6 pointsTo manage expectations here (fortunately users have already done this), we have the winter testing data and 1 race to work off at the moment in terms of an update. I'd also question the race, as 9 cars didn't finish (which is very odd for modern F1) so we wouldn't have known their true respective ranking to others. Making the performance order as realistic as possible is a aim of ours, but given world circumstances, it may take some time to establish a 'pecking order' with some limited knowledge. This is because usually, by the point of game release, there is a understood hierarchy of teams and drivers as we've had a number of races and 1000's of laps completed. Not the case this year.

5 pointsNow that many of us have already had the chance to try out F1 2020 for the first time, I thought it'd be great to get the real life racer, simracer and most importantly the handling designer of F1 games, @David Greco CM, to answer some of your questions that you might've come up with! There won't be any proper rules for the Q&A. Try to keep on-topic and Greco will answer as many questions as he can. Also, all questions are valid, no matter if you're a complete newbie or a seasoned veteran! If you're encountering an issue, it's quite likely that someone else has also encountered that issue at some point in time. I'll be compiling all the answers to a message that can always be seen at the top of this thread above all comments, no matter what page you're on 🙂

5 pointsExactly @AllenB2609, we couldn't. The issue is, when the game got into that phase, we had limited pre-season data to use rather than the scheduled 8 race weekends (so practice, quali and full races) we would've had. Take Austria for the easiest example. All numbers are very rough. 71 laps in race, A race programme for each driver - Assume another 71 laps in Practice, Other practice programs - 50 laps, 5 laps in Quali, Per Driver = 197 laps. Round that to 200. Per driver. 4000 laps per race weekend. So 3000-4000 laps per weekend x 8 races we would've had data for - Between 24,000 and 32,000 laps of data we didn't have this year to judge performance off before release. So we had to base it on the next best logical thing. Looks like it wasn't totally accurate, but to be expected. It is a very exceptional circumstance to have the game release the same time the season starts, because season starting is a great unknown to everyone. Remember, we have builds the game far before the planned Austria GP.

5 pointsThe aero has been rebalanced, so, you don't need to go so extreme with front wing, they could be much closer front and rear. Say you had a 1 - 6 wing in 2019, you could go 3 - 4 in 2020. Having more downforce, compared to a 2019 setup, you might want to be a bit stiffer or more ride height otherwise the diffuser will stall and the car will lose a lot of downforce.

5 pointsJust like Lando told me about a year ago, full gas, and then release the throttle a bit to make it gain grip. Very tricky car to get a good start

4 pointsHi David, while I love pretty much every aspect of the new handling, possibly the one thing that still bugs me is the "E-sport lines" under braking, with two wheels over the kerbs on the green stuff/runoff. Spain sector 1 is a good example where you brake almost fully outside the track for a much wider line into turn 1 and turn 3. I guess this is more a surface grip thing than handling model, but are there any ways to still improve that? Maybe reduce the grip of the astro/the stuff next to the kerb?

3 points1. During a race, when I reached the penultimate lap, Jeff will inform me that I haven't used all tire compounds even though I already pitted for a medium from a set of soft tires. Even when I pitted, it still disqualified me. Seems like the game doesn't recognize that I have used all mandatory tire compound and just decided that I haven't, therefore disqualifying me from the race. However, it seems this bug is extremely inconsistent. I've tried some solutions including changing the pit strategy at the start of the race. It helped in Australia and Bahrain, but when I got to Vietnam the bug reappeared even after changing the strategy. 2. I am using version 1.03 3. This happened on MyTeam Career mode. Haven't tested it in Driver Career though. 4. To replicate, simply just play MyTeam Career mode and play any race with the default pit strategy. However, some people said that it has something to do with flashbacks, so try using flashback at least once or twice during the race. I, myself, doesn't have the problem during the Bahrain GP even though I used flashback once. 5. Like I said, changing the pit strategy seems to temporarily solve the issue. It's just tedious because you have to play an entire race just to confirm whether it works or not. It works in Australia and Bahrain but doesn't work in Vietnam. 6. I am using an X-input gamepad (Gamesir T3w) 7. I don't have a screenshot or a video unfortunately, but many people have reported it in reddit and Steam discussions.

3 pointsWhat I'm really missing is those custom visors. They look awesome in single player with the differently colored reflective tints, would be great to have those in the customisation.
-
3 pointsI consider this an absolute must, really. If you have your colors and want to apply them to your car ad driver, you have to replicate the original colors like 4 times (car, helmet, gloves and suit) and everytime it looks a bit different. Please add HEX codes to the colors or, even better, let us save some color presets.

3 pointsDry's: 85 to 100. Inters: 70 - 85. Wets: 60 - 75. Let's say that a couple of degrees outside this range is still ok, although, not optimal, but more, it starts to exponentially lose grip. Low tyre pressure will help traction, help tyre temps, but will have more wear. High tyre pressure will have less traction, but more responsive and better grip at high speed, better tyre wear, but higher temps.

3 pointsSo, I talked about grip from different asphalts. We have 4 asphalts in F1 2020, New Racing track or resurfaced, old racing track (old asphalt), semi permanent racing track and street circuit. This list goes from highest grip to lowest grip. The rubbering in, has always been there, so, no, Jeff never lied 😄 About the track after rain, I need to dig out more, I can't remember right now, I'll come back with an answer.

