We wouldn't have to modify such files if we got more options to customize visuals in the game itself and if there weren't such issues with the LODs in the first place. And as far as I could see that modification doesn't break anything it just doesn't fix everything and there is an acceptable performance loss. All of these discussions of which files to modify and how are just a workaround to the fact that the issue isn't being properly addressed officially. Ultimately, that's what we're asking for - that we get an official acknowledgement that the way the monuments look isn't right and that a fix will be implemented. Nobody who takes a good honest look at some of the screenshots already posted in this thread can claim that it looks right or that it's an acceptable concession to performance. At the very least the highest available visual options in the UI should mitigate this. We're not asking that LODs be removed entirely, even for the highest option. But we'd like to be given the choice to improve visuals as much as we can for a performance hit which we can deem acceptable. I think it's a fair request.

I did a thing yesterday, not bad considering I only started using the wheel in January 🙂

I think this was the original plan, as one of the achievements (Fire Up That Car... Again) dictated that you had to finish in Tier 1 in an event for the Audi Quattro, which was impossible because there were no events like that. it got fixed of course. I think Scotland is free for everyone though, right? so you wouldn't have to pay for that. I'm 96% sure it's offline. Freeplay or possibly a new tab (like the World Series was, temporarily) Scotland is only in the FLAT OUT pack. It's "free" if you already have a Season. Colin McRae Scenarios get their own tab in main menu. I haven't had a deep dive of it yet but from what I can tell it's a similar structure to Historic Championships with each Scenario behind 4 Tiers. That's what I meant by subjective 🙂 For the vast majority of players, every car in the game is "competitive" if you're quick enough. Yes. Here's a fresh screen for you: I believe this is planned. Clubs are limited to 12 Events per Championship (as that's what the game is limited to). It's a bonus livery as part of the FLAT OUT pack. There may be more 😉

I mean, I can't think of any car in the game that isn't competitive within its own class against the 99% of drivers out there. You can take a 240z or a Manta 400 into an online MP lobby or club and still win it outright against the "faster" cars if you can keep your momentum up. Sure, you won't see them used in big league events with the top 10 drivers who duke it out for WRs, but against the rest of us? Totally viable.

Hi Everybody, I want open this new discussion to know how you think about my idea for a future game F1 2020. As you can see, my idea is mainly based on a graphic collection, similar to the one with which Codemasters publishes its phenomenal racing video games, especially those of the F1 series, based however on the slight difference of proposed contents. As already written on the images, they are only examples and any name or brand imprinted inside them has been reported only for a graphic exhibition in order to better understand the concept. I wanted to add the F1 fonts and get closer to the official graphics. And now let's move on to the game themes. The video game is mainly based on two career methods: the classic one of the "ranks" of pilot, with the difference of trying to land in F1 from the F2 only and only if you arrive at least thirds in the championship. The career mode, in my opinion, should be similar to that known up to F1 2019 with the difference that the swap of the drivers should be at least at the end of the natural contracts in place and not during the current season (beautiful, but not very realistic if in reality we only know the real swap that took place this year between Gasly and Albon in Toro Rosso). Then, vendor swap by season would also be wonderful. For example, Alpha Tauri and Red Bull that from Honda pass to Mercedes, or HAAS that passes to Honda, just to give a practical example. Now, the highlight, for those who also care about the managerial side of an F1 team, would be to make a career as a driver and head of the team, taking care of the main aspects and being the eleventh team that takes the seasons away with a budget management that must be taken care of after a total number of races, a bit like it was in F1 2018 during the discussion of the contracts, but aimed as a team, that is, the care of the sponsors, the confirmation of some technicians and engineers, the development of the car , the compensation, ... Then there are other themes that respectively represent the "head-to-head" duel with your team-mate, competing in one or more heats at choice on circuits loaded at random by the computer. The winner is the one who scores the best average between pole, victories and fastest laps and time at the top of the race. Another aspect is that of the historical races, relive the duels of the past such as Villeneuve and Pironi, Lauda and Hunt, Schumacher and Hakkinen and obviously Senna with Prost but on several occasions and try, albeit virtually, to change the outcome of the real outcome . The last is the classic theme of the F1 single Grand Prix, where you can randomly choose between normal or timed racing. In short, I put some stuff in it, hoping that the Codemasters developer friends can have more information from us enthusiasts to make the video game as exciting as possible. Thanks for the kind attention reserved to me. P.S.: if you have anything adding about my ideas, please propose it, thanks!!!

