Being a little older than some here it does make me smile seeing these comments. Years ago before patches were a thing, games would be released and if it had bugs you were stuffed. These days games companies can rectify these issues. These games are complex to make and perhaps you should be grateful you live in an age that improvements can be made so that your money isn't wasted. Equally, you've been around long enough to know that after initial release of these F1 titles a number of bugs crop up so rather than complain about that just wait a month or two and purchase the game when it's in a state suitable to you.

If you consider that Lewis Hamilton only has one chance to get a good time in, you might get a better idea as to why the game is faster. We can go round and round in Time Trial, finding every last bit of a second on a track without the car, the track or the tyre conditions changing even the slightest. Real drivers have an out lap, one chance for a fast lap, an in lap and are back in the garage. Ofcourse they stay very focussed and are more than capable of getting the most out of the car, but achieving a perfect lap in a single attempt is very hard. Even if you go out for multiple runs.

Pay £60 to become a Codemasters tester. You can get the game within a month of release and find all the bugs for them. Enjoy filling out massive bug reports for grumpy moderators, revel in wasting days in your spoiled career modes that you will have to restart once the game is mended. Remember guys if you dont post a full video of the bug it wont get investigated 👍 The special offer you can pay an extra £20 for a couple of lazy Schumacher mods and the chance to play an even more broken game that bit earlier!

Suggestion In previous F1 games (I think before Codemasters), there was always an option to change the grid order for a race in a Grand Prix-style mode. The most recent example i can think of was F1 2006 (see below). You could move drivers to any starting position for the race, which was great because you could arrange the drivers into the same order as a real-life race and reenact it. Rationale I've always thought this would be a great option to reintroduce to the series, particularly as we have had so many good races recently. How cool would it be to set the grid up like it was in Germany 2019 or put 2/3 front-running cars out of position and in the pack and race through with them? At the moment, you can skip qualifying to place yourself at the back, but it would be awesome to move everyone around and fully customise this! How would it work? If you chose this mode, the lap times could be made up as no qualifying would have took place and just simulated to look authentic. Or the time could simply read --/---/--- which i don't think would bother anyone either. Of course, this would work best in Grand Prix Mode, but it could also work in split-screen or multiplayer modes with friends! Would be great to get some of your thoughts on this!

I find it very disappointing that I can only have the new Dutch commentary when I have the whole game on Dutch. Personally I don't like to have games in Dutch simply because the translations are quite off most of the time and I just prefer English, but I do want to have the voice of the Dutch commentators, which now simply is not possible. I would really appreciate it if Codemasters gave us those options, I think that is not too hard to implement.

    1. Thrustmaster TX Wheel (Ferrari F1 Add on) Brake = look back Wheel left = look left Wheel right = look right 2. Xbox 3. 1.05 (Just installed the update) 4. Online racing , Grand Prix, Time Trial, etc. All of them 5. What are your replication numbers? Happening all the time 6. What troubleshooting have you attempted? Restarted wheel 5 times, restarted the game 3 times, tried every preset in the controls, tried unbinding ‘look behind and left/right’, tried my old wheel, tried 3 different pedal sets This needs fixing right now, not in next patch! The game is unplayable.

[Xbox] Camera control is linked to the movement of the steering wheel After installing patch 1.05, my steering wheel is attached to the camera. Whenever I turn the steering wheel sideways, the driver's view changes to the respective side. And the brake pedal always drives the camera backwards. I tried to modify the commands, without success. My steering wheel is the Thrustmaster Tx with the T3PA pedals.

Could it be that games in the 90's were a little less complex than those of today?
  9. 3 points
I disagree with that statement. It’s much easier to spot the apex

This is actually problem with nearly every game developer right now. Today everybody has internet connection so it is much easier to make half complete game and then release patches afterwards. Long time ago games didn't had even 1/10 of bugs as today games, I really don't know what is problem just to push release date further. Example Cyberpunk 2077 has been postponed already two times because they felt game isn't finished and they want to release game without problems, big props to CDPR. Remember, "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad".

Also, in the game you don't have any worries about throwing your car into the barriers and potentially seriously hurting yourself. You also get unlimited number of chances when on time trial with zero tyre and engine wear and tyres in the optimal range at all times.... ...which brings setups in. Setups are so aggressive on time trial and would never be used in race as they would shred the tyres very quickly. Real F1 teams have parc ferme to contend with so the setup used is the race setup, not just for a single fast lap time.

