***IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR APPLICATION - PLEASE READ*** We have had reports that the gamertag question was unable to be edited. This has now been resolved. Please go back into your profile and BETA Access application form and update this when possible to be considered 2 of the checkbox questions require ONE answer only to be selected. Selecting more than this will void your application. Please ensure that your selections meet the criteria before closing to avoid disappointment. As a gentle reminder, it is on you to make sure your application is correct and accounted for. I don't mean to be harsh, but there won't be enough time in the day to check everyone profiles 😄😄 😄 If I do it for one, I'll have to consider doing it for all. This is a head to head series I have been working on that puts cars we can't always directly compare on Dirt Rally 2.0 against each other. Episode 1 puts one of the fastest Rally GT cars against the RX Audi S1. Episode 2 is Subaru vs Mitsubishi, you'll be suprised how they stack up on the current leaderboard. Hope you guys enjoy and have some suggestions for future battles!

Obviously I didn't make it. Work needed my undevoted attention. Bare in mind that I work from home at the moment like everybody else around the globe, in the same room were my rig is standing so that's kind of self tormenting knowing a race is going on.

Sorry, I must have missed that thread. I'm actually quite active on the forum every year towards the end of development of each F1 game and I try to reply to as many audio related threads as possible, providing everybody is polite and constructive.

Had to make some adjustments which needed a new league creation. At user: GIRIKI i couldn't send a message through psn so for you also. If there's anyone hunting Platinum trophy on PS4, and still needs their league medal trophy, I will be hosting a league especially made for these players. When: SATURDAY 2nd of MAY from 21.00 Amsterdam time till 22.00 hours. it's made up for 5 lap races in brazil/Austria, and the league/lobby can hold only 3 persons including me, so there will be a small waiting period, but this way the trophy is guaranteed for everyone. No mic. Required, just apply for the league and according to the apply order I will be working down the list. The league is called CMPS4TROPHYnew but you can only enter it by this code: CM#_ NXNMK9 (you can enter/apply from this moment on) once you're done, please leave the league asap or get kicked 🤪 It's a simple build up and also a try out for me, but people are having issues with this trophy, so this is my way to help you out. Because IMO it's just a stupid trophy requirement forcing people to run league races while they like online but a league is just a step too far. 1 thing: BEHAVE OR YOU WILL BE KICKED BEFORE YOU GET THE TROPHY! All assists will be available to use, the lobby is meant to be ad quick as possible to help as many people. I'm not always a complete **** 🤣

I hope this thread gets a little bit of attention... Topic: F1 2019 don't let us invite friends to ranked lobbies anymore. Why they probably done that: To ensure, friends don't boost each other to ranks they don't deserve. To ensure, friends with D rank don't get invited to S or A lobbies. This leads to: Many players stopped playing lobbies at all. The playerbase is obviously smaller than in F1 2018. S-Lobbies are rare. To find lobbies at all, they put S-players in C/D-Lobbies nethertheless. Most time you will find no ranked lobby at all 25% lobbies are dead. plus: ranked is not a bit fairer than in F1 2018 My personal experience: I am a community leader from germany. We are 750 gamers and 70 active F1 players (in our 3 leagues) at the moment. Our community and the friends from other german communities loved F1 2018 and loved playing ranked together. We don't have a single unfair player with us. Almost everyday a few of us played ranked together and we enjoyed that a lot. It is a good distraction from league races. ...Why would you play alone when you are in teamspeak with other people. Now we as a whole community stopped playing lobbies... From what I read hear and on reddit, ranked is not a bit fairer than in F1 2018. Also boosting was never a problem in F1 2018. Not like in other games like rocket league (where you still can play ranked with friends and it works great). "Just play unranked" Most players just play to compare themselves with others in competitive manner. And almost every other game let people do that with their friends. PC-Gamers trend to play games in teams und often don't care about unranked modes at all. Also unfair players are allowed to crash you in every second corner without any punishment. You can't avoid this people in unranked. We want to play together with other people online the drive as fair as we do. Suggestion There will still be people out there that will disagree with this thread. I hope all players that usually play ranked alone won't dislike this thread straightforward. 1) There is a simple solution: Bring friend-invites back, but if the safety rank of the invited player don't fits the regulations of the lobby put him in visitor state. Of course: In a C-Lobby you should still be allowed to invite S-ranked friends as they should be aware of possible D-ranked players in this lobby. @Faya Kind regards, iosis

Hey guys, I didn't find a wishlist thread discussing only about stages and locations. So I want to know your opinion, if you could choose 6 new locations for DiRT Rally 3, which ones would you choose and why? In my opinion the most important thing is to increase the number of stages in the current locations, adding stages in different areas of each country to have more variety in the environments. If we have that, I’ll be happy with just these four new locations: Ireland: I don't know why, but I love these narrow stages with that grass growing in the middle of the road. Indonesia: mud, narrow bridges, villages, palm forests, and it's a very nostalgic location for those who played rally games in the late 90s and early 2000s. Corsica: just because we need more tarmac stages and Corsica is classic. Kenya: I don't think I need to explain.

