9 pointsTo add I'm pretty sure I saw an interview where the family approved of it as a tribute to him and aslong as the family find it fitting it doesn't matter what the rest of us think
-
4 pointsThey put Hubert in 2020 game because they want to keep memory of him and make him tribute and I think make "man on the right place" thing and it's good in my view

3 pointsTalking about the DS3, that needs to be back, but also the Marklund (very similar to KMS spec) Polo also back. All those Polo who were competing are like that Polo from DR1 and D4 😄 Its quite interesting: - Hedströms Polo is the Marklund Polo (they took over the concept from Marklund Motorsport) - Kristofferson's Polo is their own build Polo, but have a lot of similarities with the Marklund one. - Bryntesson's Polo is a Marklund Polo, but it seems it now has the front fenders and front bumper from the KMS Polo. Could be they could buy some new/used spares from KMS.

3 pointsDear god guys. Learn to drive ON the track. Keep 2 wheels inside or on the white track line and there's no issue. The setting is called STRICT not REALISTIC. Strict is as per the rules which is you should not be going off track. Track is defined by the white lines. Hence strict will warn you if you go 4 wheels outside the white lines. You can drive a good lap while within the track limits you know 😉 EDIT: And if you refer to real life GPs again, please note that the stewards do NOT follow the rules on track limits and actually make their own rules each race week. How do you expect Codies to be able to program something to keep up with that? To do it as STRICT, it's as per the rules 😜

2 pointsI've decided to take a leap of faith and have a go at driving with manual gearbox. I've gone a bit retro and nostalgic and decided to do this on the 2013 version of the game rather than 2019 version that I have. Had a couple of hours trying manual out and it went rather better than I expected. Difficult first half hour but got better. Usual thing.....for every average lap there were about 5 disastrous laps. In the end I was going round Silverstone rather nicely....in fact I found the experience rather enjoyable. With manual gearing corners seem to be more controllable......car seems glued to the track with less understeer. Yes.......I think that I'm going to play on with manual gears. More enjoyable, realistic and (hopefully in time) better lap times.

2 pointsThe reviews are pouring in and so far it looks like we have a good game on our hands https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/f1-2020
-
2 pointsJust wondering when the rest of the game will be available to download as right now its only letting me download 25.8GB through steam
-
2 pointsSure, I think that's fair. So, to elaborate a little, we haven't sacrificed graphics quality because of Split-screen. We haven't sacrificed anything on the graphics front at all, and should perform to at least the same standard. Examples here when the game has been released @SAL_LippiArsenal would be useful. Split-screen runs at 30FPS to accommodate for 2 players, but that is the only area of the game to do so. All other areas of the game are unaffected.

2 pointsAnother livery for Czech collection, this time one off livery from TipCars Pražský Rallyprint 2019 driven by Jan Černý https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/Škoda-fabia-r5-jan-Černý-tipcars-pražský-rallysprint-2019.34199/

2 pointsEveryone has his bias for sure but Eurogamer is to me a credible source for games. We have to wait still for the sim purists to post their reviews
-
2 pointsNot ture. Take for example Redbull Ring, before turn 5(6 for f1) there is a white line, and all f1 drivers are going "wide" there to open turn 5. In 2019 if you stay with 2 wheels ON the track but drive a bit to far it will stil invalidate the lap time. Thats the issue. So in essence, it's inconsistent. There are places where rule "2 wheels on track" works, and places where it doesn't.
-
2 pointsThat's really not the problem. There's plenty of lobbies in F1 2019 still, but it's just so hard to either find or get into them. There's too big of a delay in the display of race progress. I refresh the list and within seconds open a lobby that says "in lobby", only to find out the race has already progressed 3 laps. Some glitched out lobbies can stay in the list for hours on end and so on.
-
2 pointsYes, it should be strict. But the limit they use in F1 2019 on strict is not improving the racing. In real life the real limit on some corners are on the outer side of the exit curbs. So you are allowed to have all 4 wheels over the white line, as long as you have at least one tyre on the exit curb. On F1 2019 every limit is on the white line. Cross the white line, you'll receive a warning. Those curbs are so wide for a reason: they should be used! The modern cars are so much faster than the cars were these tracks were designed for. If you must stay within the white lines, you can't get the maximum potential out of the car. Not even talking about all the penalty's and warnings I've received for 'cutting' the inside after a push from behind or trying to avoid another car. You lose more than 2 seconds because your exit is comprimised, but you still get a penalty for cutting. It makes online racing an awful experience overall.

