11 pointsHello All, This is just a thread to throw out the idea about a weekly/biweekly broadcast rally event. (Broadcast to Youtube and Facebook) I have asked around sim racing broadcasters and I think we can make something work very similar to Dirt World Series. I think it would be great to have a central place for the community to gather, compete and engage with each other within one 3 hour window or so. I've requested Codemasters look into this via email as a lot of other sim racing platforms are doing the same and they have decent communities where everyone can engage with one another. Costs seem to be in the region of 150 pounds per event total to run the events. What does the community think? Would you support it and compete in these events? Cheers, Luca

5 pointsJust wanted to quietly mention on here, maybe you all have heard about parent company of Autosport forming a games division called Motorsport games. Well from time to time, I like to check up on our old friends that used to be apart of the DiRT team. Guess who their creative director is? None other than our old friend @KickUp. Along with a number of former Codemasters Employees. * Please don’t turn this into some kind of debate or whatever, respect that this is Codemasters forum. But I thought it would be nice to pass along the news. "Competition whose motive is merely to compete, to drive some other fellow out, never carries very far. The competitor to be feared is one who never bothers about you at all, but goes on making his own business better all the time." -- Henry Ford

5 pointsAww that's cute, you think Britain has Spring. It's either winter or the Sahara.

2 pointsI find it frustrating that I cannot see the event details between each stage, the only opportunity is at the Service Area. I've not got the best memory, especially when it comes to weekly/monthly events where I may have left for days and return to not know which stages/conditions are up next and/or when I will be able to repair my vehicle next. Further to this, and in my eyes a massive oversight. When I am on the Events screen looking at the Daily / Weekly / Monthly events, there is no option to check out the event details. On the "Career Rally", and "Career Rallycross" there is the option to view the Championship Details from the Events overview screen, and hence know at what stage you're at before you select to continue. However for the Daily/Weekly/Monthly challenges there is no option for this. I can have all the monthly challenges on the go at once and revisit them a week apart, but I have no idea where I am, until I select it, and even then I could be thrown straight into a stage or two before I get a chance to review progress. This would also be useful for the Daily Challenges, as there is no way (that I'm aware of) to check which stage (other than an image related to the country) you are about to enter until you have already selected and committed to it.

2 pointsIt's a medical condition that affects a lower percentage of the population than VR sickness. It just depends if Codies want to make the game even more accessible. The way you talk about it is like its something that the affected person should suck up, because you think you did. That's how it comes across. There are people with genuine issues with motion sickness even in 2D. It doesn't mean Codies are obligated by law to provide a solution for them. In any case, I think the point of humanity overall is that you don't gang up on the people with medical issues or also disabilities, but you come together to help them. So lets try not just saying "you're an outlier". as that's also how other forms of discrimination rear their heads. Edit: Also please note that I'm not saying this is a disability, because it's not. It just wasn't part of human evolution where you'd artificially zip around without moving.

2 pointsFinland in daytime/clear and daytime/overcast has a horrible looking thick fog on it. Completely unrealistic for the weather (I live in Finland so I would know, also every single Finnish player says this is not even close to how it looks like in reality), looks painfully awful, and you can barely see the road in what should be crystal clear weather with no fog at all. Yes, I know that you said it's "for performance reasons" but that just isn't a good enough answer. Adding this kind of horrible fog that makes it look awful is absolutely not the right way to increase performance. What you should do is get rid of the fog, or at least tone it down to the same level as Wales (where it's bad enough but at least playable) and increase performance in other ways. The kind of ways the leave daytime Finland looking decent. Look at this. This is a comparison of Finland in Dirt Rally vs. Dirt Rally 2.0. You can see it looks FAR better in DR1, because low graphical fidelity without the fog is far better than high graphical fidelity with a horrible fog slapped on it that completely ruins its looks. Your "visual upgrade" has left daytime Finland looking far worse that it did in DR1. These fake promo screenshots, with no fog at all, are what the real game should look like. As it stands this might as well be from a completely different game. The fact that you can't show real screenshots of daytime Finland would kind of suggest even you at Codemasters are not too happy with how it looks like. 1 pointsorry not good with forums and didn't see if this has been asked before, can anything be done about the rain reflecting light, or the way it's rendered to look like xmas tree lights all over the screen, worse at dusk and night stages. Its a clever effect I'm sure and took a lot of effort but it's in no way realistic, it whites out the view through the screen, not suggesting get rid of it, but can it be toned down a bit, please. my GFX settings are shader detail high texture detail ultra reflections low SPR Low shadows off night lighting medium AO medium AAO on Particles medium Ad blending off weather low crowd off cloth high mirrors off vehicle details ultra track ultra object high trees ultra ground cover medium skidmarks and everything else after off. cheers

