19 pointsHi everyone, Sorry guys, 'Codies silence' on the matter is purely because I've been mega busy with BETA-related stuff the past few days, as my league race 'performance' clearly showed. We've had a record amounts of applicants, and we've more data than ever to sort through and evaluate, it's taking myself and a lot of members a fair bit of time. On the ERS. we have taken feedback and information directly from F1 drivers and teams on how the system is used and deployed in real-life. We have been told from the teams/drivers that the current 2019 ERS management system was far too complicated and something that the F1 drivers do not engage in to this level. Therefore, we have made changes to create a system closer to real-life deployment strategies. Also, quick note here, some teams may have slight differences in how it is used, and we've been tasked to create a universally-accepted, but closer to reality, model. It is something that is due for further testing soon enough for successful BETA applicants (this will be available shortly) and one of the key things we would look for in review in Week One of testing.

18 pointsLegend says that anytime someone asks for the beta release date, it will be delayed by an hour. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to getting started sometime next winter.

8 pointsERS with micro management, switch ERS modes dozens of times in one lap--->people complain because it's not realistic (even Lando Norris did, and I think he knows a little bit more than us) ERS with no micro management which I guess has been adopted according to the drivers' feedback----> people complain because they want that back I say get your s**t together and think about what you really want

7 pointsMost of us who do are regulars who do it out of habit cos we appreciate the forums being a friendly helpful place. In normal life (pre-beta application) it can get pretty quiet in here so they is no such thing as a dumb question. In these times however it's getting silly. I logged on this afternoon for my usual hour but by the end I literally could not read the new posts fast enough to keep up with the pace they were being written. I feel sorry for any player who has asked a genuine question about the current game (F1 2019) today for example as it's been swamped with 'beta fever'. I gave up writing answers, fortunately there are others who are helping out too. None of us regular forum members (non staff) know anything about the NEW game other than what everyone else can see online especially on YouTube. The people who actually know (Codies staff) are not allowed to give specific answers yet due to the game still being worked on. BarryBL has been as helpful as usual and the audio guy too (sorry haven't learned your name yet mate!). On the one hand it's really good for Codies to have a vibrant online community with lots of Q&A, on the other hand people seem to forget that this is a message forum not a CHAT forum like discord is mostly. So clogging up all the threads with one or 2 word random comments will make it really hard for Codies to find genuine questions to answer, or harder for people looking for answers to find them. I'd really like to recommend people looking for answers especially about the new game use the SEARCH function first before posting a new question. Good chance you'll find your answer in there, I think we've seen most of them before lol. For those people new to the forums excited about the prospect of helping Codies make a better game i can assure you the best thing you can do is to browse through older threads. You might find a question there that was not fully answered because none of us here knew it but YOU DO know the answer or can fill us in with more details from your experience. We'd all love to hear of your experience and knowledge especially if you can solve the unsolvable for us! I'm sure some new good answers would help with your beta chances if not now maybe next time. It's a friendly community here and most helpful. Most of us are in for the long haul even if we get displeased with a release one year, there is always the next release to try to make better.

6 pointsAt the moment @Bicarda, I'm going to say that more details will be available in the BETA for the testers, and we can then can action feedback and give more info out too. We have de-briefs ready for BETA week one, and will go into the detail we are looking for for testing. By the bolded text, we meant that drivers do not have 6 modes they can freely change at any time they wish.
-
5 pointsHi everyone, The bolded quote from @AllenB2609 is not exactly true. They have a version of the game, with limited modes, on they will be on a previous 'media' build that isn't the most up to date one. Like @Nightfire1964 said, the game, in all facets, is still a work in progress and subject to change, as there are multiple builds of the game updated internally weekly that will never see the light of day. Game versions in development become old fast.

4 pointsThank's a lot! it is a big relief that this is indeed still subject to testing. Although i do only partially agree.. the real drivers do not engage with it 'while driving' as much. (in terms of clicking) But they do while setting up the car. and with different modes and settings there is still a lot more control than we seem to be getting this time around. Also: We are playing as the drivers AND the team in this game.. and the team DOES engage with it on this level. A realistic approach would be to have us make 3 different modes in the setups (for every part of the track specify exactly the ers mapping) This does look like it was just the easy way out... and removes a lot of strategy from the game if it's just the same for everyone. Can you also maybe explain how we're gonna make clear to the auto ers when we're backing out of a hotlap and want to start recharging for the next one? Or how the auto ers will know we are not looking to overtake the car ahead this straight, and not waste the ers? There are big fears this auto ers will force us to do a lot of things we wouldn't want to (like pitting because the auto ers is wasting it all during a lap you backed out off) Also it's a bit sad that we can't see the ERS mode the ai is in, instead we see the 1.... of being in ai mode.
-
4 pointsAll eyes will be on qualifying mode, as we need the abilty to abandon a lap and start again on another lap without all our ers disappearing. Also in free practice we need to be able to run at qualifying ers to practice our qualifying runs as braking points change with extra ers speed etc
-
4 pointsYou could start by reading the stickied beta topic. That being said you will get notified by e-mail if you get selected in due time.
-
4 pointsI hope all that people who ask how (or when) the beta will be launch will not be selected... 🤣

