Hi everyone, After a short break, we will be back with for Forum Championship on PC, starting again 20/11/2020 with a slightly revised format. Firstly, congratulations to @kisuke_fly for winning the drivers and to his team-mate @UP100 for fighting for the championship until the very end, both securing the constructors for Red Bull. This season, we will be running a total of 12 rounds, with 10 running on a normal season format, and 2 'joker' rounds with classic cars on classic tracks Round Schedule: USA, Brazil, Canada, JOKER, Mexico, France, Britain, Belgium, Italy, JOKER, Spain, Australia - I've based this roughly on the 1996 season, the first season watching F1 I can remember. The venues of the 2 'Joker' rounds will be decided by the Steam Chat for the Championship. Also, regular drivers for the Season will not be allowed to pair up, giving more teams a chance at the Constructors Championship. ---- NEXT ROUND ---- 18/12/2020 - MEXICAN GP ---- DRIVERS & TEAMS ---- Red Bull - @kisuke_fly and @SingaporeTrackLizard Ferrari - @UP100 Racing Point - @TeenierNeilb69 Alfa Romeo - @LSKone and @Reghinald Mercedes - @steviejay69 McLaren - @waficchaib and @NUKE05 Renault - @Maledicti0n Alpha Tauri - @CYRCA7 and @BarryBL Williams - Haas - For other players wanting to join in the fun, please let me know by adding name and preferred team, as a post, on this thread. There is also a poll on a preferred day and time for the race meetings, so please vote. ---- RACE RULES ---- Lobby open Fridays at 4PM BST. Qualifying will usually start at 4:10. Cars: Equal 2020 50% Race Short Qualifying Random Weather Setups Allowed Formation Lap On Reserves may join without signing up. ---- Steam Chat ---- Most communication in this league will be done through our Steam Chat group. It's not mandatory to join it, but it's home to all the important information such as when we are starting the quali and so on. It's throughly recommended 🙂 https://s.team/chat/OdGIqsXZ