1 pointSomething like this definitely needs to happen if the game is to continue growing. DR2 is a great platform that could be used in an ongoing competitive basis. The Dirt Rally 2.0 World Series attracted tens of thousands of drivers, a number far greater than you'll see in any automated Daily/Weekly/Monthly challenge. Even the largest community clubs - currently the only place to go for a true competitive experience - only attract hundreds of drivers at the most, a large majority of which have already been involved in the Dirt franchise since before the release of DR2. The game has almost been out for a year now and it desperately needs a form of ongoing competitive stimulus. Without it, the competitive aspect of the game risks dying out. The World Series was a glimpse at how exciting competitive rally action can be, but the World Series is over now, so what's next? I believe that Luca is totally right in the idea that frequent competitions officially hosted and broadcasted by CM (or a contracted team) via the official Dirt social platforms could give a great boost to the game's viewership and help grow the driver-base. Even monthly broadcasts would help to sustain the game's community as a healthy competitive environment. I'm sure some of the more dedicated community members would be willing to give their time to help plan and manage such events. They have already tried to produce similar environments using the Clubs feature, but without the reach of the official Dirt brand they have struggled. There wouldn't need to be prizes, as drivers would see the competitions as the premier opportunity to highlight their own skills to audiences and their fellow competitors. DR2 has an amazing potential to be a truly competitive rally sim (brought about by the hard work of the developers - the physics are a much needed step up from previous rally titles), but it can only be realised through the desire and support from the top. Otherwise it will take it's place in history as 'just another casual rally game' *cough* Dirt 4 *cough*

1 pointLet's do it! This game desperately needs some sort of broadcasted event that runs weekly. It's good for viewers, drivers and teams to get our names out there. People would definitely tune in.

1 pointIt’s the 2020 WRC calendar is it not? Just renaming the events to make it match. No news here sadly.

1 pointIt must be Spring somewhere in this world right... 😛 If @PJTierney is thinking of the British Spring, we'll have to wait until June or July... 😮 @PJTierney, you can put that one in the 'future excuses'-, '#soon'-box or whatever you guys call it. You're welcome. Still something more is coming and I'm still convinced our reaction will be along the lines of this: or this: or maybe this:

1 pointPC, Steam, VR (HP Reverb) Picture is horribly pixelated at start of every stage. To resolve this I either have to drive off the starting line and the restart (which is NOT a solution at all) or I can change MSAA to something else, and back to where I want it. This happens *EVERY* time at the start line !! This has to be fixed A S A P !

1 pointNo plans for this, that I know of, at this point in time. If that changes, I'll let you know 🙂

1 pointHey guys, I just wanted to drop a note that I`ve released new version of Dashboard for DR2. Here`s screenshot and video in action. Forgot to add a link for download: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/dirt-rally-2-0-dashboard-telemetry-tool.26703/

1 pointI can't be bothered with some 'wash' option. RACEDRIVER:GRID wash option was a total chore, requiring you to waste time going to some menu ane pressing some wash buttons and then going back again. G2 and G:AS did it correctly and washed your car before every single race automatically.
