The video confirmed that something is happening after Season 4. The rest is up to your imagination. Won't be long till we reveal more 😉

There's plopping a date on a forum thread and there's coordinating a big announcement that goes far and wide. We may be doing the latter 😉

@ChrisGrovesMCM, this is my summary of car tuning issues in GRID2019, with possible fixes. I'm posting this to make sure, we all understand the problem, and I want to keep the discussion in one place, instead in scattering it in every other thread 🙂 GRID2 and GRID: AUTOSPORT did things in a proper way. They completely separated singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Whole progression was separate - so if you wanted to only play single player - fine. If you never cared about singleplayer (like me) and only cared about multi - even better. You could only race in multi, make money, and buy/upgrade/tune your cars. And it was awesome. And then, GRID 2019 came. And Codies never bothered to keep single/multi as separate games. They merged everything, going back to Racedriver: GRID system. I can understand why, and it does not bother me much, as I liked singleplayer in GRID2019 enough, so I was able to make money on it, buy all the cars, and now I'm set for the multi. But then, there's car tuning system... that is unacceptable in its current form. As the garage is shared between single and multi, car setups are also shared. So if you tune your FD Civic for some very short singleplayer track (giving it a very short gear ratio), or you tune your muscle car for bump absorption and soft suspension... it will stay tuned like that. And then, you want to use those tuned cars in a multiplayer event. You're going to use them, because you don't remember what you did to the setups. Your FD will lose everything, because of the capped top speed. Your muscle car will wobble all over the place, because of the suspension setup. And there's NOTHING you can do about it. Because in multi, you don't even get to see the tuning of the car. You also can't change car tuning in any way, when in multiplayer. If you don't remember your car setups (who does?) you're screwed in multi. You can of course go to your garage before joining a multi session and reset all the tunings to default. Going car by car. It will take you an hour or so, because garage system in GRID2019 is very poorly implemented, slow and clunky. Now Codies, how do you fix this issue? 1. DISABLE ALL CAR TUNING FOR MULTIPLAYER MATCHES The easiest solution, and not a bad one. Not only you're making sure that you're not choosing a car that has stupid tuning, but it equlizes al cars in the lobby. Noone will win the race, only because they went for the longer gear ration for a fast track. If you go back to singleplayer, your custom tuning for each car will be kept, but when you use this can in multi, it's tuning forced to a default one. 2. MAKE CAR TUNING VISIBLE AND EDITABLE IN A MULTIPLAYER LOBBY You have a car choice screen in multi lobby, so you can enable this left trugger button for viewing/editing car tuning, just as in single player. If the event is longer than 1 race, the tuning you choose will be the same for all the races in the event. This is IMHO the best solution, if events contain fast and slow tracks, then you'll have to make important decisions regarding your gear ratios. Also, the whole system is already there, you just need to enable it for a multiplayer lobby. 3. MAKE CAR TUNING VISIBLE AND EDITABLE BEFORE EVERY RACE IN A MULTIPLAYER EVENT This system was present in GRID: AUTOSPORT and it was great. Instead of this unskippable 'grid presentation' screen that you get before every race, we could have a small menu, with car setup, game options, etc. This menu should have a timer (like 30 seconds), giving players the time to check their setups before the race starts. This way, you could prepare your setup for every race in the event, at the cost of slower race starts. I don't really care which solution you choose, any of those will fix the issue. I'd go with solution 2, because it's very easy to implement. Solution 1 is even easier, and still pretty good, solution 3 would require some extra subsystem in the game. Keeping my fingers crossed that this issue will be resolved soon 🙂