4 pointsWell 110% ai SHOULD be faster than real life, that's kind of the whole point of the extra 10%! 🤣

3 pointsHello guys, On the F1 2019 game, after the safety car has left, drivers are given the green flag to resume the race, however the leader controls the pace and there should be no overtakes until drivers cross the control line. I have had this in my league where I was the leader and the guy behind me overtook me before the line and got no penalty, below I will show you the rule where it says that; "No driver may overtake another car on the track until he passes the Line (see Article 5.3) for the first time after the safety car has returned to the pits. The race will be deemed to have started when the leading car crosses the Line after the safety car has returned to the pits." https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/2019_sporting_regulations_-_2019-03-12.pdf Also, if I get hit from behind I get a 5 seconds penalty, as if I brake tested someone.. even though I have not crossed the line nor braked. I wish I could participate in the 2020 Game Beta and contribute in order to make F1 as realistic as possible according to the rules. Thanks for reading. Maru

3 pointsThread can be closed It was confirmed by Lee Mather that all elements of the hud on consoles are now movable

3 pointsOne of the best things of 2019 was the ERS managment for me. As playing online I would do this trick many times. Would let the car behind pass me, because while in the lead I have to manage the ERS more to get away. But I usually let the car through and than let him use all of the ers, would sit behind for some 3-4 laps while having DRS and using low or none ERS mode. With staying in the striking distance I than choose one lap for all out attack on the car infront, using the overtake mode. With passing him I can than push for 2-3 laps and usually managed to get away from the DRS. That was the thing that made f1 2019 amazing. Hopefully we could still have at least low-medium-high ers mode using is manually and an strat mode 9 (overtake button). This is all I want.

3 pointsI know it has nothing to do with DIrty Gossip, but those new engine graphic looks almost real, and physics (when i remember, I started with Sega Game Gear 8-bit Machine 🙂 ).. I hope EGO will see much needed revision, Can You imagine DR 3.0 with this kind of Graphic, and much Longer Stages, with yet best physics..

3 pointsI've tested the auto ERS a lot in 2019. It went with 0 for the out lap then 5 till there was energy left. So I guess the out lap will be fine then I'm afraid it will work the same way. That's why I was asking about qualify. We don't have answers at the moment but the "old answer"/closest system we have seen in f1 games is the auto ERS and it created that sort of problem... EDIT: plus in the wet it's a common thing going out with more fuel to attempt multiple laps (the same happens at Monaco). And also studying closely the AI and its behavior the game/the AI thinks you're always in a flying lap even if you're 4 seconds over on the delta they let you pass and slow down (which is good but it reveals how the system tends to read the user in qualify). Also it impacts tyre wear. Cause if I'm happy with my time in Q2/short qualify the in lap used to be slow and with ERS off to preserve the tyres on which I'll start the race from the unnecessary wheel spin of high deployment modes...

3 pointsGuys. This is not a "free trial", early access or a demo. This is a structured BETA. If chosen, you're working as an extended member of the QA team. Lacking the ability to read clear instructions or lacking patience does not bode well for you.

3 pointsHi @TomAAA, Thanks for your post. Currently, this is a 'Work In Progress' build and still subject to change, and further improvements that may be already planned, that I cannot confirm or disclose at this time. I will take the immediate feedback back to the devs though. I think the term 'game breaker' (outside of the old-school FIFA street reference) is not exactly the correct terminology, but I can certainly pass on the response. I also would add that playing it and watching it does feel different from my 2020 testing/hotlaps. (Well, I'll admit mine are more 'slightly warm laps' compared to some of the guys here)
-
3 pointsIt is an on/off toggle like @Worntoathread stated. A 'hold' function wouldn't be the best thing to add as drivers will have enough to think about.
-
3 pointsI'm hoping the consoles will finally have the HUD customisation options the PC version has. Would be great to move some things around or make them more transparent.

2 pointsHi all this bug has been in the game since 2018 and it’s still there when ever there is a cut scene after the race the Monaco map appears. Watched a gameplay video of Bahrain and look it still appears. I know it’s not a game breaker but it really is just annoying to have in the game. I will also post the link to the video so you can view for yourselfs. https://youtu.be/hJeN4wTeaIM

2 pointsTrack extension seems to be a genuine problem (Inside Kerb of Turn 2, Inside Kerb of Turn 6 & 7, Exit Kerb of Turn 13). The way the 2020 ingame car behaves to kerbs though, that seems to be perfectly fine. If you saw the entire video of Tiametmarduk, he did spin when taking too much kerb at full throttle. Codemasters needs to work on Track Limits. Bahrain Layout: Turn2 Leclerc: Turn2 Tiametmarduk: Turn2 Exit Leclerc: Turn2 Exit Tiametmarduk: Turn6 Leclerc: Turn6 Tiametmarduk: Turn7 Leclerc: Turn7 Tiametmarduk: Turn7 Exit Leclerc: Turn7 Exit Tiametmarduk: Turn13 Exit Leclerc: Turn13 Exit Tiametmarduk: PS: Why are the tracklights on during daytime? This was a issue back In F1 2019 the game as well.
