Hi guys, I'm going to close this thread as it has drifted off-topic slightly but add a statement from myself, mostly as a CM member of staff, but also as a fan of F1 (which is what I am first) Of course, taking the 2020 cars for a scream around Imola (should that actually get confirmed) would be awesome. I can understand the desire of fans to want new (well old for fans my age - 6 year old Barry on Grand Prix 3 would love a Imola re-introduction) tracks in the game, and they would clearly add value to our title. However, as developer and publisher of F1® 2020, the official videogame of FIA Formula One World Championship™, Codemasters has accurately recreated the original 2020 season, which was scheduled to start on 15 March. Due to time needed to re-create the circuits in-game, it is not possible to include any of the new circuits added to the revised 2020 season. I totally understand the desire to want to see a revised calendar with new tracks in 2020, but, unfortunately due to a plethora of reasons, it's simply unfeasible to achieve.

Yo, Rango! The only part you feel like you're struggling with is keeping the revs in the optimal range pre-launch? It is one of those things we are almost more superstitious than knowledgeable about sometimes, but I think that those first moments after the lights go out, the early acceleration phase, are more important than keeping engine running at the right speed (RPMs). Basically you have launch stage, early acceleration and flat-out stage. I may be wrong here (again, and it could prove to be a tendency) but I think the optimal rev range is a tad higher, 11150-11800. Below 11 and hitting 12 are sub optimal if the constant hearsay I get is to be believed, but I've seen people getting away with a good start even while hitting the 12k mark. How you manage to get there is probably a matter of personal preference. I think that smoothly moving the throttle input to make it oscillate on that 11k range could be easier than trying to hold it still. By holding still you risk over revving. Bear in mind though that even this oscillating thing will be a hair width of a difference on the trigger pedal. You should also consider that you should keep your engine running in that optimal range during the early acceleration stage, when you're making your way through gears 1-3 and the car is making those first 5-10 meters. So letting it over or under rev at the last light and trying to catch it on the sweet spot when it is go-time is an approach I don't favor much. Then again, I think the pre-launch is a little over hyped. Not overstaying your welcome on 1st and 2nd gear and short shifting your way up to gears 3-4 is more important than fine tuning the throttle on red lights. By a mile, I'd say. I've had instances where I released the clutch an instant too late, to the point where I could actually see the car beside me shifting forwards before realizing my mistake, but still managed to get 2 positions just by hitting the nail after the release. Forget 1st gear. There is no such a thing. You should release the clutch without increasing throttle (or even letting it go a tiny bit if you feel like you overshot the 12k mark), upshift to 2nd quasi-instantly and then short shift to 3rd and sometimes even 4th while applying more throttle. I'm sure you must have even better feedback than I do on a controller, so use that to know how to keep the car on the edge of wheelspin. If you exaggerate on the throttle you'll be spinning in place and smoking your rear tyres, that's the cue. You may be able to increase the throttle meanwhile but you won't have it flat out until 3rd or 4th for you will spin otherwise. The same goes with ERS. I haven't tested it yet but I think it is a straight up waste to activate Overtake mode before you can plant your foot on the throttle. If your ICE isn't outputting maximum power already for having the throttle not fully open yet, what use could you possibly have for those extra 160bhp? Early acceleration while dealing with wheelspin is not a matter of power, quite the contrary. It is mechanical: your wheels want to rotate more than the grip allows for. On those first gears your car is all about translating engine power into torque, not speed, so increasing engine power with ERS will do you nothing until you can flat out on gears 3 and beyond. Grip is key. And that what changed the most for you since you disabled the traction control assist. What TC does is precisely that: ultra cool micro sensors on the wheels magically measure the grip available for said wheel, get a reading from the throttle you're applying, make a insta math on the fly and just cut out the surplus throttle so that your wheel won't overbear the grip. The same goes for fuel mix. Keep it on standard from the race start until you can go flat out on the throttle. There are some that even advocate going lean until the flat-out phase but I'm not that vegan.

This topic now spreads over 5 pages and all we got so far is this: People want tracks added, of which some or not even confirmed. Codemasters says it can't be done and gives multiple reasons to why this is the case. Other people, who invested time in reading earlier statements and use their brains to figure out why Codemasters can't add more tracks are starting to explain this to the people who started this topic. (Side note: we already had multiple topics like this and everytime some of us have taken the time to explain why things are the way they are) Now, for some reason the OP and a few others start a discussion about semantics. Yes, a lot of things are technically possible, but we are not talking about theory, we are talking about realistic possibilities. If I say that I can't afford a $300.000 race car, your reply would be: well, if you sell your house, take all the money from your shared bank account (probably leading to a divorce with your husband/wife) than it would be possible. Well, yes, you are correct. If I would do all those things, it would be possible. But would you seriously expect me to do it? Is this even something that would cross your mind? No, because when I say that it is not possible for me to buy that car, I mean that it is not possible for me to buy that car without having to sacrifice everything I hold dear. Codemasters is a developer, and has to deal with a lot of stakeholders. Stakeholders that they can not **** off, or the game as we know it would not even exist. Codemasters need money, to pay for the staff, the office and everything they use. They need to save some money to be able to keep their head up when things go south. You can't ask them to throw everything out the window to make your wishes come true. Now, you may say that I am a Codemasters fanboy or apologist and I frankly do not even care. You have proven time and time again that you think you know more about the resources CM has available than anyone else. You acuse Lee Mather of lying and did not once showed any proof to back this up. This thread can grow to be hundreds of pages long, because all we do is talking in circles. Such a shame really, cause we could have spend this time talking about new features that are actually possible to add.

