2 pointsHi everyone, I've had an idea that I'd like to try for a little while, a more relaxed and fun one than usual. With full knowledge and appreciation that I WILL be destroyed into Turn 1 at every single occasion, I will be jumping into Lobbies on PC. This will more than likely be on a Friday afternoon, so between and roughly 2:30pm and 5:30pm UTC, to take on all challengers. I will post to let people know I'm online so they can find me! A few disclaimers on this: Won't be every week. More often than not I won't have a microphone (for now). I'll be literally joining in from my desk. This is no esports series, so assists will be all open so anyone can join. It might be a nice idea that, if you are planning to track me down, to change your Steam name to match your forum name. Everyone knows who everyone is then! I want to use trial this idea for forum players to come together with a common enemy (me) at its heart! (Or to have some top racing with your fellow forum users, which is preferred) See it is a Where's Wally, but Where's Barry (to be honest, the first one would equally apply in some opinions 😛 ) See you on the track (and from the barriers at T1), Barry

1 point1. Red flags/full restarts. 2. Cranes & flat beds that remove broke down and totaled cars. Rather than vanishing. 3. All classic tracks. Fuji, Monza, Detroit, Nurburgring Las Vegas ect. 4. Improved cut scenes

1 pointThe general consensus was even with the tarmac, DR2 was a step up from DR1, I thought.
-
1 pointI actually think the handling has improved in DR2, what do you feel was a step back from DR1?

1 pointThe big trouble is that with no snow or ice, the gravel roads are damaged by the studded tyres, and the organisers can’t afford to pay to repair all the roads. It’s a shame they had to cancel so much, because it would have been interesting to see who could have managed all the conditions the best. But yeah in future I hope this never happens again, and the only way that’s going to happen is to change locations. Any way, I’m so happy for Elfyn, very much deserved. Also Kalle has a brilliant weekend. This year’s championship could be very interesting

1 pointi'll second this. On some stages/corners the pace notes are either waay too early so that i'm braking too early or extremely late so I end up getting thrown off the edge of a cliff

1 pointAhh ok well maybe PS7 eh. Still red flags would be cool. Or if you could fly in the water in monaco after the tunnel. It ends your race instantly with a cut scene of your car getting pulled out of the water with fish falling out maybe a boot.

1 pointMuch as I'd love to see them, cranes and flatbeds would be a nightmare to code... or at least, ones that didn't just appear and vanish like the cars do. They'd have to drive themselves from somewhere and position themselves exactly right, all without colliding with any other track buildings or track furniture. Then lift the car and take it away somewhere sensible, all without hitting anything again. Given how much trouble they've had implementing a safety car that only has to drive from the pit lane to the track and back now and again, I hate to think how wrong they could get this 😉

1 pointWith all the missing modes and things in this game, i ask a simple question: Whats worth 75e here?

1 pointI wouldn't worry much about us, you're usually way ahead 🙂 Hard to compete with the Cossie. As for points, I think it's pretty much down to the number of participants in an event. If it's 49 participants, 1st gets 50 points (49+1), then it gets progressively less. So more people in the event means more points to take.

1 pointNew England is technically a fictional stage. It is based on roads around DirtFish, but the real roads do not link up like they do in game. And you know what? NE is one of my favorite locations of DR2. Fictional stages based on real life locations to get the "feel" correct could potentially be the best stages in the entire game.

1 pointThen why the hell F1 has modern graphics and GRID looks like ****?
-
1 pointIts not unacceptable, it's nitpicking at it's finest. Are you one of those that gets offended when they don't get what they want ? 🙃

1 pointI would like to have a manual pitlane entry/exit with no cinematic unless you are in front of your team mates.

1 pointThis might seem a bit nuts but it would be cool to experiment with. Doing your own Recce and Pacenotes. It might be tedious and awkward but we know it's possible as there's a mod out there that lets you do this. If a system like that were refined and put in the game, it could be a cool way to communicate that aspect of rallying in a game. Multiplayer ride-along/Co-Drive. This would also be nuts, but it would be really fun to have the game support a co-driver that rides along with you in the stage. There could be an in-game UI for a co-driver to show pacenotes on screen and check them off as you go. This would definitely be unusual, but it'd be an awesome option for players to experience being a co-driver. Clubs that required real co-drivers (AI Co-Driver disabled) could be made that could have a really authentic experience. At the least, it would be cool to have the option to join someone in the co-driver's seat just to ride along, even if they're not doing pacenotes.

1 pointI think Bahrain wasn't in the 2011 game when they cancelled that one, but I'd like for the track to be at least drivable in the game no matter what happens in real life. Then again I'd say the same for all tracks that already exist in sufficient quality like Germany and Malaysia. Add some track rotation to the career, that'd be a great feature. Wishful thinking, I know

1 pointHey guys, what do you think about the pitlane exit until start GP? Can be interesting how idea? It's realistic?

1 pointWhile that would result in a much better game in the WRC series I reckon that would severely limit what Codemasters can dish out to us each time. They’d have to make a new game each year - or presumably have to justify if they wanted to take a year’s break - and they probably wouldn’t be able to include all the extra cars and locations which gives DR quite a lot of USP. I also think the competition between DR and WRC is healthy - they’ll both be trying their hardest to make the best rally sim so my hope is one day I will buy a WRC game and keep it for more than two days 😅

1 pointConsole FoV slider Off-line career mode with substance (as mentioned by others) Realistic graphics colour palette and photographic textures (as mentioned by others) Sure, improve the fidelity of grip conditions, but please don't lose the playability with a console controller.

1 pointAm I allowed to suggest wrestling the WRC license away from the current holders?

1 pointI think the solution to egregious cuts could be achieved by having a damage model that's more strict. If there are rocks/stumps/bushes/ruts where those cuts exist, and the damage model is realistic, you'd run a severe risk of critically compromising your car by taking cuts. At the very least you could end up with a bent wheel, steering arm, axle, etc. This wouldn't eliminate cuts, but it would seriously discourage them. After all this is what keeps real life rally drivers from making big cuts as there's not a steward at every corner ready to mark someone down for corner cutting. The problem with using penalties is that the system won't differentiate a mistake from an exploit. If you lose control and slide into a corner and off the road, you suffer not only the time lost from damage to your car and the crash itself, but salt in the wound by being punished through a penalty on top of it. That would be amazingly frustrating and unrealistic at once.

1 point@PJTierney, this is a good example of why your games like DR2.0 and Grid needs proper gaming statistics! It is very off putting to play a game when you are literally in pitch dark not knowing your progress. It is like 40 days in Sahara. To me it seems just lazy not to have anything in this department, then again I’m not a game developer. But having trackers of how I do, where I’m driving, for how long etc. is actually playing a crucial role for keeping up the interest of a game. Just look at the popularity of smart watches... 😎
