The game actually seems to be more strict about the specific tyre than real life, if I read the rules correctly at least. The actual rules just say that the Q3 drivers have to return a set of tyres of the same specification. Which I assume means they have to return one set of soft tyres, which one doesn't matter.

Even though I do love a great arcade game, I do hope future Dirt Rally and the future Codemasters WRC games are sim focused. I am really excited to see what they can do with modern consoles and the WRC license. I would be quite sad to finally have the current, mighty, WRC cars in a Codemasters game about one of the most difficult motorsport series and it ends up being mostly arcade/simcade. That would be a bummer. All the more reason that we need games like Dirt 5 to do well, sell well and fill the Codemasters bank accounts so that we can continue getting great sim rally games.

GnrDreagon, as in real life, the 4th soft compound, provided by Pirelli to the teams, is available only for Q3 (it called unofficially “the extra of Pirelli”), and is not available for the race. So, if you not qualify for Q3, and want New soft compound for the race, you must avoid to use one of the available first 3, for qual, soft compounds. If you qualify to qual 3 you use the 4th soft of Pirelli, and again avoid to use in qual 1 & 2 one of the first 3 softs. Is the only way to have available soft compound as new (in race). I m talking for 100% race mode in game, because is the only mode I use, I don’t know about 50% or 25%.

On 1.16 the bug that causes wipers to suddenly stop working under rain on an undamaged car is still present, even if very rare. It'll happen only without auto wipers assist enabled, and if wipers stop in the middle of a stage due to this bug, after manually turning them on, they'll completely stop again later without warning after an interval like 15-20s. The only solution is to, right at the moment they stop, pause the game and enable the auto wipers assist. Then they'll work flawlessly (be always on) until the end of the stage. In case you disable the assist before the stage is finished, they'll start going full stop again. This is unrelated to a car electric failure where they can intermittently fail a swipe (expected behavior). For this bug, they'll keep turning off completely on an undamaged car, leaving you blind until you do something about it, and without any input faults on the mapped button for wipers. Today it started happening on the "Old Butterstone Muir" bridge section under Heavy Rain, while doing the Racedepartment club weekly event. It's disappointing that nothing was done to fix this bug after mine and other users repeated reports, and probably leave this infuriating bug for users running without assists when DR2 reaches EOL. +1 Including RX. The time and resources wasted on RX could be used to make an even better rally game. If they really want to include another discipline, I prefer Hillclimb over RX.

Well, the important part, the My Team Garage, is not affected. This is why I want to make sure you only choose the first option. This is why I hate online only. Too many things can go wrong, including server issues, disconnects and so on. Making My Team online only was the most dumb decision Codemasters made in history of all their games. My opinion. The benefits of it are laughable compared to the negative effects.

DIRT 5 is on Discord because it's hitting a different audience to the type that tends to sign up to forums, and allows for even more hand-on conversation between developers and players. Tech support will still be on the forum though since that needs a more formal process to function.

I hope not. Hillclimb is the same as rally in means you do it alone, while in RX you can race online together with others.
