Here's a little quote of an Interview with Lando Norris: F1 2019 is ‘too much like an arcade game’ which is why real-world drivers prefer rival titles such as iRacing, according to Lando Norris. Speaking to viewers on social media yesterday, Norris compared F1 2019 with iRacing and other popular motorsport games. He said the official F1 licence and popular PlayStation series Gran Turismo are “too much like arcade games. "You don’t drive them anything like you do a real car,” Norris explained. “iRacing is more like a simulation programme so you have better feedback through the wheel, it feels more realistic, basically. It’s more like a simulator in terms of how it feels through the wheel, the set-up changes and stuff. “Whereas F1, Gran Turismo – especially Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo is terrible, it feels nothing like a car, you just slide everywhere. It’s rubbish because of that, that’s why no one does it.” Norris, a prolific simracer, is one of just six F1 drivers who entered the official Virtual Grand Prix series which was launched this year. However technical problems thwarted his effort to compete in both events, and during the latter he removed the game from his system. He did so after broadcasting a conversation with Max Verstappen, who criticised the official F1 game series, and has not joined the Virtual Grands Prix. The game’s handling is “why Max doesn’t play”, said Norris, “because it’s nothing like an actual car. Whereas iRacing is a little bit like an actual car.” “Would I recommend F1 games to serious racers?” he added, “No, iRacing or rFactor.” However Norris is due to return to F1 2019 to take part in the Race for the World series to raise money for the pandemic relief effort today. So if i would be codemasters and read something like this, i would try to bring the people the closest reality of being a f1 driver. This is what it is Always in the commercial and press releases. But therefore and as the official f1 game and esport game its not worth it as this if you read something like this. Just one little note there. Official esport should be forced to drive in Cockpit view. I dont get why people drive with the tv pod. Yeah you See more true but for esport a 3 screen Setup should be no Problem and then u dont have this Problem. It's So riddiculous that u are faster with the tv pod. There should be an option to force Cockpit view. But anyways i hope that this Arcade Thing will change in the future. I read so many posts here who are Always about the handling, the Arcade and so on.... And Yeah i know that its for All Kind of players and its okay. But therefore there are the assists. You can play with them if the "sim Mode" is too hard. But that would be a game change, if the official f1 game bringst "really" the closest experience to be a Real f1 driver (oh Yeah and laser scanned tracks would be great) Hopefully All this get to the devs and they overthink the concept of the actual f1 series🙂

It would be great to have the option that we aren’t forced to be a driver but can hire a 2nd driver and just watch the sessions from a spectator point of view and maybe manage the drivers‘ race strategies.

I think I might actually try an idea like this. If you don't have to drive, you could have a career as a team principal. I might actually use career mode for a change.

Things I hope to see in the My Team: I don't want to be forced to drive the car myself; and if sim is an option I hope the sim software is fair to the player; unlike where if you sim in career mode the result doesn't match what you could have done and teams are out of place. Ability to manage the race "from pit lane" instead of simply sim'ing the sessions. Because as I said, I feel like I want to treat this like a true manager game and not be driving my own car. Ability, if you do decide to drive, to retire and hire a 2nd driver and be managing both drivers races. (Even if sessions are only sim-able and not manageable I'd like to see the ability to retire and run 2 drivers) It would be fantastic if the My Team could be linked to the standard career mode in the sense of car development progression and driver transfers. (Player choosing to import from a career mode save or new career with standard 2020 teams and performance) I want those things because how I would really like to play this game is to be a Prost or Stewart career simulator. I'd like to drive in F1 independently with other teams and then when I retire as a driver I can jump straight into my team and build the new team on the grid. Being able to do so with the data of my career mode save being brought over, so it organically feels like I retired and became a team principal for a new team in that same universe would make this game incredibly next level. Allow the option for me chose if I want to drive a year or 2 for my own team before retiring as a driver, or allow me jump straight into it as a retired driver and hire 2 drivers. I know this could be a good bit of work knowing that not a lot of people necessarily want to play it this way (play one mode, and then import data to continue game play in another mode); but I feel if this option were there a good number of people would be into it. We've heard a lot of this passively as the game gets stale after a few seasons of career or the end of season 10 is unsatisfactory; but packaging it this way would really allow you do a lot more in the game (and stay fresh) without discarding all the work you have already put into the game.

The only way this would happen would be if Codies allowed complete overhaul mods. There ARE mods available but they can only change superficial assets like drivers, and other liveries and basic car performance data as far as I know.

Recenet?! There's another disconnect. 😁 Let's hope the career doesn't become an online feature as in Dirt 2.0. You are absolutely right, before new features are added, the issues with core game should be fixed. It would be time much better spent than in adding new features (some of those being being features removed from previous editions) which, more often than not, take 2 or 3 editions to be functional. However I can't see it happening, codemasters history illustrates that. The next big opportunity to get things right is with the next generation consoles. The game engine will have to be updated or even better rewritten from scratch. It will probably be like 15, and the game will suffer for a couple of years, however a more solid foundation is a potential outcome. Maybe they will produce a game that in my opinion is worth buying. Bring on June and the new release, I can then buy 19 and see if it's as bad as you all say...

