job in some aspects of the game, like career mode, stage design, times of day/weather...

CMR 1 has 8 locations: New Zealand, Sweden, Greece, Monte Carlo, Indonesia, Corsica, Australia & Wales https://dirt.fandom.com/wiki/Colin_McRae_Rally

I remember the times when water physics was one of the main commercial features in DIRT2. DIRT 3 continued to use that technology. But since Dirt Rally water physics was brutally replaced with flat texture. Is there any reasonable explanation of why was it done? Thanks. Just to remember:

Indonesia from CMR1 with modern graphics & physics would be awesome, remember those sandy beaches, rice fields & villages and swamps

It's so simple. Dirt series with a number (ex. Dirt 2/3/4) are made for casual/arcade players. Dirt series with the tag "Rally" (ex. Dirt Rally / Dirt Rally 2.0) are made for hardcore players.

So sad, in WRC 8 water puddle physics already has been implemented. They can spin your car, you can feel the aquaplanning

    Looks like we're "missing" Corsica.

It's as in real life, where using sliding technique depends on car's turn ability in particular conditions. since the more loose surface the more understeer, inducing oversteer by using handbrake or other techniques makes car goes thru a turn faster. We can see that on gravel, snow mostly. But in some conditions it might be a successful method for tarmac too (like very tight hairpin) . Since the line between to slide or not to slide (efficiency-wise) is not strictly defined, the success depends on a driver skill which has to decide how to manage a turn. Of course taking into account tires wear which obviously impacts their future performance.

I understand this and I have no claims for little puddles all over the track. But there are places with big puddles, they could keep water physics there.

agreed. it was weird starting this game and seeing the puddles doing nothing at all. I think it's because they're generated by an algorithm or something rather than placed in each spot specifically. in this game there are puddles everywhere when it's raining, whereas standing water in older games had to be placed in specific spots manually, so its usage was much more limited. this does mean however that you get puddles in super weird places sometimes, especially in Germany. check the screenshots i took below. they just show that the puddles aren't placed there by someone who knows how water works (ie, a human). so making physics effects and sound effects for all of them is probably really hard. it's a case where they went for visual impressiveness over reality a little. you win some, you lose some, I guess. these two puddles (right of car on first photo, left in second photo) are on hills. that should not happen. [ livery from http://mesasartworks.hu/downloads/dirt-rally2/264-mirage-r5-wrc-05-tribute ] on the other hand, this dip I am about to go through should have a massive puddle in it, because water should drain there from all directions (the fields on both sides, as well as the road in both directions. but it doesn't.

It’s really peculiar, they were great in Dirt Rally 1 too. Maybe the water effects specialist left codies between Dirt 4 and Dr2 lol

Loved the Manx International rally video, brought back memories of my many miles round the island - the roads there are superb, and notice the F2 cars they were running, that'd be an amazing location to have in DR 2.0, the rain and fog really changes up the roads there on a daily basis, lots of fun (not?) clearing your visor as you climb through the mountain section (my miles there were on motorcycle)

Lancer Evo IX is one particularly cool car that has been absent from rally games for a while. R4 class could maybe use one more car

My tarmac Candidates would be either MANX Or San Marino/ Rally legend

We should be able to select the location in the career mode. I honestly love the tarmac rallys and it's hard to have all the 3 tarmac ones in the same champ in the career. (Maybe because I am only able to win the tarmac ones) 🤡

For the no engine sound issue - for me, changing the view fixed it. It may work for others?

Having this same issue. Also on PC / Steam, using 1660 Ti on Windows 10. Trying to do the NR4 monthly in Monaco. First shakedown everything went fine to the end. Started 2nd shakedown and no engine sound.

Audio bug The car sound cut out in most races. It seems to be working fine in Dirt Fish map, but when i try to race in any other stage the car is muted. Tires, pacenotes, environment seems ok. The car in the picture is a Ferrari 308 GTB, not a 288 GTO, which was a Group 4 rally car, so it could fit perfectly in the H3 RWD class. There was also a rally Group B prototype, the 308 GT/M, while the 288 GTO was for the circuit-racing side of the Group B, as well as the Porsche 959 (despite the Porsche being finally used in rally-raids).

I respect Codies trying to satisfy needs of hardcore racers. But there are also many arcade lovers, like me, who missed DIRT series so much! Is there any chance of returning that brilliant DIRT2/3 formula? Thanks.

Consoles have very cheap CPU so you can't build anything cool yet. Maybe with the next gen and Ryzen.