1 pointI made an Excel spreadsheet to organize my setups, track my performance, and give me an insight on the AI levels. There are two worksheets in it. The first is for the setups and performance. There's a table for each GP and it is sectioned with the car setup and a few items I find interesting in the Practice Programs and the Qualifying rounds. Alongside the car setups you have slots to fill with setups you find online and there are two columns that will give you (1) the median average for a given slider and (2) the mode average for it – i.e. which value is the most common one, if there is one. This way if you gather a bunch of setups but some of them are outliers, it is easier to identify which ones are on the "right" ballpark. Under the setups you'll be mostly filling in with fuel usage and time laps for the different practice programs and the qualifying. There are rows to compare those laps with (1) your teammate, (2) the 1st CPU in the grid and (3) the 6th CPU in the grid. It goes without saying but you can change those parameters to your heart's desire. The second worksheet is to get a hold on the AI levels. Since your teammate is your first rival, I usually try to set the AI at a level where I'm in unceasing fight with him, either having an edge or infrequently topping him depending if I am the team’s 1st or 2nd driver. From what I heard, you should dial it up or down 1-2 notches for each 0.1 second difference, but this is my first racing game in more than a decade, it is hard as hell to get it right because I’m often improving during that session. To thwart that, instead of simply filling the worksheet with the race AI level, I do a simple average of the whole GP accordingly to the data on the main worksheet. In this second worksheet you will just fill in the AI level, the qualy laps for you, your teammate and the 1st and 6th CPU, and their respective best laps on the race. There are formulas in the delta rows and formatting rules in the cells so it should automatically calculate the delta and highlight the whole thing dependent on it being a positive or negative delta. I did a chart with the qualy deltas just to ease the visualization part of it too, but it came out dreadful. I am using a custom number format for the lap times on the whole workbook. It is [mm]:ss,000 or ss,000 depending on the context. Sorry about the comma, that’s the decimal separator I primarily use on my country and I wasn’t feeling like fiddling with Excel’s underbelly just to adapt it for the rest of the world. The file is partially filled up and it is a mishmashly hodgepodge jumble of numbers. This is not the original file and I wasn’t meticulous on duplicating everything, but at least you’ll hit the ground running already. I'm more of a Word guy, though, and it really shows. The workbook is as ugly as they come. But my intentions were good! Those with a keen eye may notice I used a few official hex codes when color coding some elements... 1 pointThe Mercedes livery gets across an important message, congrats on them doing that. I think the overall appearance of the car though could be enhanced in the onboard tv cam as it looks a bit boring compared to the rest of the car so I quickly added some colour to it on a phone app and think it looks better. Would be cool if Mercedes made it like this

1 pointHello @BarryBL Can we get a positions and lap HUD for replays in F1 2020? It wouldn‘t be too hard to implement would it? Right now it is so hard to keep track of which lap the replay currently is and which drivers are in what positions and who already has retired. Imagine how cool this game would be if it had the spectator‘s HUD running in replays. Full replays would finally make sense and be worth watching. Please make it happen 🙂

1 pointHi. First time post. Sorry if this is already posted but can't find it. Has it been confirmed that Dirt5 has/has not rally? I know this is more arcade and not simulation but have they completely scrapped Rally from the DiRT (non Rally) series? Thanks!
-
1 pointHis family granted permission for him to be included and I for one am grateful that he has been included. It’s a great tribute to a driver taken too soon.
-
1 pointIf they were to loosen up the track limit restrictions, I think they should also significantly reduce grip on the kerbs. I never liked how on many on tracks the heavy braking after a straight is done on top of the outside kerb. You would never see that IRL.

1 pointRegarding ACC, I watched the Digital Foundry video over the weekend. It seems that issue isn't necessarily the 30fps, but the fact that it's not locked (sits between 30 and 40) and therefore appears juddery, that's what's making it appear rough. You compare that to any Forza Horizon game and they are rock-solid 30fps (on base Xbox One) with decent motion blur, and they feel as smooth as 60.

1 pointHi! This issue has been present in almost every F1 game from Codemasters. I don't understand why we cannot have the option to make the names in the position table convert to abbreviations (Why do we need to write our own abbreviations when starting a career then?). It is quite uncomfortable to see how much space it takes just to show nothing at all. This year we are going to get, finally, a real time gap between the drivers in front and behind (plus adding two more driver slots, although we should have the option to have all the 20 driver's list). Please, consider to quit this empty space to make the HUD a more clean, useful and beautiful tool for the player. At least bring the option to customize it. You have said before that the reason we didn't have the complete driver's list was because of the lack of space. Yet, you give us an enormous HUD which is not even used for anything. Right now, we could have the BEST HUD ever, if we just had the chance to fix it. Sorry if my words sound harsh. That is not my intention. I like everything we have seen of the game, but there are still some details (such as this one) that are so simple and easy to notice, and could be great improvements if done well. Thanks.

1 pointAh but do you then think they have an advantage? I mean if I were a ghost car, I could race like I was in time trial with no possibility of having to race another car so no need being off the racing line. Also would mean their safety rating would never change or would improve as they wouldn't be in any crashes. No go from me.