There's been ongoing discussion when it comes to graphics/visuals recently and after speaking to the development team last week, I want to give some insight on GRID 2019. Hopefully, this post clears a few things up. Whilst this thread is locked, I'll be linking back to this should similar topics come up in future posts. Whilst some of the tracks in GRID 2019 are featured in GRID Autosport, it's wrong to say that the textures have been downgraded - they haven't. At the very least, they have been carried over from previous titles. Whilst not the entire reasoning, it's worth pointing out that the sun is in a different position in GRID 2019 compared to Autosport which also may alter the lighting of different assets. A lot of the issues being raised with graphics and textures are indeed due to LOD (level of detail) - the technique of using a dynamic resolution of different textures/objects depending on the distance they are from the camera (for those that don't know!). As with any game, there is a finite amount of resource when it comes to visuals. With GRID 2019, the decision was made with the resource budget to give more graphical fidelity to those deemed most important - things closer to the camera based on your perspectives such as your car, rival cars, and on-track textures. If more resource was given to those things further away, this could impact the performance of the game - it's as simple as that. If we changed things up, whilst people upset about the textures of those things further away would be fewer, there would be more people pointing out the lack of 60fps, including players Xbox One X/PS4 Pro/PCs (that aren't high-end). The same goes for trees and other things that are usually whizzing past you at 180mph+. They aren't the main focus of the race, therefore aren't given as much allocation from the resource budget. That being said, we have made many visual tweaks and improvements to GRID 2019 since launch. Whilst it's easy to take cropped screenshots and compare the finer details, they aren't a true representation of the entire picture, especially when comparing to early development videos. Obvious graphical bugs will continue to be reported, by me, but there won't be any overwhelming changes in how the game renders assets as mentioned above so please manage your expectations. For that fits the bug criteria, please use the following post as a template before posting: I'm sure all of you would prefer to have better-looking cars that run at consistent frame-rates as opposed to picture-perfect trees and more frequent lag spikes. In a perfect world, we'd offer both but right now that simply isn't possible. For some great screenshots showcasing the beauty of GRID, it's worth checking out our screenshots thread. This post from @PIXELSLIDER is one of my favourites: I hope you continue to enjoy GRID! 🙂

If you think about Crysis, you had the graphics settings that they thought you should play it on Low/Med/High but they also allowed you to max everything out leading to the saying 'but can it run crysis?' You can build games that run on my old GTX970 but that doesn't mean you forget those who have a RTX2080, we will tweak the settings to best suit our rig and preference!

Steve’s post concerns hardware configuration issues. Not game related issues.

It'll be like any other location. Play it offline, online, in Clubs etc.

I think steve jay needs to pull his head in. Most problems people have had like The "kicked for online cheating" or the 1008H: error were caused by stuff done on codies end. A patch change for issue one and a server change for the other issue I mentioned. When something works fine one day then not the next after something codies changed you can know straight away its not your own configuration. Honestly sound like an IT support pleb who tells you too "Restart your modem"

@SkyRex Since my first car was a first generation Subaru Legacy turbo, I'm gonna wanna drive the Legacy in the next championship. Since we don't know what class the Legacy will be in (though I suspect Group A), I'd prefer to wait until we know what class it's in. Thanks again for hosting these championships! These really invigorate my excitement for rallying.

@SkyRex Sooooo, since it's pretty much confirmed that we can only have 12 Events in a championship even after the 13th location released, do we kick one old rally out? If so: The most logic one would be Wales i think, because they are probably pretty similar, but I love woods and gravel... My vote goes to kicking out Spain, because it's my least favourite. I could also say Germany, but it's my home rally, so yeah... It's bad enough not having a F1 GP this year again, don't take my rally away! 😟 I make my choice, when the calendar and car class is chosen. We probably get most entries in the championship, if one of the two new cars are available, just saying. Personally I would prefer Rally GT or Group B RWD, because H3 RWD last time really got me into RWD rallying. Just another idea: Maybe we should try a new rule by excluding cars from the class we choose and hope everybody will except that. So maybe 2000cc, but C4 Rally and 07' Focus Rally are not allowed? Or similar choices in other classes with OP cars. Yes, it's 2am here and I cannot sleep and I am bored 😅

