I was enjoying Dirt Rally 2.0 a lot until I got upset of listenning that emotionless and monochordic co-driver. It would be expected from frachise with a long list of sucessfull rally games to go the extra lenght to give the player a taste of real rallying. The co-driver in Dirt 2.0 sounds like he's speaking from inside a recording studio, the pacenotes are not fluid, and also very simple (the most harcore rally fans will understand this point). The co-driver doesn't react to crashes, continuing to give the pacenotes like a robot, not even does he warns you something as basic as you going the wrong way. I think Codemasters should consider this issue as it takes off a lot of the "rally feel" from the game, wich is a rally simulator. Take the example from former Dirt Games, specially Dirt 3, wich had a very realistic co-driver, albeit with some flaws naturally. Also the option of having a female co-driver would make sense to return, acounting a growing number of female gamers and also some men would enjoy that.

Just a guide to what the game is weighted towards, but here's a list of the achievements/trophies for F1 2020: https://www.trueachievements.com/game/F1-2020/achievements

Oh no, You guys copied Milestone's "Ghost"-based trophies. First time they used, it bugged (MXGP PRO). At least, there's no more maximum rank on online races, it was hugely frustrating every time trying to go clean, get hammered and yet receive a penalty... 10 clean races won't be a problem anyway

So I’ve been thinking a fair bit lately about what I’d like to see should there ever be another DiRT Rally or rally sim title from Codies. I’ve tried to keep them realistic, rather than suggest stuff that’s impossible it very far-fetched. Main thing for me has to be a new game engine. The EGO is a bit long in the tooth now, and we need something that can handle longer stages, and more details within stages. Below is a short list of things I would love to see implemented in a new rally sim. - Proper launch control for cars that have it IRL. I’m sure the developers have the ability to map the cars correctly, so we can have proper launch control for R5 & WRC cars. - Ability to catch cars in stages in Single Player and Multiplayer, pretty self explanatory - Longer stages. I’m sure most of the senior forum members are well aware that the reason we don’t have longer stages is due to the EGO engine capabilities. Hopefully with a new engine we could get 20km+ stages. - Increase in unexpected moments happening, such as other competitors broken down, and/or more crashed cars on stage. I don’t think there’s enough on DR2, I very rarely come across other competitors at the side of the road - A better mechanical damage system. Broken driveshafts, broken diffs, blown engines, alternator issues. I’m not sure if licensing issues affect mechanical damage, as I know they effect the amount of damage you can visually do to some cars. I don’t really have any requests for cars other than a few WRC such as the Octavia and Córdoba. I feel like DR2 has given us a fantastic selection if Rally cars not seen in a Rally game altogether before. Unless you count all the mod cars for RBR. If you have any other realistic suggestions, please leave them below.

I hope that future titles go more sim related, not that I’m knocking the gameplay because if Codemasters know how to do one thing perfectly it’s raw racing and, but DR2 almost felt like it had a few tweaked assists that couldn’t be turned off, but mainly it’s not the driving that’s the issue, for me it’s the cockpit cameras, we need an option to custom move the camera like you do in F1, I would like to change the field of view etc in camera options properly secondly the camera that was placed behind the front seats needs to return, even if it’s just for replays, miss that view from D4 also a big must for me is MASSIVE improvements to the physics and visuals of the windscreens, for example, if I have wipers on manual, and don’t use them, the full screen should be getting dirty all over to the point where I’m driving blind until I use them, I could drive full stages on DR2 without ever using the wipers and the dirt was firstly non existent and collected on the screen in a way that looked like the wipers were on, D4 had much better visuals on the windscreen I hope CM look to that game to inspire them for future titles which brings me to my next point, manual wipers, CM I know at some point one of your team will be trading this, this has been a request for the last 3 rally titles, in options, if we set the wipers to manual, they must be off at the start of a stage by default, only able to be used manually, not automatically set on.... please better co driver calls, please please please, not that they don’t do a good job, it’s that they just sound like they’re sat in a quiet room reading through the notes, I want a some urgency, adrenaline, between notes, some extra audio, push push push etc just a bit more realistic and creative? whatever the next game, NO MORE BUGGED TROPHIES, keep up the great racing CM, hope this helps 🙂

A feature I would love to see in Dirt 2.0 would be the ability to host a free roam dirtfish map on Multiplayer. It would open up to a multitude of opportunities and gameplay. I'm reminded of an older dirt game I used to have on the Xbox 360, playing multiplayer on the open world maps with friends, forming our own minigames and testing a range of cars. With the freeroam already implemented into the game it would be fantastic to see this as another addition to an already great game.

even if it disables leaderboards, I would still use it. If I run wide because I mess up, I want to drive myself back to the track, being reset usually results in an unreasonable time penalty, as well as breaks immersion completely. I've always hated auto resets and I still hate it, least favorite part of the entire game for me. If I fly off a cliff, let me die in peace, not be reset to the track. If I get lost in the woods, let me stay lost unless I /choose/ to be reset. If I make a mistake and to not wreck my car I have to steer between rocks, I don't want to then be reset and lose 15 seconds, when I could have driven back on track and only lose 3-4 seconds. 10 seconds can win or lose a rally.