Cool thread, really took me back in time. I remember Network Q Rac rally on dos, my first rally game, that's where I fell in love with the Cosworth. It had Skoda Felicia which I think I never saw again in any rally game. The intro was awesome. For some reason I remember being afraid of the service area screen, lol. I was a weird kid. Mobil 1 was amazing, I couldn't believe how long those stages were. Then came CMR2.0 on psx, such a stylish game. I loved its minimalistic design. Still miss Seat Cordoba. RBR blew me away with its realism, which didn't stop me from finishing it on the hardest difficulty with a PS2 controller. Later I bought my first serious wheel (logitech's driving force ex), discovered how immersive ffb is and never went back to the gamepad. PS2 in general had many great rally games. Colin Mcrae Rally 4, Colin Mcrae Rally 2005, WRC4, WRC: Rally Evolved. Each great in its own way. Especially the last one, it was so intense with its lively co-pilot, running spectators, crazy random events and really good handling. PS3 era was lacking in terms of rally games. Milestone got hold of the WRC licence and didn't deliver, the games were bland, uninspired. The only good rally game on PS3 that I remember was Sega Rally Revo, but it was arcade. Milestone then redeemed themselves with SLRE, a very good game, but with Dirt Rally a new history is being written. It was UK Rally Gateshead. Roads were very similar to DR2's Scotland in my opinion: fast, but technical and full of ditches and tree stumps. Honestly I'd take gravel handling from DR2, but tarmac from RBR. :)

I would say more stages with combined surfaces, like 40% Tarmac and 60% gravel. And more things like watersplash, which you see in WRC for instance

No, I just mean that your rank should be based on your lap times. as a much better gauche for actually how good you are and what level leagues you are looking for. Just to make it easier for people to eyeball just from his profile about how fast someone probably is. This can make it a lot easier finding leagues by using the ingame interface (because you can see how fast most people are compared to you) As it is now the ranks people have don't really give you any information on their skill as you can easily get high rank in these chaotic races because not a lot of people play it anyway. My point is that by basing someone's rank on actual lap times (either from the racing that you do, or using the time trial times which will be a lot easier to implement) it will be a much closer representation of their pace and give others and the driver himself valuable information as to how he would compare pace-wise to others (as it is an average it wouldn't really tell track by track obviously but that's only good) This would also make it easier for ranked lobbies to be formed of similarly skilled players and have more people play it. The safety rating is one thing up until a certain point but in the end the most crashes happen because people brake at different points (or *gulp* use brake assist and brake check everyone everywhere) so it would also be a better way to make fair and exciting lobbies and have people actually keep playing it because they get matched with people they can have good fights with.

Since I've started playing the F1 games online I've been amazed at the way it is handled in the Codemasters games. There is a host, that sets up the lobby and gets used for several checks it seems, and the hosts pc seems responsible for driving the ai bots and the safety car. For the rest, to my understanding, everyone is connected with everyone and all those connections can have individual problems. That this leads to a lot of instability doesn't have to be said. Everybody knows the sight of desynced ai cars of people who are actually driving but (temporarily lost connection to someone, but not others) Here's a clear example of this: ttps://clips.twitch.tv/CaringInexpensiveAlmondPlanking And what the car behind him sees. F1_2019_2020.04.25_-_21.01.45.02_Trim.mp4 If this 'desync' lasts long enough this ai car is driving somewhere else for everyone, and even worse: though the AI is set to 100 (to negate these problems) The ai still drives like a total ****** appearing to give people space and then closing the gap without mercy. F1_2019_2020.04.25_-_21.01.45.02_Trim_Trim.mp4 The person in question has no idea this is happening, he can see all the other cars, and it might have been a temporary hiccup in the connection that the game isn't able to fix. The second example is with regard to the safety car: So the safety car is driven by the 'host' pc. And whenever the host has a small connection issue, goes into the menu, or tabs out to respond to people in discord begging for a restart, for example, This happens: https://clips.twitch.tv/SmilingCoweringCoffeeYouDontSay As funny as it looks, (Personally i think it's hilarious), this is a perfect example of what it feels like to do online racing right now, and, in my opinion, a good reason to start using servers that drive the safety car and not be dependant on the drivers in its functioning. And thirdly I just think a lot of the issues come from having 20 different simulations run on 20 different PC's with nothing actually keeping track of it all. Then I think of people reconnecting and their time being off like this: (The lad got disconnected from steam at the end of lap 27 and rejoined RIGHT before the end of s2 in L28) He finished in p5 (because of the disconnect) but the game still put him in p1 by 18 seconds because of that one lap. Big issue in my opinion! where someone is on track doesn't matter, just what his client THINKS is the sum of all his laps. Their client doesn't know what happened before they came back and the rest just trust it. This problem also shows itself in close finishes where the wrong car wins according to the game. Apart from the things everybody already knows about like checks being missed on starting the lobbies. or just in general: The fact that if the wrong person has a game crash, loses connection to steam, the whole lobby is bugged for minutes if not till the end. This brings me to the last point and that is Steam. I love steam as much as the next guy, but in a game where a 'match' takes so long and getting disconnected for even half a minute can be SO punishing to your overall race (and thus enjoyment of the game) I feel it's madness to keep reliant on them to organize the online part. Apart from the fact that if steam goes down without notice around race time we're royally screwed most of the time, it just happens too often that people get briefly disconnected. (And then I mean that if it does NOT happen during a full 50% race to at least someone it's worth a small celebration) The only thing using steam is good for is that it's a good way to give the blame to someone else if it doesn't work, but seeing as it's your choice to use steam and have people instantly send back to the main menu the moment steam derps out... The ball is with Codemasters on this one and if they are truly serious about making this game work this is something they will absolutely have to look at. ---------------------------------------- Also, I'd think that, apart from improving stability, this would make it so much easier to implement other things that everybody's been asking for like actual replays of the races, allowing more people (spectators, race directors) in the lobbies, and allowing us more control over said lobbies on the fly, during the race, like (removing) penalties, initiating (virtual) safety cars, and not having to wait for 5 laps to kick that one troll in open lobbies. If I'm totally wrong and all these issues can be easily fixed even while still using loose p2p web lobbies then, by all means, prove me wrong, but having played the last 3 online quite a lot I am starting to think this is the cause of a lot of the issues.