When a new strategy comes up it only shows the old one and the second one just says full race update or nothing I am playing on the latest version and on PlayStation I have had this since the game got released It happens on My team and just a casual single player race as far as I know and happens every time To recreate it just break wing on lap 3 or 4 and it should come up with new strategy option.

On the grid when selecting the strategy you can toggle "projected" and "personalized". Personalized uses the data from your practice programs and adjusts the stint lenght accordingly. If you got a lot less wear than expected it might even change it from a soft-hard to a soft-medium strategy for example.

With today's news that the Nurgburgring, Portimao, and Imola are set to be added to the 2020 F1 calendar, the total number of tracks in the 2020 Formula 1 championship that are currently not represented in the F1 2020 game rises to four (4). In order for the game to adequately represent the 2020 F1 season, developing and adding these tracks should be a top priority. Questions about the addition of new tracks to the game have been met with comments about the extensive time and manpower needed to make this a reality. This should not be an excuse. Codemasters hold the exclusive rights to the F1 franchise. To show that they are deserving of that honor, they need to dedicate the time, money, and manpower to get these tracks into the game. Edit 2: I realize that making definitive statements about the feasibility of adding new tracks isn't reasonable (or the un-feasibility, as some of you seem to think you have so much inside knowledge about). Feasibility isn't really the most important thing in this discussion and I should not have made that a part of the original post. The most important thing is letting it be known that having more tracks in the game is something I value a lot. Codemaster's response to this should not be to dismiss the idea and say that it simply cannot be done (and why some of you are so quick to furiously defend them on this, I do not understand. It's like a cult in here). The first thing they should be saying is, "We'll see what we can do". Maybe new circuits will not make it into F1 2020, but they should at least be exploring the possibility, scoping out the requirements. There is still the possibility that tracks outside the normal calendar (whether new or classic) could make it into future games. That will only happen if Codemasters see that there is sufficient desire for it. Instead of clamoring to say how impossible or unreasonable it is to have more tacks, why not say, yes, we would like more tracks. Full stop. Let them worry about the logistics.

All I can think of when I watch that part of the video is: why is there no pre season testing where the game does this for you? Ok I'm not a developer so I might not see this correctly but what I see in that video is all you need to make pre season testing ideally to start of your game like the practice programs. The process to calibrate your AI might sound easy to perform but I think it is rather complicated looking at the broad audience you want to cater with F1 games. It's not rocket science but I'm struggling already years with AI difficulty and now there is a video with a "simple" process that to my knowledge can even be easily be automated? Next year maybe?

I was worried about this exact thing when I started 2020 with all Assists off. What I found works great is to try your hardest to maintain the optimal RPM pre launch. You want to be at the higher end of it then near the lower. It's better to be slightly above optimal then below. Then what you should try is allow the car to launch. Add very little throttle and short shift to 2nd and again to 3rd. Make sure the car is straight and you feel the car gripping, then you're good to floor it... gradually of course. Smooth on the throttle. Do the above mentioned in a smooth one step motion. Launch, add small amount of throttle and short shift to 2nd then 3rd. That's what I found works for me.

It's the same as track limits really. People having a pop at strict being too strict for their league but they won't put it to regular for fear of people abusing it. You just can't trust peeps. At least you can see them abusing that whereas cockpit camera you can't so having an option here to force it would help in that situation. I don't think there's too many out there that would use it or join a session with it forced tbh but there is a crowd and if it's only an option, then I don't understand the anger towards it.