I dont think they will lee replied to a tweet about Russels positive feedback so I think they are confident with it this year especially with the new assists that help with handling for people who struggle with it

If a real F1 driver thinks the handling is very good, no matter what CM can say, no?

Hello, As far as I could find an answer on the internet/forum it should be possible to have a keyboard input on the PS4 within DiRT Rally 2. I have a keyboard connected and working with the PS4, but it doesn't show as a connected device within DiRT Rally 2. Should I be able to work with the keyboard input on a PS4? If this is not yet possible, could this be implemented in an update? I use my keyboard for assigning extra buttons. Thanks in advance! p.s. I also own F1 2019 for PS4, in that game the keyboard is recognized and can be used as input device.

This bit I fully agree with. Either random failures are on for every car on the grid (AI and human) or they're not. Having your rivals in career mode suffer failures but not you kills the competition in my opinion. The possibility should be determined on a scale. The more worn a part is, the higher the chance of it happening. So while at 0% wear, a failure is highly unlikely (but still possible) whereas 80%+ it's just a matter of time. This would put more emphasis on looking after your car and investing in durability upgrades.

Vouch, I've driven in this league for the last 2 seasons and it's been an awesome time competing. I recommend everyone who is looking for a competitive league and who has some free time to participate. 👍

Need yo have a look at iracing is a proper work your way up sim from what I have heard. My highlights in f1 2019 are always daft ones. Shows a slow mo of me driving alone yet missedls that 5 by side overtake down main straight in Baku!

i forgot -add AI driver on the rally minimum 2 AI 2 AI behind you or 2 AI in front or 1 in front and 1 behind you -add heavy transfert physics for AI too for all category race -and for imerssive ( yes again ) add less colorful graphics for the decor because i have impression to drive teletubbies rally 2.0 dirt AI

Hi Folks, I bought F1 2019 for Xbox One about a week ago and since first day I haven't been able to connect to servers to play online. I have talked to Xbox Support and have done many things to try to solve it like: 1. Power Cycle 2. Uninstall and Reinstall the game 3. Soft reset, which restes the xbox without deleting the games 4. Try UPnP enabled and disabled And non of this options have worked, the issue is only with F1 2019 because I own F1 2018 and I can play it online, other games such us Gears, COD etc.. I can play them normally. My NAT is open. The rare thing is that leadboards are updated with my times and so on, but I cannot connect to servers. Plase Help!!!

