It's either that they don't test the game enough (they claim they do) or, they just don't care. The general lack of polish is really a big turn off. Don't have 19 but in 18 for example, get a car 3/4 upgraded in aero and it just drags the ground all the time no matter how you set it up. AI teammate has no such issues! The games are full of little frustrations like this, and added to the poor handling/set up model, I can't pay codemasters for their f1 games. Only second hand after all patches for me, and even then it's still to much to put more than a handful of hours in.

I wonder if the Official Reply from Codemasters regarding the Norris/Verstappen Debacle is ever going to materialise, as per @BarryBL Or will they just wait for the storm to blow over....

Anybody reading this also wondering. I can confirm it does not affect assist bonus having ERS set to Auto.

Hi Matu, DLSS is added to games by developers on a 'game by game' basis, it isn't a catch all AA solution like TAA or SMAA etc. F12019 doesn't support DLSS nor would it likely need to as I think the engine taps out at around 140/150fps anyway, not sure. Besides, you're running a 2080ti and I can max it out with my 2070super so just crank up the settings and go racing! Is the game still working for you? Some people, myself included haven't been able to play at all thanks to the last 2 nvidia driver updates, consider avoiding those if you haven't updated already. Cheers!

Yeah I was a little bit late upgrading t oWindows 10 myself because I was worried I wouldn't get to play games like F1 2010 again as whilst i twas the first F1 game I go tof Codies I thought they did a fantastic job with it and in fact it's still one of my favourite ones they've done. Though I'll admit I haven't played it for quite a while. It was quite some time ago as I found i tat the time I was transitioning from Windows 7 to 10 when I heard Windows 7' s support was stopping. I did consider setting up a dual boot in tha thaving both 7 and Windows 10 on my system to work around it but in the end I didn't need to as the patch works for me. Or ast leas tit did on my old system but then I've recently bought a new PC so that might change as I've not tested all my games on this machine yet. But given I've managed to ge tolder games like Mass Effect 1 going fine on i tI'm hopeful that F1 2010/11 won't be a problem assuming I stick with using that patch. I must admit though I'm looking forward to playing the F1 games again on my new system once I get them installed.

No worries, GTA V is one of the few games where, I would say, the whole idea is to be as ruthless as possible and stitch opponents up at every opportunity! I wish the rammers would just go there for their fun and behave in a respectful/gentlemanly (gentlewomanly) way in the more serious racing titles. I can forgive the odd mistake, but some of the behaviour exhibited online is just ludicrous and makes me wonder why I even bother trying. The AI in PC2 (don't remember it happening in PC1) can be all over the place in a single race. Many times I have scrapped my way to the lead only for the AI to get into god mode and suddenly every car can go 3 or more seconds a lap faster just because you hit the front. AI cars also exhibit the same sort of behaviour if they crash/get involved in an incident. They drive crazy fast (again 3 seconds or so faster than the leaders) then just drop back to a normal pace when they catch up and form a train. The AI was perhaps my biggest disappointment in those games. However, find the right car/track combo and it's wonderful. Let's hope they improve the AI for PC3... When the PC is built I plan on getting AMS2, will be interesting to see what Reiza can do with the Madness engine.

When did you *ever* see a promo for any game that said "we fixed most of the bugs" or "we did a bunch more testing this time"? That's the sort of thing they *might* say in interviews or web forums -- but even then, most companies will never admit to having made poor quality products, as it leaves them open to shareholder backlash, loss of revenue, and potentially even lawsuits. (See also: Gerald Ratner).

To be honest, from a racing fans standpoint, there is nothing wrong with a more realistic approach towards sims, as the more realistic = the better, and true racing fans would want the most realistic experience possible at all times. But, from a gamers standpoint, i believe it's the fact that people want: A) A more "pick up and play" type of game. Casuals don't care about realism. They just want to have fun and will buy the game as long as it is giving them this enjoyment. B) Fairness in racing difficulty. If there was a more realistic handling and physics model for Codemasters F1 franchise, those running assists and or pads, would no longer be able to compete against no assists or racing wheel drivers. Thus, destroying any purpose of existing mixed up leagues. (Just look at any proper sim, assists are useless there and pad drivers are usually at a huge disadvantage). Casuals are the bigger demographic in the gaming branche, they far outnumber any sim enthusiast out there. Codemasters would not get anything in return from trying to spend a lot of money to make the game more sim, as long as minimal effort and maximum profit is the ultimate goal of this company. Sadly this seems to be the reality of modern gaming in general: Shareholders / "Suits" Interests > Quality It is how it is. Quite unfortunate.

Ive been having it happen on Finland recently as well, wipers just turning off on me. I run with manual wiper control, but had to put it onto auto wiper control. Doesnt happen at all then. I would say this one is definetly a bug, and is something that needs looking into.

