Hey all, I have some more good news ahead of Season 2's arrival in the next few weeks: after listening to your feedback and testing ideas, I can confirm that the option to adjust the length of races in Career mode will be included in the Season 2 update. From the main menu screen, if you head to Options > Gameplay > Difficulty, you can find the new option to adjust race lengths in Career. It is set as default to x1, which is the usual race length. You will now have the option adjust the race length x2, x3, x4, or x5. The multiplier applies to each individual race - so if you're participating in a three-race event within Career, and each race is usually three laps long, applying the x5 multiplier will mean each race is 15 laps long. This option will be available on all platforms when the Season 2 update is downloaded. So, it'll be available at the same time for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, then when we launch Season 2 on Stadia at a later date, it'll be available on that platform too. We're pleased to address another much-requested feature from you, the GRID community, and are looking forward to seeing you take advantage of the new feature! Time to get ready for some marathon Career play-throughs... Thank you 🙂

Take home a piece of rallying history with the Solberg Livery Challenges, coming to DiRT Rally 2.0 in late January. More info: http://blog.codemasters.com/dirt/01/solberg-livery-challenges-coming-to-dirt-rally-2-0-this-january/

To be honest I’d rather get an actual new car rather than just a facelifted version of what we already have

@ChrisGrovesMCM Will you please provide a status update on the team's progress resolving the brightness issues for cockpit view? Thank you.

Speaking for myself here. I wouldn't say that I have the stages memorized, but after running them several times over the course of many months, I remember aspects of specific corners that have red flags in my memory. There are portions of stages that I have memorized to be sure, but without stage notes I would be several minutes slower. Red flags in my memory, corners that I have memorized are: #1. Corners that have caused me to go off or crash more than once. If I had a real codriver, I'd have these corners flagged as double or triple caution in our pace notes. #2. Corners that look innocent at first glance and by pacenotes, but are actually terribly treacherous. Think "Six right long, tightens 5", but the 5 is really a 3... #3. Corners that seem dangerous or difficult at first glance, but aren't. There are several 1's and 2's that really should be 3's or 4's. I remember these so I can keep my speed through them. #4. Big, safe cuts through tight corners. There are several squares and 1's that have huge, safe cuts. I try to remember these so I can save some time. I'd say I only "memorize" about 10% of the corners through the stages, but I'm familiar with nearly all of them, just through repetition.

The MK8 Fiesta R5 is a favorite of Jon and he had pushed the team to put it in game. Also with Ford as kinda long term partner and official licensed product, I think it might a big chance to see it.

I'm already looking for some new future projects to design... Still hoping I will be able to design this one. @PJTierney, can I keep the image for the expected design project or should I just delete it and not waste my time? 🧐

I've been waiting for something like this since launch. Doing recaps of the events, letting casters hype up mid field battles as well as those leading the pack, so many ways to get the community more involved and committed to the game. Give them a reason to keep coming back every event and getting excited to see what happens!

@PJTierney any plans to add the Ford/M-Sport Fiesta R5 MkII to DiRT Rally 2.0?

Why does the new rainy / mid-day Finland not have fog ?
  14. 2 points
Finland in daytime/clear and daytime/overcast has a horrible looking thick fog on it. Completely unrealistic for the weather (I live in Finland so I would know, also every single Finnish player says this is not even close to how it looks like in reality), looks painfully awful, and you can barely see the road in what should be crystal clear weather with no fog at all. Yes, I know that you said it's "for performance reasons" but that just isn't a good enough answer. Adding this kind of horrible fog that makes it look awful is absolutely not the right way to increase performance. What you should do is get rid of the fog, or at least tone it down to the same level as Wales (where it's bad enough but at least playable) and increase performance in other ways. The kind of ways the leave daytime Finland looking decent. Look at this. This is a comparison of Finland in Dirt Rally vs. Dirt Rally 2.0. You can see it looks FAR better in DR1, because low graphical fidelity without the fog is far better than high graphical fidelity with a horrible fog slapped on it that completely ruins its looks. Your "visual upgrade" has left daytime Finland looking far worse that it did in DR1. These fake promo screenshots, with no fog at all, are what the real game should look like. As it stands this might as well be from a completely different game. The fact that you can't show real screenshots of daytime Finland would kind of suggest even you at Codemasters are not too happy with how it looks like. Ah yes, I forgot we had the Mk7 and not the Mk8 Fiesta in the R2 category... That would go nicely with the new Peugeot 208 Rally4

Fully expected to see the MSAA VR issue hot fixed today. Guess I was wrong. Why was this not picked up in testing?