Good news, as of today the last bush fire burning in Australia has gone out. 240 days since the first started, it is now finally over. A huge thankyou to all the fire crews both local and from overseas who have worked around the clock the whole time to protect lives and property. The time has come Australia, to pull our heads out of the sand and acknowledge that climate change is real, it is also time for massive investment into the various fire services around the country so that next summer they are better prepared and equipped. On a personal note my sister and my brother in law, have decided to rebuild their home as it was and move back to their farm in the Victorian countryside. It was meant to be their retirement (my middle sister is 22 years older than me btw) home in a few years time and it will be again. 🙂

Hey @DaveT1969 - thanks for tagging me in this. I'll give you an update on this at some point this week. I have a feeling that there are other pressing issues and it would take a long time to implement something like this post-launch but I'll see what I can do.

Top Gear usually put clips (like the one above) on YouTube after a while. It was a real good tribute by the way, documented the whole story about the '95 season.

@CMTGK Could you please tell us what the team's reasoning is behind creating a trophy list that's extremely grindy rather than even slightly challenging?

I know Kankkunen is credited with the line (and I am well aware of his career) but, as brilliant a driver as he was, the statement is daft and I am tired of seeing it repeated ad nauseam on forums and social media, when it is utterly nonsensical. Group B was an incredible time for car development, but that "...Group B for men" line is ignorant of pretty much everything that has gone before and come after Group B. Group A cars were beating Group B stage times just a few years after the banning of Group B and the current crop of cars would run rings around any period Group B machinery. The current driver stable is as talented and committed as those of any era and to promote the idea that they are not is both harmful to the sport and disrespectful to those competing now. What annoys me more is that, instead of remembering the incredible legacy of Group B for what it was, its memory is being tainted by this distorted rose-tinted view and misguided belief that rally never has - and never can be - as good again (and this opinion is frequently held by people who weren't even old enough to see a Group B car in action). Oh, and if Group B was "just for men", how does Michelle Mouton fit in?

You should tell Juha Kankkunen 4 times World Rally Champion that he says stupid things. You play video games, he raced a 500 hp rally car in the 80s and 90s. You know better for sure dude Read a bit sometimes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juha_Kankkunen

because is it rally game and listen pace note is very important , personnally i buy rally game is not for drive in hillclimb , and in rally game when you drive with big rain in night in cokpit wiews is more difficult than players drive in third person or e-sport driver in hood wiews , i drive in copkpit wiews that why for me is very important . in official rally for recognize stage is 80 km/h not 20 km/h

with fast car sometime the pace note is late , and if you want find problem not drive in 20 km/h because when i said the right 4 and the turn go down the car jump so you loose the rear or sliding , if you drive in 20 km/h you not see if the turn difficult or not because you is slow and the car is sticked on the floor , now i give you example imagine you have 4 same turn on gravel ( the name for all turn is left 4 and the angle of this turn is same ) now look . -for the first turn is only flat so you have no problem when you start the the turn and you finish is very easy so the name of turn is " left 4" nice -for second turn you you have jump in midle of turn so you start the turn you slow( and you add more angles on you steering wheel because if you jump with same speed than turn you go in trees so this left 4 is not left 4 now its call "left 3 jump " or" left 3 over crest" example on game : finland ( finland come in soon 😉 ) -for the third turn is left 4 again but the turn in midle go down in left , so is very easy to take turn so name of turn is "left 4 +" or " left 5" exemple on game : wales the forest part -for fourth turn is left 4 but the but the turn in midle go down in right , so the turn is more difficult because you want go on left but the car go on right for take this turn you need go to very slow so the name of turn is " left 2" or "caution left 3" because the turn is dangerous and difficult exemple on game : poland and australia for good pace note you need 1 type of road ( tarmac , gravel , mixed .....) 2 angle of turn ( 1,2,3,4.. square , hairpin ...) 3 the chain of turn - fast chain turn ( left 5 into right 6 into left 6 ) - normal chain turn ( left 3 , right 4 , left 4 ...) - slow chain turn ( left 2 into right 1 left 1 .... ) - mixed chain start fast finish slow ( left 5 into right 6 into left 2 into right 1) start slow finish fast ( right 1 , left 2 , right 1 into left 5 into right 6 ) 4 road physics ( jump , bump , the road go down in left , the road go down in right ......) with this 4 parts is possible to create very good pace note i share the video to explain more easyly