Hi Everybody, I want open this new discussion to know how you think about my idea for a future game F1 2020. As you can see, my idea is mainly based on a graphic collection, similar to the one with which Codemasters publishes its phenomenal racing video games, especially those of the F1 series, based however on the slight difference of proposed contents. As already written on the images, they are only examples and any name or brand imprinted inside them has been reported only for a graphic exhibition in order to better understand the concept. I wanted to add the F1 fonts and get closer to the official graphics. And now let's move on to the game themes. The video game is mainly based on two career methods: the classic one of the "ranks" of pilot, with the difference of trying to land in F1 from the F2 only and only if you arrive at least thirds in the championship. The career mode, in my opinion, should be similar to that known up to F1 2019 with the difference that the swap of the drivers should be at least at the end of the natural contracts in place and not during the current season (beautiful, but not very realistic if in reality we only know the real swap that took place this year between Gasly and Albon in Toro Rosso). Then, vendor swap by season would also be wonderful. For example, Alpha Tauri and Red Bull that from Honda pass to Mercedes, or HAAS that passes to Honda, just to give a practical example. Now, the highlight, for those who also care about the managerial side of an F1 team, would be to make a career as a driver and head of the team, taking care of the main aspects and being the eleventh team that takes the seasons away with a budget management that must be taken care of after a total number of races, a bit like it was in F1 2018 during the discussion of the contracts, but aimed as a team, that is, the care of the sponsors, the confirmation of some technicians and engineers, the development of the car , the compensation, ... Then there are other themes that respectively represent the "head-to-head" duel with your team-mate, competing in one or more heats at choice on circuits loaded at random by the computer. The winner is the one who scores the best average between pole, victories and fastest laps and time at the top of the race. Another aspect is that of the historical races, relive the duels of the past such as Villeneuve and Pironi, Lauda and Hunt, Schumacher and Hakkinen and obviously Senna with Prost but on several occasions and try, albeit virtually, to change the outcome of the real outcome . The last is the classic theme of the F1 single Grand Prix, where you can randomly choose between normal or timed racing. In short, I put some stuff in it, hoping that the Codemasters developer friends can have more information from us enthusiasts to make the video game as exciting as possible. Thanks for the kind attention reserved to me. P.S.: if you have anything adding about my ideas, please propose it, thanks!!!

I was just stating that potentially it might be a while before news. Unless Spring 2020 is the release date, but it'll be announced earlier. Dirt Rally 2.5? 😄

They're generally quite stable, however some complications after yesterday's big server maintenance (which affected all titles, not just DR2) lead to a little more instability than usual. I believe the game's stable again right now, and IT's working on various things to ensure things are more reliable in general 🙂

Yes either is artistic choice or bug remove this scracthes ASAP

@PJTierney Any chances we get more reliable servers in the future? Those downtimes happen way to often and are by far the most annoying thing in this game. (Don't know if the servers are back again, didn't played since the first reports.)

Actually, I do see the F1 2019 title being extended to support F1 2020 with DLC, with the new consoles then a regualtion change it makes sense to develop the game for new consoles for F1 2021 in a two year development cycle to tie in with the new regulation change. I don't know why but it seems complete common sense to release an eSports patch to F1 2019 then a livery update for F1 2020 to go with the Pro Series. I rethought my previous post. All the 'we're going to support F1 2019 for longer than ever before' makes sense especially seeing as F1 2014 & F1 2015 are without doubt the two worst titles in the series because they messed the next gen consoles up last time.

You can tune the car before every race in SP, yet in MP you cant even see what tuning is set or change the tuning. Note you cannot tell what exact tracks the session leader has chosen for the MP session, only the general location of each track. You need to know the exact track variation to pick the right setup (gearing mainly).

Looks sad. The darker the paint is, the sadder it looks.

Why is it even a 'debate' ? 🙂 Especially now, after public lobbies were launched, people will join to other people's lobbies. And they will be forced to pick a car from the category that lobby host has chosen. And they will never know, if the car they picked has supershort gear ratio, which makes it impossible to win any races with. Or maybe it has some experimental brake and suspension setup that makes it impossible to drive fast. If there's a 'debate' about this at Codemasters, then maybe I should create this big thread after all and explain, why it's such a big deal? Maybe someone is not seeing something?