I had the same question and it was answered on discord by Chris so here you go: "ChrisGroves18: they take the settings you use/adjusted in single player menus"

Hi The idea is fantastic - I support it. Yes, I am sure the community would support the event, I would Yes, I am also sure the community would compete. I would It has to be FREE to the whole community with no pressure what so ever in costs, to donate, sub etc, etc, even if we know you will receive more that per event. @ReadHeadEdition - Can I be your co-commentator - Drive Faster Thanks Chris

No 2010s WRC cars planned for DiRT Rally 2.0.

For Focus 2007, i know @PJTierney said once that the Focus will be the only one to get Special livery due low count of liveries.. thats why i did ask that question, as not any other Paid DLC will have special livery. The BMW M2 was not paid DLC, it came free to game, and its not protected for Custom Liveries (and the Paid DLC cars are protected)

Just wanted to quietly mention on here, maybe you all have heard about parent company of Autosport forming a games division called Motorsport games. Well from time to time, I like to check up on our old friends that used to be apart of the DiRT team. Guess who their creative director is? None other than our old friend @KickUp. Along with a number of former Codemasters Employees. * Please don’t turn this into some kind of debate or whatever, respect that this is Codemasters forum. But I thought it would be nice to pass along the news. "Competition whose motive is merely to compete, to drive some other fellow out, never carries very far. The competitor to be feared is one who never bothers about you at all, but goes on making his own business better all the time." -- Henry Ford

If I understand correctly, there is a 'lock on the horizon'-feature (more or less) for the VR players to help prevent motion sickness which is completely understandable. When you don't have a VR headset, like myself, the 'lock on the horizon'-feature is not necessary as motion sickness is no issue in this case. There are barely any large scale complaint threads about not having this feature implemented for non-VR users: link 1 = 9 reactions link 2 = 2 pages (mostly you posting) link 3 = 1 reaction link 4 = 29 comments This is clearly an example of a feature which is barely asked for and thus isn't anywhere to be found on the priority list of the devs which is clearly the correct move. There are other, more important issues and features that are worth their time, money and effort. I, personally, drive at an extremely high level and have several WR's using the cockpit cam. That does not prevent you from competing at a high level or anything of the sort. You also quit after playing just a few minutes. How do you expect to get used to it if you only play a few minutes? My advice to you is, drive for a decent amount of time, adjust the camera settings to what comes closest to your preference and start by driving on roads like Spain to start off with and then build up towards the bumpiest of stages like those in Argentina.

@ChrisGrovesMCM regarding this, which many people considers it an issue (I can live with it, personally), what about adding a car repair/wash option? So maybe using some ingame money you can restore your liveries to pristine condition? Just an idea 🙂

Hi Everyone Firstly I am noticing a very low player count on GRID 2019 PC version In the hope of bringing back a strong grid community just like in 2008.. *remaster it please!* I would like to set up a LIVE championship series. Now with the current player count on pc specifically this is just not possible and unless in my opinion they revert ALL aspects of the current game back to Racedriver: GRID (remastered) I really can not see this becoming the hype it all once had. I am not sure on the player count for the PS4, so if anyone has a live link for it, that would be awesome! This is my idea of what I propose (future additions/changes possible):- Monday, Wednesday & Friday - qualifying rounds (only need to attend for 1 of the 3 qualifying days). Qualifying is based on 10 hot laps (fastest lap will be used). If you do not attend any of the qualifying days, you will be automatically put to the back of the grid for that same 'Official' Race Day week. Saturday - 'Official' Race day (F1 scoring system). After the 4th 'Official' Race Day, the 'season' will finish. top 3 from division 2 or lower will be promoted, bottom 3 from Division 1 to the 2nd to last Division will be relegated. Division league system (Div. 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on). 16 racers per division. Damage is visible only, terminal damage is disabled & standing start. I would much rather have collisions disabled but I can not seem to find that anywhere in the new GRID. (prevents those upset racers mid race taking idiotic revenge). All classes will be used. will be different class each week. Times of qualifying and race day is GMT-0. A community discord will be made, here is where you need to be, apply on the discord to enter into the league system. a timed lap will be needed from a choice of 3 classes and tracks, to judge on which division to start you in. ========================================== This will start out on PC but I will be buying the PS4 version soon (currently have the PC version), this will expand onto console as long as there is respectable interest in this. I got to be honest I would absolutely love it if this game could get the changes the community want/need made, get the HUGE HYPE back and start competing hard with each other. This league system I propose is legit with full intent but only time will be spent putting words into action if I feel there is enough interest. There is highly likely going to be more points to lay out regarding rules, what to do and how the competition will pan out, But currently 1 to 10 is what I have thought of over last couple of days. I would like to point out that the schedule may seem demanding but this idea is based on people who can only commit a few hours a week. I work 7-5 Monday to Friday. Reply if you are interested/like the idea and have any ideas yourself that you feel may be a good contribution/change. I am fully aware this is likely to not happen for quite a while if ever at all, due to the low interest/player count in the game.
