Will be around a week @baboonJay, depending on a few factors: Amount of applicants I believe is the highest we've ever seen Working from Home and 'My First BETA' could make the decision process a little longer while I make sure all is correct. However long it takes for me to get the list together and the right candidates. Successful applicants will be contacted via email

Another Thursday, another F1® 2020 hotlap for you. Join us in saying "Hola España!" as we head to the fiery Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the latest hot lap from the upcoming F1® 2020 game. Ride on-board with Carlos Sainz in his McLaren as he takes on this classic high-speed track ahead of the weekend's Spanish Virtual Grand Prix. Eagle-eyed fans of the previous game will notice the subtle changes in the elevation between turns 13 and 14, with particular care taken on tweaking the final sector. Whilst we can't be at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in person, we've lined up a stellar roster for the Spanish Virtual Grand Prix this Sunday, May 10th. From 6pm BST on Sunday, Manchester City hitman Sergio Aguero, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Barcelona's midfield general Arthur Melo will be racing on the virtual Spanish circuit. As for the pros, you can expect fierce competition between Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, George Russell, Nicolas Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Alex Albon - fresh from his maiden Virtual Grand Prix victory in Brazil. Its been a hot topic the ERS management in the game, and I do agree the micro management every corner needs to go, but ers control still needed in the game. It is a bit worrying in the latest video game released lap of Spain the driver does a whole lap in 'overtake' mode surely that should be changed to hotlap? Yesterday there was feature on SkyF1 channel where they spoke to Hamilton and Valterri and they both confirmed the drivers do have control over ERS in the car, contrary to what people think Lando said, he actually said the way this game handles it is not realistic, but they do have some form of control. Lewis spoke about in the race changing his 'SOC' -State of Charge mode on certain laps to try and claw back the deficit he had, putting his SOC to mode 1 to deploy more energy and changing back to another mode on other laps to get energy back. Obviously these are pre defined maps but prove drivers do manage ers in race. He said the team are not allowed to tell him what mode to use he must decide. Hence when he asks for more power on the radio he says he's not only asking to increase his STRAT and HPP (high performance power) modes of the engine but also his SOC mode. Valterri explained that when they get permission for more power they must change those three modes and also have the option of the OT (overtake) button I really hope the game this year allows us control still over ERS but simplified and less micro management every corner, which it looks like it does, although it seems weird this year. But they also need to give us the option to assign an 'OVERTAKE" button that allows us max deployment, but the words im hearing basically say they won't include a button like that because the controller players won't have enough buttons to assign

you must also fix the curb in turn 11 because it is still too High, even the other curbs do not seem very realistic to me, in 2021 we urgently need the laser scanner of the tracks. For the rest there is still a lot of understeer So much work to do in the beta and one way to go, simulation.

This video gives me hope that they've removed the Suzuka bump and fixed the Spa chicane elevation as well.

With overtake displayed on the dash i hope we have a simpler ers system with override button for overtake mode unless it’s just a refresh of modes 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 from 2019 and will now show 0, 1, 2, 3, O & H instead

F1 have laser scanned models of all the tracks they race on, its part of the 'Grade 1' status of becoming an F1 track so they have accurate models, they require it for safety reasons, planning etc. As codemasters have the Official licence from F1 obtaining this data shouldn't have been too hard

The track is still has nothing in common compared to real life. The small elevation change improvement in the last chicane is all. Compare the track in the video with the track of pre season testing. Not a single kerb is right...

For me the Renault engine sound is a bit odd bit that doesn't really matter. The next thing I noticed were the elevation changes in t13/14. The game looks less understeery compared to the zandvoort hotlap. You can also cleerly see that the graphics haven't been the main focus on this years game wich doesn't really matter as long as the rest is improved!

Looks like they’ve listened and updated the curbs in sector 3 of Spain. Here’s the article with the details.... https://www.formula1game.com/2020/news/ride-on-board-sainz-s-mclaren-for-a-hot-lap-of-circuit-de-barcelona-catalunya-in-f1-2020

I am 100% understanding in this situation and respect your decision. Atleast you have been honest about it which i highly appreciate, something that was missing on these forums for years tbh. So thank you for always being honest and clear about certain situations🙂

Both of these. Codemasters, I bet you could find a few coders who are geekish and determined enough to take on something like beefing up the realism factor and turning this game into the Pinnacle of Motor Sport Games. Please get them working on stuff like this.