Here's my 2021 idea.....let someone else have the F1 Gaming license...

Hi guys, hope you’re well and staying safe, I just wanted to ask, how will Codemasters determine the speed/downforce levels of the 2020 cars, seeing as though the season hasn’t actually started? F1 2019 was an amazing game and my favourite so far of the series but I think one thing that let it down initially was the handling model. I remember earlier there was a patch to make the cars up to 1.5 seconds faster showing that they weren’t quite right early on. Obviously, by pre-season testing alone, I think we got an early glimpse that the cars were going to be even faster this year. So I’d love to ask, @BarryBL what are CM doing/ what have you done to gage the performance of cars and how much faster will they be? Many thanks, Tomi

I would only drink it. 🙂 I think it's an Nvidia fix required. Here it is pinned as a Known Issue on the 445.87 feedback thread. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/353880/geforce-44587-game-ready-driver-feedback-thread-re/

@NickVanAelst the solution is pinned to the top of the forum. Please also read the instructions about posting *genuine* bug reports. It would be more effective use of my time not to have to tell people this!

Xbox One X V1.13.0 United States Standard Xbox One Controller Gigabit internet connection The game is having issues communicating with the RaceNet servers and would not let me continue a weekly event or quit to the main menu. It kept giving me communication errors. 21 April 2020: The RaceNet server communication issues continue and are making it very difficult to enjoy the game. These issues go back to at least 07 April 2020.

More issues today here in the US. Server has been extremely slow while playing, received errors at the end of events saying it cannot connect to the server, I have to hit retry multiple times to get it through. It timed out on me while I was trying to CHECK THE GARAGE?!? It is absurd that a game has this many ongoing server issues over a year since release! I feel bad for the people who recently got it from the PS store for free (or whatever it was, I’m on Xbox so I’m going off what I saw on here). It seems that the GOTY edition and the McRae pack were released and then it’s just been thrown to the curb. I really don’t say this often, but it’s becoming unplayable in its current state. If I can’t look at the cars I’ve earned, if it wastes time trying to connect and takes multiple efforts, if I don’t get the credits that I’ve earned from racing (even if they do come through eventually) it really is not looking good for this game to be a game I keep coming back to. 😕

I have to ask....was it clean racing online? 🤕
  17. 1 point
Not so sure about that. There already is a wide range of AI difficulty, brake assist, anti lock brakes, traction control, racing line, no damage, pit assist, the new steering assist, and the notorious gamepad assist. With more assists, including stability control (the inability to spin), and the option to disable tyre managment, it could work. How many more assists do the children need? Does an arcade game really need all those assists already in the game? Perhaps if they added a ghost all cars (call it unranked lobby, or online assist) we could avoid the intentional online wreckers too! 😁 I think codemasters make the game difficult to cater to the sim fans already, it's just that difficult unfortunately does not mean simulation. We have what could be called a bottom up game at the moment, and it would be better for it was top down. Perhaps there is not enough time or money to invest to get the game this way and the "lowest common denominator" approach makes more economic sense. Sure, it would reqire some more work put into the game, but they would sell more copies not less, and perhaps get less negative feedback. Just as an aside, it would also be great if the AI didn't run the default setup at all tracks too.

Random cool thing of the day: Ex-F1 driver Mika Salo plays DiRT, and given that he has 15,000,000cr he plays HARD:

I didn't compare GRID to F1 games. I tried to say that GRID 2019 was supposed to have split screen support, so we don't know who actually developed the feature 🙂

It is in fact a Massive Opportunity for CM to get Real F1 Feedback from the Drivers themselves , much the same as Dirt also have real Rally Drivers on board to assist. If they dont use this opportunity , I dont know when again they will have so much info at hand from the real drivers , bearing in mind their "Normal" Work Schedules.

Most frustrating is that server issues could spoil your club race, like when game hangs at Solberg club and you can forget t-shirt. So if there is no enough money to get servers which work and guys to maintain those, maby you could add somekind of feature to your games which take into account server crashes.

What do you think about Co-op championship like F1 2018? And what about VR support?
  23. 1 point
A small multiplayer thing I think would be cool for streams and such, staggered starts for rally lobbies. Could potentially have options ranging from "Start at 1 minute intervals" to "Start when previous driver has finished". Would make livestreaming rallies a little more interesting than switching between live views, although the way that WRC8 shows all the ghosts in real time is neat too. 🙂

This is usually done in purpose in most racing games. Even rF2 will only disable this behaviour if you go and bind the neutral gear to some other button. Soo... Let's give people the option to bind neutral gear to some button, which will then disable this behaviour 🙂