When the FFB update got released, the notes said that they were still working on further refinement. I agree that FFB was better, at least compared to the almost non-existent thing that we got on release, but still not up to par to DR1. Was just watching this video from Gamer's Muscle and seems that he has the same opinion: So, is this it for FFB in DR2? Or can we expect further improvements?
  22. 1 point
Ok.. For myself and many others in our racing groups and communities that have left dirt rally 2 it's been solely because of the FFB on PC, here's why! 1) You are passing an engine rumble effect etc via the rumble motors available on some rims. For example, when using the Porsche rim for fanatec you feel some extra effects (that are absolutely essential) via the inbuilt rumble motors in the rim. However these rumble motors are NOT present in all Fanatec rims such as the Universal Hub etc. Therefore users using a no. Rumble rim, experience SIGNIFICANTLY reduced information vs those who have/use a rumble mote. these effects USED to be transferred VIA the motor (not the rumble motors in the rim) ala Dirt 4 etc. 2) Driving a vehicle on tarmac even at 30mph causes you steering wheel (in SOME* games and more importantly in reality) to move with mild chatter. This chatter is a mix of a myriad of forces such as uneven surface, camber, inclines, engine rumble, tyre flex, environmental forces such as wind ambient air pressure etc. and of course surface texture etc. All of these forces are stabilised in reality into a mild chatter/sway as you drive, you'll see even driving down a perfectly straight motorway at 80mph you wheel will have some movement even if only 1mm each way, but it can NOT be entirely dead in every possible respect. The laws of physics do not allow this in our objective reality. In Dirt Rally 2 a user (without a rumble effect rim on PC) can literally drive a stripped out, souped up insane beast of a machine, at over 120mph down a bumpy single lane road... and if you let go of your wheel (or hold it) it's entirely DEAD! Utterly lifeless where as in real life videos and real life in General, and other (proper) sims you hand will receive chatter and also some elasticity from the suspension / tyres etc on the uneven surface. There is NOTHING in DR2! 3) When driving down a road and approaching a corner at 90mph, the steering should be heavier (power steering reduces at speed + downforce etc) and as you turn the wheel it should progressively get heavier the more you turn into the corner. This is again, due to the laws of physics as we have more friction and pressure, forces being applied to the tyres plus compression of the suspension and sway (centre of gravity) changing as weight transfer to the front / sides of the vehicle which make it progressively harder to turn the wheel the more we enter into the corner. (This is particularly evident on front engine vehicles in reality) However in DR2 you can literally blast down a road at 120mph and use your pinky finger to turn the steering wheel and the car pivots into the corner, causing a sawing effect at the wheel as there is no pressure fighting us as we try to turn. This is evident in a lot if YouTube videos where users saw at the wheel in corners, where in reality we would turn, the wheel would fight us, we would turn more, it would resist us more. Dirt Rally 2 has none of these effects meaning you can just hurtle down the road with you completely DEAD wheel, turn you wheel with 1 little pinky (and I'm using my Fanatec DD2 here!) and the car pivots into the corner in a laughable manner! In REALITY I've have to tense both arms and squeeze with pressure to get that car to turn into that corner. But the game provides NO resistance THRE FLEX etc. Additionally, when users approach corners on road surfaces, mane of them find after turning into the corner, they have to counter steer out, then turn back in a little, then turn back out a little.. causing a "sawing" effect which is NOT how it should be. It should be that we turn the wheel and the FFB tries to push us back, meaning we can then apply the correct amount of pressure to hold the wheel at the correct point that will get us around the corner in 1 held movement, instead of 6 sawing effects. 4) a fantastic example of tyre flex and pressure (FOR THIS EXAMPLE ONLY / NOT IN GENERAL) is ACC try turning a corner in ACC in a heavy vehicle. You will see that the wheel motion is smooth, aim for the Apex, feel how much the wheel pushes back, apply the correct amount of pressure round the wheel to balance / hold it in that location to get round the corner, it will fight, push and hit you back etc when you hit the kerb etc, but you anticipate that and "tense" to apply extra pressure then as you exit the corners Apex you begin letting the wheels self centre, and you reduce the pressure applied allowing the wheel / car to smoothly exit anf straighten up its self. NONE of this is evident in DR2 the user has to straighten the car themselves, constantly turning to much, then correcting, then turning again, over correcting etc because we get NO information from the tyres / forces / suspension etc we have to guess. 5) Those asking for tyle slip of fake under steer are incorrect and wrong! That effect needs to die in a fire! DO NOT ADD FAKE UNDERSTEER EFFECT! if code is are willing to make the FFB modable again, I'll upload my edit D3 FFBZ where I added a myriad of effects that enhanced the game 10fold. I added gear change kicks, road rumble effects, engine rumble, removed the fake understeer and added progressive weight (to a degree) but if they see what it was, and where it is now, they can get an idea of what's missing, as the FFB on this game is a shocking embarrassment for a "sim" (which it's not). The game is a good arcade game, running in bonnet cam On a pad is great! But it's terrible on a high end wheel, it actually feels better on childs toy products like the Logitech etc as they have rumble effects that high end wheels don't have. So in some cases the toy wheels feel better than the CSWv2.5 and the OSW and DD2 etc. So those running kids toys like Logitech and driving in bonnet cam, they love the game. But those running professional grade hardware and who want good FFB and DASHCAM aren't enjoying this and the numbers/reviews prove it. Most of the negative reviews etc are from hardcore sim racers/high end wheel users. Console users and toy wheel users absolutely love the game. So how can this be fixed? SIMPLE! 1) Bring back dash cam that was PIONEERED in Dirt Rally and PERFECTED in Dirt 4! That camera was SO good FORZA added it to FM7 and Forza Horizon 4... and now your biggest competitor added it to WRC 7! You guys PIONEERED that camera then removed it after everyone loved it and ALL your competitors added it? ***?? 2) LISTEN to high end non rumble wheel users and add the choice to divert / redirect ALL the forces to the motor! This is game could be spectacular, but it's just not as enjoyable to play as D4 or DR1 due to it feeling so lifeless and dead through the wheel. Additionally, if you can't make FFB work after 15 Dirt titles I have no faith the FFBZ in Grid will be any better, which is why none of the team/teams I race with are buying that product or supporting it. I may G2A it after a few months but none of us will buy it full price etc. Good of luck and take this post in any way you wish! Yes it's got a lot of negative remarks, but feel free to ignore them and focus on the actual content I'm providing in regard to that FFB. You don't have to like me or my post, but there is no denying... the force feedback is an effing embarrassment for what is nearly 2020!!!

Excuses. Lots of excuses. I play with a controller and I am able to beat Masters and there is still room for more. And I am not even close to the top leaderboard guys. Don't waste your time with excuses and complaining, focus on getting better. If you have trouble getting better, focus on a specific car.

Yeah, ffb is much, much better than DR1. People really need to stop idealizing that game.