I hope this thread gets a little bit of attention... Topic: F1 2020 don't let us invite friends to ranked lobbies anymore. Why they probably done that: To ensure, friends don't boost each other to ranks they don't deserve. To ensure, friends with D rank don't get invited to S or A lobbies. This leads to: Many players stopped playing lobbies at all. The playerbase is obviously smaller than in F1 2018. S-Lobbies are rare. To find lobbies at all, they put S-players in C/D-Lobbies nethertheless. Most time you will find no ranked lobby at all 25% lobbies are dead. plus: ranked is not a bit fairer than in F1 2018 My personal experience: I am a community leader from germany. We are 750 gamers and 70 active F1 players (in our 3 leagues) at the moment. Our community and the friends from other german communities loved F1 2018 and loved playing ranked together. We don't have a single unfair player with us. Almost everyday a few of us played ranked together and we enjoyed that a lot. It is a good distraction from league races. ...Why would you play alone when you are in teamspeak with other people. Now we as a whole community stopped playing lobbies... From what I read hear and on reddit, ranked is not a bit fairer than in F1 2018. Also boosting was never a problem in F1 2018. Not like in other games like rocket league (where you still can play ranked with friends and it works great). "Just play unranked" Most players just play to compare themselves with others in competitive manner. And almost every other game let people do that with their friends. PC-Gamers trend to play games in teams und often don't care about unranked modes at all. Also unfair players are allowed to crash you in every second corner without any punishment. You can't avoid this people in unranked. We want to play together with other people online the drive as fair as we do. Suggestion There will still be people out there that will disagree with this thread. I hope all players that usually play ranked alone won't dislike this thread straightforward. 1) There is a simple solution: Bring friend-invites back, but if the safety rank of the invited player don't fits the regulations of the lobby put him in visitor state. Of course: In a C-Lobby you should still be allowed to invite S-ranked friends as they should be aware of possible D-ranked players in this lobby. Kind regards, iosis

Thank you 🙂 YouTube is a current hobby of mine but I like to bring in some of my professional experience when I make stuff there. On the plus-side, things I've learned from my own channel have shown that I can do official videos too; if you saw the Beginner's Guide on the official F1 games channel I made that (with a little help) 🙂

I noticed that when this happens and you release the throttle consequently you are less likely to receive a penalty, pretty much like IRL where if a driver gains a somewhat advantage by cutting a corner he has to slow down to neuter the advantage.

Agreed and that would be awesome to incorporate for a MyTeam season. Imagine every race weekend you take your own team to take on the 20 pros. Don't see it happening but man that would be cool. Would be good to have the data stored too so if you can't log on at the time of the sessions, you can play at a later time with the actual data.

@Nas00 yeah, to realistically simulate this contingent F1 2020 season. But would he be ok with the exclusion of all the cancelled events?

When the lights go out momentarily let off the accelerator and let the car bite before applying it again... and short shift the early gears a bit... seems to work for me. I don’t think the perfect revs are as vital but I’ve not done loads of work/testing. Maybe someone has a more conclusive answer.

You're right. You shouldn't. When they've already come out and said there wont be new tracks for several reasons you also shouldn't think you're entitled to it, or think that putting any sort of "pressure" on is going to make a difference. There simply isn't time to sort out all of the issues that have been brought up officially, and here by others. You don't need inside knowledge to know, you just need common sense of how today's business world works when it comes to licensing of intellectual property rights first, then creating it in the game second. Again, I'd love to have Mugello, Nurburgring etc. It's not going to be possible, I think we've all known that for months now. Nothing will change that. It sucks, but complaining isn't going to change it, neither is being sarcastic to others and whining about it as if you're entitled to something. The world got turned upside down with Covid, so did the F1 world as a result, you can't just expect, or demand Codies follow suit and delete tracks and add tracks. You want them added so it accurately reflects the 2020 season. So, should we be removing Austrailia? Bahrain? Baku? Montreal? etc. etc. since they're not on the calendar or part of the season now? I'm willing to be your answer is no, and you'd scream and whine about it if they removed them. So why do you think it should be ok to add more in with little to no time, data, resources or licensing matters within a short time frame? It sucks, yes, but it is what it is. The game was marketed as the 2020 season before Covid rolled around, that's what it is. Because the season changes last minute and adds new venues that they have no assets or licensing for doesn't mean it should be included. What you got, is what you paid for. Itd be nice to have, yes, but its just not realistically in the cards no matter what you think, or how much "pressure" you think needs to be applied.

Frankly, if Codemasters and FiA were able to implement something like this, just about every F1 racer-wannabe in the world would want to take part. It would need to be done on an individual basis, where the real telemetry is fed to your game and you "see" the other drivers during practice and quali. There is no way they could have everyone logging in to some server to do this. It would explode with the sheer number of people who would want to be "on track" with Hamilton or Ricciardo.

They got the licences for the current 22 tracks, they can get other licences. I'm not sure why you would equate having four completely new tracks in the game to a one night stand. We would all benefit from many nights of entertainment from this. If budget is an issue, make it a DLC. And what is stopping them from getting the licences for more tracks? They had to get 22 licences for the game as is, they can get more if they make it a priority. I expect them to hire more people and spend more money to make it happen. If they need to sell it as a DLC, that's fine. I would gladly pay for it. Refusing to do it outright is a ridiculous position for them to take.

Yeah I would agree it's a terrible decision. If you want free choice of what F1 team to start then make that possible with the straight to F1 option. Or if you still want a player who has chosen to do F2 but been rubbish to have free choice just have a toggle where you can enable or disable team offers based on F2 performance. The line about your F2 performance will affect how you are viewed in F1 seems completely incorrect. I played the F2 races believing it would at least affect the starting team offers, possibly even my contract and starting perks. I've also reported a bug where if you do the 3 race F2 taster you cannot enable safety car or formation lap in the following F1 career.
