Hi all Hope this is OK to post just wanted some advice. I've had a bit of a play on an F1 game before. Think it was 2016. Still very much a rookie. Can anyone recommend or give me any tips? I'd quite like a career mode where I stay for a couple of years and then maybe move up. First couple of years with no real pressure and can afford to get used to it and be at the back end if needed. Any teams that I can do that with? Also, how does the R&D work. Is it all technical as I like the game but I'm not a big F1 fan so it doesnt make that much sense. Anything I should target? Thanks for any help anyone can give me

https://www.slightlymadstudios.com/madness/ instead with the collaboration of SMS, with the new generation it will not be a dream. I recommend reading this, what SMS programmers are capable of doing. Now that they are one with Codemasters, we could open a wonderful cycle of F1 games, going towards simulation.

Imo, at least the tire model / ers & fuel simulation, and the ffb need to be made much more realistic, if we will not go the full sim route for whatever reason. Casual players and newcomers already got more than enough options to slowly move up the ranks. So we do not need to continue the quest of catering towards them at such a extent. Now it's time that the ones who like to compete on a higher level, including E-Sports or leagues etc., and love the simulation aspect of racing, also finally get some bang for the buck. Especially cockpit driving deserves a lot of love (ability for Multiplayer lobbies or leagues to force cockpit camera view onto everyone, steering wheel screen with multiple pages that are loaded with vital info, higher look to apex angles, helmet cam, VR etc.). There is still lots to improve.

More than likely I imagine it will be the same as the last time. PS4 and Xbox one came out in Xmas 2013 the last game for PS3 Xbox 360 was F1 '14. F1 2015 was the first for that (xbox one PS4) generation. We'll probably see F1 2022 to be the first game on the new gen. Makes sense as the new rules will be introduced by then

@sloppysmusic may not be Codies staff, but he’s right here. Proof of correct use of the forums and unique bug reporting, in the correct format, is the first thing I’ll take into consideration when deciding between similar applicants. And I AM Codies staff, so hold me to it all you like 😜

Pretty sure the cockpit view in the video for Spain and Zandvoort have been tweaked from the default (which I’m imagining will be closer to the cockpit view we’ve seen in previous F1 games) to appear closer to the wheel and have more extreme “look to apex” setting to look more dramatic for the videos. All the settings will be able to be tweaked as with previous F1 games dependent on the players tastes.

Wow mate that's EXACTLY what I do too. I also do all price drop upgrades too first before spending money. Then the upgrades start arriving thick and fast sometimes several each weekend! The only problem with this method though is that only the middle game is a level field. For almost 2 seasons you're dead last, then you have a great sesson or 2 where you make some huge gains, climbing through the field race by race until you win your first championship. Then you can leave the field behind and have an OP teammate who you can't beat by season 5 when you are fully upgraded. Someone could write a whole guide on the different ways to play career depending on what you want to get out if it. My simple advice would be to just make sure you are loving the racing itself and set goals you can reach. I think the most fun starts happening when you stop thinking about wins and podiums and instead realize how much fun it is to battle against other drivers and teams on a level with yours. Finishing 14 a few car lengths ahead of your rival in 15 th feels pretty amazing. THAT'S when you get F1 itself, and realize there are multiple battles going on all the time around you no matter what your position.

well, a) they've said 10 countries. b) I expect they're counting multiple routes per discipline per location. so, there will probably be more than 2 or more ice tracks on the river in NYC, but they've also said that there will also be racing in the city in other seasons. as a quick comparison, Dirt 2 had 9 countries and about 30 total routes. Dirt 3 had 10 locations and ~64 routes (including all rally routes, many of which overlapped or reversed), plus the 6 Gymkhana areas and Battersea compound. so expect a similar amount of content to Dirt 3, but with sprint car racing instead of gymkhana. that's pretty good in my opinion (except for the sprint cars haha), especially if there's more variety in the rally routes (even if the absolute number of them is lower).

Let's wait until it's available but for me it sounds as a fun racer for gamepad couch coop ... so nothing for me.

I'm guessing they'll save the first next-gen game to run on a new/updated engine as they did with 2015. They've probably been developing the new Dirt for a while longer with no obligation to release a new game every year. We can probably expect F1 2021 to be a bigger change and to be built from scratch for the new platforms, fingers crossed they won't repeat the same mistakes and have a fully fledged game ready for the first iteration unlike '15.