2 points@BarryBL Any news regarding the Neutral button and the ability to prevent going into Neutral from 1st gear by accident, that we discussed during the Beta, as it was being looked into by the team

2 pointsI hope this thread gets a little bit of attention... Topic: F1 2019 don't let us invite friends to ranked lobbies anymore. Why they probably done that: To ensure, friends don't boost each other to ranks they don't deserve. To ensure, friends with D rank don't get invited to S or A lobbies. This leads to: Many players stopped playing lobbies at all. The playerbase is obviously smaller than in F1 2018. S-Lobbies are rare. To find lobbies at all, they put S-players in C/D-Lobbies nethertheless. Most time you will find no ranked lobby at all 25% lobbies are dead. plus: ranked is not a bit fairer than in F1 2018 My personal experience: I am a community leader from germany. We are 750 gamers and 70 active F1 players (in our 3 leagues) at the moment. Our community and the friends from other german communities loved F1 2018 and loved playing ranked together. We don't have a single unfair player with us. Almost everyday a few of us played ranked together and we enjoyed that a lot. It is a good distraction from league races. ...Why would you play alone when you are in teamspeak with other people. Now we as a whole community stopped playing lobbies... From what I read hear and on reddit, ranked is not a bit fairer than in F1 2018. Also boosting was never a problem in F1 2018. Not like in other games like rocket league (where you still can play ranked with friends and it works great). "Just play unranked" Most players just play to compare themselves with others in competitive manner. And almost every other game let people do that with their friends. PC-Gamers trend to play games in teams und often don't care about unranked modes at all. Also unfair players are allowed to crash you in every second corner without any punishment. You can't avoid this people in unranked. We want to play together with other people online the drive as fair as we do. Suggestion There will still be people out there that will disagree with this thread. I hope all players that usually play ranked alone won't dislike this thread straightforward. 1) There is a simple solution: Bring friend-invites back, but if the safety rank of the invited player don't fits the regulations of the lobby put him in visitor state. Of course: In a C-Lobby you should still be allowed to invite S-ranked friends as they should be aware of possible D-ranked players in this lobby. @Faya Kind regards, iosis

2 pointsIn the game, it’s not possible to recreate the real onboard cams, because it’s the negative angle is to less to make it possible and you should have the opportunity to set the vertical higher, to be safe, that’s the right camera, even Toms Cam is not so high, but I had my own experience. The easiest example is the Ray-Ban Logo from the Ferrari onboard, in real life with a higher position an more negative angle, you can see the whole lettering, Ingame it’s not possible because you can’t set the the huge negative angle and the vertical higher. That was one thing I noticed sind F1 2017 with the too positive angle and the vertical, which isn’t high like in real life, and I don’t think it’s a huge problem, because it’s just add more negative angle and a higher cam position. I hope you work on it. EDIT: I forgot to mention that you can see the mirror stands to the tyre, to clarify it. PS: Please remove the Weichai, because it’s not Ferrari’s sponsor anymore.

2 pointsIf you were in the beta do you get upgrades to the deluxe edition?
-
2 pointsYeah people need to calm down, the game just released. Not only that the way a season goes the grid order could change in the next 3 weeks and you'll have all the same people coming here and complaining again Maybe they should have add a tab in the settings menu where you could manually change the rating of each team etc, save Codemasters spending all their time on it as people always find a way to argue over team performance

2 points@BarryBL Hi Barry, can you tell us what CM thinks about this topic? And what do you think about this suggestion: 1) There is a simple solution: Bring friend-invites back, but if the safety rank of the invited player don't fits the regulations of the lobby put him in visitor state. Of course: In a C-Lobby you should still be allowed to invite S-ranked friends as they should be aware of possible D-ranked players in this lobby. Best regards

2 pointsIs quite harder to remove it on the Formula 2, due to the nature of the engine. The 2020 F2 car, because of the new tyres, I had more time available to spend on those, so, it will have engine braking more in line with the F1 cars.

2 pointsI don't want to make any publicity to any youtuber, because they don't need, but, Alex is a great guy and I had a chat with him about a bit more indepth handling changes, so, here is the video he made about it: https://youtu.be/ELh5sVhSoSA?t=587

2 pointsCan I also rember you that the winter tests where disastrous for Ferrari. Looking at the winter tests the outcome for engines where - Mercedes - Honda - Ferrari - Renault Not Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault and Honda. I don't know what happened but I hope Codemasters will change the ranking, because now it's just not right.

2 pointsWith Online championship not back in the game for 2020 we still can't manually set weather for league sessions and the in game time of day for sessions in league mode. Also we still cannot change the difficulty of the AI in between sessions like online championship mode used to. There was a 15 page thread with over 350 posts about this issue for over the past year. Can we have these missing settings @BarryBL

2 pointsLet’s wait for Hungary, where pace in slow speed corners matters most, to complete a picture. ✊ Austria has showed that Ferrari engines are miles away from Mercedes. Williams was the slowest car on track, at least they have a company at the bottom now. 😬