Hey Empire while I do agree with your sentiments I DON'T think that either method should be boosted or made quicker. Inputs should be linear so the more accurate your method is the better you do. It IS physically possible for a controller user to match a wheel user without boosts IF they are very highly skilled and delicate with their control. Extremely hard but possible. I'd hate for someone with that skill and heard earned experience to be given an unnatural disadvantage. I have no problem with pad users being given any kind of boost in Career but not in mp. Should be equal input calibration for everyone then. Separating lobbies into one or the other method would be the ideal way to do it for compete fairness.

With even More Assists Options , (which I understand for the new Drivers out there) it just become more imperative to SPLIT to Leaderboards and Lobbys. Because currently , you have the situation where the Best Drivers in the World, will still run some Assist combo that doesnt slow them down at all , and makes them more consistent and easier to drive. This means they are winning the battle, but should not even be in the same Lobby/Leaderboard as the other bloke slugging it out with everything OFF , MAX Difficulty enabled. If you want to have all abilities and Assists in the same Lobbies and Leaderboards , then some sort of a Handicap system like gholf should be applicable,

I honestly found WRC 8 to be inferior to WRC7 in both handling (with a controller) and graphically, and its UI to be atrocious. 30fps on even the most powerful console available was a joke frankly. And I don't see any improvement in the above video. My impression is 'why do they bother'. I seriously doubt this studio will ever be capable of a game anywhere near the quality of DR.

Hi Codemaster-Team, please make it possible to save Replays to a file and watch it later. As a VR player I'd really like to watch replays in normal 2d Fullscreen Mode and record it for Youtube! With Shadowplay and VR Replays run on the cinematic wall only without fullscreen. can't be that hard 😉 thanks and goodbye

Nice photos @Godderis - think I'm in one of those! Ypres/Belgium would 100% be top of my wishlist, but TBH I don't mind if they don't introduce any new locations. In fact, I'd ideally save completely new countries for DLC and start with 8-10 of the locations from DR2, but done with an extra couple of stages for each. This means a) they don't get accused of selling old content in the same way if the DLC 'seasons' contain, say, 1 new and 1 updated location and b) we're not doing the same 20kms on a loop for 12 stages. Let's say, 8 locations: - New Zealand with Kauri or Matira (bit more open farmland, lessen the amount of time on the coastal stage) - USA with any 2 additional stages - Germany with some much requested Mosel Valley stages - Wales with Myherin or Gartheinog/Dyfi - Finland with a couple of more technical stages (and without the blasted fog!) - Scotland (again without fog) and the Griffin stage - Sweden with Rammen - Monte Carlo (call it France) with a more typical stage without a mountain pass and some small villages; I really enjoyed Curbans-Piegut the year I was there, for example *I picked these at semi-random, the locations we have in DR2 are all so well modelled - would be just as happy with a different selection I'd much rather something like this than lose the classic stages we already have in lieu of starting from scratch again personally.

Thanks both. Turns out it was a combination of wheel settings (saturation), set-up (ride height too high, suspension too stiff), and a little re-education, combined with - and this seems to be the most important part - downshifting into the corners. I use auto gears atm until I get up to speed, and really noticed the difference engine braking can make shifting down manually!

Hopefully they never put it in. Amount of times I’ve been smashed off track because someone’s friend was the back marker. Also can’t think of a single other game that lets you queue into a ranked “Free for all” with a friend. Why do you guys think that it would work for this? 🤔