So you are one of those modders... Breaking the integrity of the game by modding in cars that aren't suppose to be in the game, tracks-car combos that aren't allowed, and so much more apparently. You and similar modders like you are the reasons we aren't allowed to get our hands on the files for designing liveries for the DLC cars. I believe this to be extremely disrespectful and shameful behaviour. The reason we, honest players and modders, can't have the nice things we deserve...

true but here you compare historic car and the all car have huge different performances (engine, power, weight ...) you are right, but the modern is very different the manufacturer are very limited in the regulations for performance so if you put S2000 with official regulations against R5 with regulations personally I think the R5 will win. an example for the R2 the new version of the 208 will have a smaller engine with a turbo. why Peugeot will change the motor ? is strange , because it costs a lot of money to recreate a complete motor . other example with R5 the citroen C3 motor is an upgrade version of the DS3 and the 208 if you look the characteristic of the C3 gain 2 horsepower (280 Hp for 208 and ds3 to 282 Hp for C3) unfortunately for citroen the difference with the front acceleration ramp and the rear acceleration ramp is too large so it oversteer in the middle of the year yoan bonato test the C3 with aerodynamic improvements to solve the problem, but citroen again less good than skoda because skoda has found the right cocktail to win in this category to finish with modern cars, a small detail can make a huge difference

Hi everyone, Thanks for your feedback. On a personal note (not speaking with my CM head on here), it would be cool to have some split-screen arguments with my brother again at home. (*Puts CM head back on*) I've added this as a suggestion to the developers for future projects.

I really respect CMs didn't abandone the game. But it still doesn't explain how could they release so featureless and modeless project. What were they thinking?

YES, i still play race driver 3, original grid is great but i have to say YES 2019 should have been like RD3 & hints at it with the idiotic voice guy telling you what to do. it's like codies doesn't know what to do, they just want to be popular but failed practically EVERY one .......................very sad what dreaming of $$$ does instead of doing a great job. Speaking of old games, any one still play Sports car GT ? or am i too old ?

I know it's not a fun decision but changing the way they do it. It must be too time consuming or expensive to implement a new system to change the way they store/encrypt files for the game or something. I believe it's not all that much work probably and should be possible in a day or so but the devs must be of the impression that it's not worth the effort. I asked if it was possible to decrypt the main texture file for each car and make certain files in there available to while encrypting the others, making them unable to extract or move. From the 24 files that you can find in a car's main texture files, I would be happy to be able to have access to four of them: xxx_glass_d.tga xxx_glass_s.tga xxx_main_d.tga xxx_main_s.tga That's all I would need to design spectacular liveries. If only they could make those available for us to extract and put back in once we were finished, I would be over the moon. And that's just me. Imagine all those people who would be absolutely overwhelmed with joy because of this! 😞 I already have a list of all those cars I would love to design for the game. These are just a fraction of what's on the list:

You are correct. I tried to get the devs' attention concerning this topic via @PJTierney but apparently there's not going to be any way for us designers to get our hands on the files to create some spectacular liveries. It doesn't help that there are certain modders porting in DR1, D4, RX-cars or cars from different games like WRC 8 even (if I'm not mistaken) to drive on rally stages in DR2.0. I think one even made the cars from DLC packs available for download which replaces one from the cars from base game in a different class. Not entirely sure about this final sentence but I do seem to recall seeing something like this. I'm firmly against modders whom severely break the terms of service by such actions. It's modders like these which force devs to lock content behind serious encryptions which results in those magnificent DLC cars to be out of reach for those that just want to put a fantastic looking paintjob on those cars. I'm very disappointed by this reality but I do not blame the devs at all for this, however I do blame those modders going way over the acceptable limit of modding provided for us by the devs.

Just look at my screeshots. 6K career race and not even 500 credits for the exact same event in freeplay. Thats insane. No one will drive 10-15 times more races to get to the same amount of credits as you get in the career. Thats way too less credits in free play mode and way too much grind. It feels like a punishment for using free play mode if you ask me.