What is insulting is that the official FIA products do not feature laser scanned tracks or even correct DRS zones. That's before we get to such things as relative driver/team performance, car handling and setup model, saftey car etc. The games are far from what I would expect official licensed products to be, and from what is advertised. Maybe I expect too much, but the games in my opinion have become a bit of a joke. Recent comments by F1 drivers like that at the beginning of the thread only seve to back this up. The whole game(s) could be viewed as an artist's impression! 🤔

Too bad those "many other games" aren't racing games, whose devs, knowing the importance of low latency and a good multiplayer experience, added the possibility of hosting races on dedicated servers. Poor attempt to defend the fact that F1 still has P2P, trying to point out that many other games do, except racing titles, which have dedicated servers. Even MotoGP 19 has dedicated servers!!!!!! Codies wake up, it's 2020, give us the damn dedicated servers. Or admit once and for all you just copy paste the games and don't listen to your customers. Still having a laugh at "the handling that our simulation players love" while pro drivers are bashing the title exactly for its handling and unrealistic physics

Well, as a customer. It doesn't exactly feel like it's taken seriously. Maybe if some big-shot get's issues in the Solberg Cup. Or Broadbent have major issues when he'll stream it something will happen. Seems to be the recurring theme these days, someone with a name must have issues for companies to react.

Still very early but we know most likely there won't be VR support. It would be great if they give a reason why not....but most unlikely..... Anyone have any guesses on the percentage of VR users?

I would not argue about physics, as now I am no sure if it have any relation to reality at all, though I will admit that in DR2.0 dry gravel stages really feel much better then in any previous Dirt game. And great thanks for CM for Monte Carlo. This is a really great job! 👍 Smoky Finland and slippery wet roads - not so much. 👎 I played every Dirt since CMR: Dirt 2, so here are the things I am missing: Dirt 2 Atmosphere of motor sport holiday. Fireworks at finish for stage winner. Dialogs and competition with famous racers. Menu like a camper trailer. Yes, after a couple of hours in game it may become bothering to wait for slow camera to move from menu to menu, but there is simple solution - shortcut bar, like in Dirt Rally 2015. Dirt 3 Rally Kenya, Toyota cars, cool liveries, big expandable training ground at Battersea Power Station. Head 2 Head races More unexpected moments - people escaping from track, ability to overtake slow opponent, who started earlier. Female co-driver Dirt Rally 2015 Smokeless Finland Crowd, that does not cripple my GPU Rain drops hitting asphalt in heavy rain Some cool replay camera views Audi sport quatro B2 (not S1) Really cool liveries Pikes Peak hill climb Ability to choose any time/day/weather conditions for time trail Both simplified and advanced car setups Russian Co-driver Dirt 4 Good teaching exercises for beginners. This game has the best newcomer teaching course so far. This should be on day 1 of the release to attract more audience. Ability to set up gymkhana courses in DirtFish. Land rush and rally cross. Best team management in Dirt Games (though WRC 8 looks better) Livery creator tool (though in other games it implemented much better) I am NOT missing stage generator, because in Dirt 4 it was the worst part of the game. But I will really appreciate if it is done right way - big region, with set and random courses in it (like Forza Horizon 3-4, Dakar 18). Dirt Rally 2.0 Good FFB after all. Good handling on dry gravel. Amount of available cars and stages. Monte Carlo. Scotland. Subaru S4 and WRX STI 2015, modern Rally GT RWD cars. Unexpected moments with drone and animals, alive spectators - these make the game alive. In fact, Codemasters do not have to try that much hard. They already have everything to make a great rally game. They just need to gather everything they had in the past into one big cool project, so it will be able to compete even with such monster like Forza Horizon.

I know that. I just wanted to explain why he has this feeling of understeer...because: the F1 2019 game was released (and in development earlier) so they (CM) had only the regulation, that the downforce will be smaller. thats why they changed the handling. But you know the real designer and engineers they dont care about 30% less downforce on the front wing, so they will find these missing 30% somewhere else and the game developers didnt take that in their calculation. Thats why F1 2020 cars will be the fastest (downforce and cornering speed) ever or like I called them "Hot lap cars" because they are all good in Qualifying conditions but in the race....they have to stay back for 2-3 seconds to avoid dirty air and temperature risig of the engine tyres etc....but thats another topic :D

2018 was better than 2017 because the rules stayed also quite stable and they got maximum return on aero from the cars. this year is the same. F1 tried to negate the dirty air last year with the front wing rules and stuff, yet still are the 2020 cars the fastest we will ever see them since 2021 is less downforce and more ground effect based. based on drivers reactions to the wintertesting and the times they were pulling out, we'll be in for a laprecord breaking season. If it ever starts that is.... but when you come to think of it, V12 era, V10 era, V8 Era, i've seen and heard them all in real life. now they drive with a 1.6!!! Litre V6 turbo engine with ERS, and put out more than 1000 BHP. In my time having a 1.6 engine with 100 bhp was already bad ass. 1000+ bhp out of an 1.6 engine, completely bonkers.