Hello Codemasters Team I am really surprised how much the wishes from the forum are taken into account, be it the engine sound or the wheelbase of vehicles. Yes and this game is really epic from February 2019 to May 2020 the game has been extended constantly ! 81 cars and 26 locations I would not have imagined even in my wildest dreams. Thanks also for the nice extras between through BMW M1 or Black&White Liveries or the Solberg Liveries Great surprises ! Also a big thank you to @ChristinaMc and @PJTierney who took care of all the requests and also a thank you to all the people in the forum who pointed out details of the cars and mistakes in the game. I hope the next Dirt will be as big as the last one and when Codemasters listens to the forums again it will be fantastic

Thanks @sloppysmusic, yeah I'm pretty much fighting fit now. I can run again for short bursts, which is all I need for football when we are lockdown-free. Appendix decided to blow up and rupture inside me, which was fun. Interesting Thursday that was, from what I've been told. Explained my 3 week absence in Feb/March. Will get something on the interview, I'd love to know the exact date this interview was done. I think the only real comment here is that we are a 'Work In Progress' and, like everything, details are subject to change.

Yes it is. You can watch videos on youtube of teams explaining the SOC mode on the steering wheel and how it works, changing the deployment map etc. Yes Rosbergs crash was caused by both being in the 'start' HPP mode and wrong SOC mode, again another great piece by SkyF1 where Rosberg recapped his entire 2016 season and he spoke about that race Here is a link of the official Mercedes page where they talk about the 'STRAT' mode controlling energy etc https://www.mercedesamgf1.com/en/news/2019/03/how-does-an-f1-steering-wheel-work/ Also here's the actual SOC (ers) dial on the Ferrari wheel

Hi @ChasteWand, I think a 'wall of silence' is rather a dramatic way to look at this in my opinion. The issues I run into with your questions are in the bold quote above. As everything with 2020 at this moment in time, and for wide-ranged legal and announcement reasons, I cannot disclose legally anything outside of the official statements and media provided from Codemasters regarding the 2020 game. To be honest, there is nothing more than that right now. Once information is made available for disclosure, I'll disclose it.

Hi @THEHAMZAGAMER12, In the interest of fairness for all, I wouldn't feel comfortable disclosing this information. We've had a LOT of applicants for this years BETA, and I'd personally prefer to keep decision making with the Codemasters team, as some difficult decisions may have to be made with only so much space available.

It's really nice to see the effort you took into making the new Zandvoort circuit. I can imagine it must have been very difficult with the lack of resources available from the real circuit. And you have done an amazing job to give it a nice F1 feeling with the extra grand stands, the F1 sponsoring (I really like the addition of Heineken's no alcohol before driving sponsoring, nice job there) and all the flags (Tho i have to admit the white-orange flags between T12-T13 and after T14 are a bit too much imo). It works really well and makes it standout as an F1 game compared to other sims which just mimic the standard facilities around the track without the temporary F1 circus. However, with that said, I think there are some issues which require your attention to make the model of this track more accurate: Kerbstones: Some of the kerbstones look rather big, which has some influence in how you experience the track. Some kerbs on the inside look very high, especially when you compare it with the onboard of Verstappen's first lap on the new circuit To further explain: -Some kerbs on the inside have the right size, but are a bit too high imo (like inside T1, T10, T13). -inside kerb of T12 has wrong shape. Here you use the kerb that goes up, but irl this kerb is completely flat (just like exit kerbs on the outsides). More like the inside kerb of T9 which in this game is pretty spot on actually. -Kerbs on the outside at exits seems rather large on horizontal level (like exit T3, T8, T10, T12, T13). Especially the size of the red-white blocks make it look large and i think they should be smaller. Imo the size of these kerbs make the circuit on itself look very small and narrow, while on real-life onboards I honestly dont experience this extreme. -The kerbs with short apexes (inside T8 & T11) are way too high and has kind of the wrong shape. Now these kerb unsettle the the car quite a lot while irl you could take a lot of this kerb. In the game (and the F1 mapguide video), the DRS activation is only on the start-finish straight, activated just after T14. However, the whole idea of making this turn a banked turn was to enable DRS trough this corner (without banking the corner was already flat out). I'm really curious what the reasoning for you is to only enable drs on the straight and not in T14. Is this from information you got from F1 itself (and F1 didnt even want to enable DRS trough T14), Or is it something you thought would work better (for example the game mechanics not making it possible to make that turn with DRS open). In my opinion the worst mistake you made and a very big detail: The banking of T3. You made this turn with equal banking (banking the same over the entire width of the track). However, the real life circuit has made parabolic banking through T3, which means that on the inside at the kerb the track is flat and the banking increases the wider you go from the apex. Just look at this comparison of game vs real-life and a schematic which illustrate the difference. Now if you can improve these points which i mentioned here, I think you have a track which is very spot on (Especially T3 needs to be redone, because imo this looks kind of amateurish with lack of research).
