I started a new thread, but it’ll probably get missed. Huge news today https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/codemasters-has-secured-the-official-world-rally-championship-license/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Well this is fairly substantial news! Absolutely overjoyed this has finally happened! Congrats to the Codies team past and present, that have made this happen https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/codemasters-has-secured-the-official-world-rally-championship-license/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Hi, I understand you, but I have to disappoint you, unfortunately, at least from beta history, there will be no more players added to the Beta at later stages and there will also not be an Open Beta. But don't worry, it's only 5-6 weeks to go until release 🙂

This is so cool and unexpected! Can’t believe we have to wait three years for it though! Hope the wrc is in good shape at that point for the game!

Lighting in-engine is always going to be tricky because you're trying to simulate a 3d volume on a 2d plane 🙂 Actual volumetrics are still low res like you say, and it's hard to make them look good. There is some cool stuff in Unreal Engine 4 though but it's still very expensive to run Destiny 2 uses volumetric fog to good effect here and there but as far as I know there's almost no one who uses "true" volumetrics for anything other than skies or small fog patches. The skies in Horizon 3 and 4 use HDR sequences together with Motion Vectors to blend between the frames. They capture real skies with a bunch of cameras over a long period of time to get all sorts of conditions. There's a GDC talk about the skies in Forza Horizon 3 and they improved it for FH 4.

I've been league racing since the F1 2013 days and have done over 450 races... never did I experience so many reliability issues on my car than on F1 2019. It's mainly the rear wing/DRS... in the last 3 races alone my DRS failed twice on me for 5-7 laps (Russia/Mexico) and it's just not fair and really annoying. We practice a lot but keep getting robbed of a chance to win thanks to something so unnecessary. Takes the fun away. In Mexico yesterday it was even worse because from the moment it failed on lap 4, my rear was uncontrollable in sector 2, I wasn't sure why until I realised my DRS was stuck open and I had no rear downforce, almost crashed and took someone out but was lucky to safe it. On lap 11 it suddenly fixed itself and the car was stable again.... cost be 5-6 seconds and the win in the end. Here comes my request: We should be able to deactivate car defects/reliability issues in the settings alongside the damage settings. Thanks!

I think the game should start to be able to track your records from game to game. I am on board since 2010 and before that I had a GP4 career from 2002 until 2010. so I would like to at least tell the game that I am a veteran driver who won the championship 4 times in my career. Think about it. There are scenarios in that who can spice up the F1 game. For example I am an old champion who is struggling to get a new contract in a top team so I try to make a smaller team better. also I want to be able to keep my number 6 and not having to give it to another driver when I start a new year with the new F1 game. I do 100% races and my season is usually during line in real life because I do practice and qualifying and race on the same day as it’s in real life. so this year latifi is getting number 6 and I have to think about using 66 again. This is unacceptable as a 4 times world champion 😉 any chance of getting such a feature in next game?

We have Dirt rally 2 to wait with so it's easy 😉

Really interesting to see how Codemasters plan moving forward with this news. I personally think it’s great news but I wonder if they’ll want to do something accessible similar to the F1 games for the WRC series, and also continue the DiRT Rally series at the same time for a more more hardcore sim experience. I can imagine WRC might have seen how popular the F1 games are and might want a similar kind of game to bring in new fans. On the other hand with them having the licence it might give them freedom as well with DiRT Rally to use more official cars and locations so everyone wins. Will be interesting to see how they approach things.

Hybrid cars still have a fully functioning petrol engine. The cars will sound the same as they do now.

Only 300 points or so between the top drivers, so one puncture or DNF could blow that wide open.

Few more small patches planned, but in terms of content we're essentially done. GOTY gets you everything.

That's great. Can Codies confirm 15th-21st June will take place?

Set the default sound source on the PC to what you want to hear the game through. If you use headsets with a USB dongle, try removing the dongle. The game doesn't support (pseudo) 5.1 or 7.1 well.

So, track limits? Edit: Honestly, what were they doing? It's hard to find wider bigger lines than those at Yas Marina after the first hairpin.

I used to hate it, but its starting to grow on me. It's pretty fun with a fairly loose setup.

While I personally don't see an issue here, I believe that Codemasters could easily add some value to this game for players that do have an issue with this. The solution would be to add options at the start of a career that allow the players to manually edit/choose details like those driver numbers. Options are great. 😉

We've seen so many we hired somebody to keep track of them all 😉 BRC have been running a series too, we shared their stream last night. Hoping to get the broadcasts up onto the YouTube later today. This isn't in the works, sorry.

Winning the Constructor's Championship is a Team effort! Big shoutouts to the whole Team, all the Engineers, the social medias and my boi Jeff, without whom we could not have done it. Oh yeah and @Flash224 also kinda did a decent job. 😉

You don't lose any distance driven by restarting the race, it's updated every time you cross a sector, so quitting mid race will still count that distance too 😉

I’ll agree with @JoanimaterF1 2020 GP on this one, I think 2021 will be the year they change which wheels are supported in line with new consoles.