Yes. We haven't revealed anything yet 😉

I didn't know that we had to return the game once it has been tested... Is that true? And let's consider the alternative... If the game was set to be released in September, how many people would choose to pay for the game earlier and get it in July? I'd imagine quite a few people... and most of the people here.

Dunno, mate. There are bugs, that’s true and undeniable. Bugs ranging from zero disruptiveness from quasi-game breaking ones. But they’re not ubiquitous and your mileage may vary. All the bugs I encountered were reported, so you can see for yourself if you’re so inclined. And the reason for my reporting was that I feel like Codemasters listen to and work on the feedback they receive. I don’t feel like a beta tester at all. The hours I log on the game gave been all fun, the bug reporting being a minute and side thing. But again, your mileage may vary and maybe I’m on the minority that didn’t encounter any serious bugs? I don’t have the data on that. Neither do you on the ratio of players that are getting their fun ruined by bugs, so there’s that too. Speak for yourself, as I do for my part only.

I did a test not that long ago using 25% percent race in Grand Prix mode in Austria. One race adding enough additional fuel to be able to race entirely in Rich mode the entire race. A second balancing Rich and medium solely keeping engine temps under control. The balanced approach was quicker across the entire race by around 8 seconds.

Can we please implement an option to enforce cockpit view?

In fairness to codies didnt f1 2019 have 22 patches! So yes buggy but 22 pathes is pretty decent support.

I can understand folk feel aggrieved. Once I was the same. I only buy the F1 games now after support has ceased and second hand. Havn't bothered with the 19 game at all, am watching and waiting to see if the 20 game will be any better. Thanks to you all for testing and bug reporting, but even after all the fixing is done I still think the games are a mess.

totally agree, copy and paste from the past 3 years of F1 games

Now you get out of here! What is this, a reasonable and test-to-see-it-through approach to things instead of basing your opinions on hearsay and unfounded views of how things work?! What feeds the MGU-H is not the heat of the PU, but the movement created by the exhaust gases passing through the turbocharger. Think of a literal wind turbine. So in truth, what feeds the MGU-H is the workload of the engine. The speed at which the turbocharger turbine spins is dependent on the rate at which the exhaust gases escapes the ICE. Thusly when you’re on lower ICE work rates, as in completely or partially lifting off the throttle, the turbo’s work rate will also be reduced. Once you get back to full throttle again, there will be a lag, a delay between the wide-open throttle, the increase in gases being exhausted and the turbine picking up speed again (turbo lag). There comes in the MGU-H, as it powers up the turbocharger to propel more air into the ICE in sync with your getting back to throttle, eliminating the lag. So picture yourself [1] being flat out on a straight, [2] lifting off completely & braking, [3] turning and [4] getting back on the throttle. On [1] your MGU-H is being charged by the passing of the exhaust gases through the turbocharger. On [2] your ICE workload drops significantly and the MGU-K starts feeding on the braking. On [3] nothing happens except for your praying for the gods and the cosmos to hit that apex cleanly. On [4] is where the magic happens. As soon as you apply throttle again, the MGU-K start powering up the ICE. But the ICE needs more air to deliver max power to the crankshaft, i.e. it needs the turbocharger to work its magic. Normally the turbocharger would pick up their workload in tandem with the exhaust gases from the ICE increasing, but this lag is eliminated as the MGU-H was fired instantly with your throttle and started powering up the turbo to propel more air into the ICE. You go from zero to maximum power output virtually in an instant, no turbolag! That’s witchery. Edit: just to be a tiny bit more accurate, what feeds the MGU-H is the heat from the exhaust gases passing through the turbocharger. The temperature of said gases are the same whether your engine is cool or hot, as they're the product of the internal combustion done inside the engine. The more work being done by the ICE though, more (volume) exhaust gases go through the turbocharger, so more energy is generated by the MGU-H.

It's not but that's a good suggestion. Should have the ability to do back to back programmes. For example, I use the same tyre to do the tyre management programme followed by the Fuel management. This means out lap, tyre management, in lap, out lap, fuel management, in lap. Having the ability to do back to back programmes would save 2 laps of tyre wear.

Use Preset 4 (HS) as your default. Take this chart from the first page and slap Preset 4 on all tracks except those that have: Downforce 1: use Preset 5 Downforce 4: use Preset 2 Downforce 5: use Preset 1 When the time comes and you decide to learn the basics, there are very good video guides on youtube we can point out and naturally this community as well.