The only reason this is currently the case @hangar1851 is for much wider-ranging legal and announcement reasons. We currently only have certain amounts of information for a reason, and it is not in my job role to be disclosing new information outside of the current official channels, neither is my intention to. This is pretty common knowledge across the forums, and accepted as normal in the gaming world. Where I cannot make the decision for you, I'd recommend staying tuned for official news, updates and information. As soon as I have any information for the general fan-base, its always posted on here 👍

To @BarryBL I am judging your efforts on 2 points. Point number 1 is how F1 2019 is not very good. Graphics are great, Brian Tyler's theme is in, the presentation looks legit, but, as I listed in an earlier post, there are so many things that are wrong with it that 2019 is broken, or borderline broken. A baffling penalty system, A.I. that drives into you as if you aren't there, unrealistic ERS in Multiplayer, and curbs that the A.I. driver over fine, but we drive over them and we spin into a wall. To put out another game a year later, it looks, from the outside, and as a consumer, that it is a lick of paint and some extra modes. Point number 2 is that it looks like no one who works for Codemasters is willing to tell us, the people who buy these games, if the things that we, the consumers and players, are saying are broken or need to be looked at, are in fact being looked at. A little bit of "Well, we can't tell you that" comes across as "You'll just have to buy the game to see if we have!", which is a little bit unfair to us. I want to support these F1 games, I really do, as does everyone else in these forums. And, all these complaints that we post in here, we are trying to help make it the best F1 game ever. I'm not trying to be combative, I just want to know that if I pay the $130 for the Schumacher Edition, that I am getting a game that is fun and enjoyable, not a game that plays like F1 2019 with all the weird stuff that goes on in it. I want you and the rest of Codemasters to prove me wrong, to make purchasing F1 2020 something worthwhile, not more money down the toilet. I hope what I am saying seems fair.

The first thing to say on this story is the the first line of the story. "The general consensus is that you can’t be as fast on F1 games on a pad as you can be on wheel & pedals". Agreed with this. The top 1% of players all play on wheels, and that is for a reason. I can't confirm anything on the new PS5 controllers or how they will behave moving forward. There is no concrete proof of any performance difference at all. There is no data of proof or any evidence of anything pushing the pad vs wheel debate, which we ended in a statement a long time ago. You're first statement @advanceapple is simply not true. the article is an opinion piece demonstrating the new improvements of the controller, and has nothing to do with comparative performance against certain games.

This could be quite a fun forum-only competition I could run perhaps? MyTeam creator. Add things like: Real-life inspiration (or inspiration in general) Story of your MyTeam (word count limited) Customised Details of your MyTeam Obviously, this is a LONG way off happening and I'd have to get some more details together. Voting done my other users for some sort of reward?

Exactly! Already own the biggest market just as it is. Why would they invest considerable money and time into making a sim as well? That would only happen if their sales started to taper off but with new people buying the game each year they can afford to lose a few to dissatisfaction. If you already have a good thing why risk changing it? They have the long term contract extended cos F1 management were pleased with the game. The only way you would get a sim is if F1 game back and said they wanted a more accurate and serious sim and invested a large sum to offset the extra development budget. F1 would only do that if they wanted to train lots more drivers or to run a pro esports league. Seeing as the exclusivity of the real life F1 series is part of the appeal diluting it down would make little sense. It would make more sense to work on a game to promote the other open wheel series that work as feeders to f1. That would make more people watch the 'lesser' events as well. Except casuals just want to be racing the fastest and biggest series, F1, making the whole idea appeal to a limited market. If it could be done cheap by using the assets of SMS who already made fairly accurate open wheel cars in project cars 2 then it wouldn't be such a risk. But seriously NONE of this is gonna happen. Nobody takes risks of any kind anymore in the software industry. Sorry!

Quick answers : They won't They might They won't They won't They'd lose too many customers if it was a sim unless they also included an arcade version. Gran Turismo did it back in the day when they had career and arcade as totally different modes. Although career was really arcade tbh and arcade was arcade light 🤔😎

@ChrisGrovesMCM I’m sure you’ve seen all these posts but I thought I would tag you anyway to help the community. And I’m sure your working on the problem. I at least hope. But again I’m not mad or anything it would just be nice to get fixed.

I know what you mean, but you have to understand the difference between Pit Limit Button and Pit Limit Assist. The Pit limit assists is very unrealistic , because you can drive with full throttle to the pits and it will brake you down to the pit limit speed just in front of the pit entry line. Very bad solution in my eyes...CM should edit the pit limit assist...by slow you down 100-200 m before the entry.