And I want to share my experience and the stuff I found out. I actually raced up until midways throught the 8th season, at that point I was spending more time trying to figure out the AI more than racing and said "screw it" and simulated the 2nd half of the 8th season and all the 9th and 10th (more on that later). Team story: Started the first season running 50% races and 98 AI, finished the 1st season 9th in WCC, 4th the 2nd season, won my first WDC and WCC the 3rd season but my car was ranked 3rd in overall performance. Maxed the car and facilities in season 4 and from there on I won 5 other WDC straight and 7 more WCC (ignore the "laps driven" and "kilometers" since the game doesn't count simulated laps as "driven") Team mate was Lando, who won the last 2 WDC. Some funny stuff, Kimi retired at my 3rd season, Grosjean, Seb and Lewis never did, so they were racing at 45 and 43 and Seb still in Ferrari. Max retired in the 7th season, Stroll in the 6th (guess daddy ran out of cash), the last 2 seasons the top 4 guys battling where Lando (my Team), Leclerc (Ferrari and then McLaren), George (Ferrari) and Gasly (Mercedes). So lets start going step by step. Resources: As you can see on the screenshot I ended up with over 1B cash, and over 200k resource points. From season 6th and onwards every "rule change from next season" was useless other than an engine rule change. Both you and the AI have so many resources that can adapt every part and completely negate the change. I've had full rules change in the 4 departments, announced as late as Brazil GP, and not make a dent in any team performances for the next season. The only exception is the engine packs that are delivered by the developer, which seems to be random on how many packs will be reset and next season upgrades delivery times. This does affect the AI more than you since you can simply change to the new best engine in the off season and have a couple of races ahead while the other engines develop. Maybe for future games the solution could be resource points expiring over a while to avoid this, and having to re adapt facilities for the new rules to spend some cash, or other expenses like ordering extra gearboxes or engine parts actually costing money, or getting cash fines for penalties, etc. By the way the Porsche livery is from Racing_Legend_420 excellent mod: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/porsche-99x-hybrid-full-team-package.34503/ R&D: Aero: your team has the best aero possible. The 2nd best seems to be RB and McLaren. Chassis & Durability: all teams have the same level. Engine: Other than the staring point at a new game or after a rule change all engines are equal once they are maxed out (100 performance / 100 reliability), so it's just a choice of what sound you like more. Engine is the only random spec you get in R&D since you don't know when upgrades will come. You might have changed to a Ferrari PU after a rule chnage because they had a 90/95 rate, but only to find out their upgrades wont come until next season meanwhile maybe a 80/90 Honda engine has 4 upgrades dropping in 3 months and ends up as the best engine for that season. Ai: Oh boy here comes the pain... AI seems to be extremelly impacted by upgrades and drivers pace/racecraft upgrades. I played the first 4 seasons at 98 AI, that was enought to be 9th the 1st season and win titles the 3rd and 4th season. In season 5 Lando hits the 100/100 racecraft/pace with the same car, and I start to notice he's getting 0.500-0.600s better times in qualys, I can still beat him in race because the AI stupid things like doing 2 stops when 1 will do, or me starting on mediums and he on softs. By season 6th the qualy gap can go up to 1sec in some tracks, also as the other teams also start to max out other AI start to beat me in qualys, I had to lower the AI to 94 to qualy among the top 5. By season 7th I'm barely making it to Q3 with the best car, I end up cheesing my way to qualys like blocking other cars in Q2 or lowering the AI below 90 or even 85 in some tracks. Again, you can still beat most of them in race pace because of the stupid thing the AI does but by the time you are 2nd your teammate is 25secs ahead of you. I've started to notice some wierd things, like in Monza, having the best car, the best engine and the AI goes by you in a straight like if you were using a Monaco set up. By season 8th I had enough of that, when I secured the title I simed the rest of that season 9th and 10th befor Abu will I will race next. Btw you can also check on season 10 results that "your driver" AI when simulating is around average, it never beats your teammate and has a lot of ups and downs depending the track, race 1 to 8 I had the best engine after a rule change so my car was sllightly better, once other teams catched up, I started to drop in the simulation. So in the end. TL; DR: was it worth it?...yeah to see how the game behaves, but I don't think I'll do it again. Most likely for a new Career (when the performance patch hits maybe?) I'll paly until season 5 or 6th and start over.

I am playing a full F2 season with 100% race lenght and race results are usually screwed up by IA drivers making a pit stop in race2, which does not require any pit stop at all. The cause of this problem can be the fact that IA drivers are using 2-3 set of hard tires during free practice, so this means that they use in free practice the sets of Hard tires which are supposed to be used in race 1 and race 2: as a result of this, IA drivers don't have any new set of Hard tires to use in race 2, so they are forced to make a pit stop. I think that if you prevent IA drivers from using more than 1 set of tires in the free practice session the problem would be solved, because they would have fresh tires for race 2 and they wouldn't need any pit stop.

Something I'd like to see in F1 2021 is being able to place an icon or marker on the map of a circuit or when I driving round that I can see to indicate when I should brake rather than having the existing dynamic racing line and brake points which always takes me out of the realism . I can do the racing line no problems, but I can never remember the brake points and I think this would help me remember the brake points so I'd be able to turn off all the aids eventually rather than overly relying on the dynamic racing line.

Thanks @Buscetta. Consider changing NAT to type 1 if possible and moving from wireless to wired, as this will help with your general online gaming experience.

I always switch to lean in the pits. Manual ERS. assists in use for me are medium TC, ABS, auto gears, pit lane assist and release.

Thanks Nuv. Personally, I see this one as a difficult one to reproduce. However, I've added your save, the videos and the highlights to the testing team to check. Once I have a update, I'll post here. 👍

Thanks Barry. I'll try and do some tests and let you know roughly what kind of swing we are looking at, vs my team mate, trying to keep as much constant as possible, but it may take a few days. As an initial stab I'd estimate a swing of approximately 1.5+ seconds per lap in favour of the AI when the cars are fully developed. It is quite a noticeable jump in a game that is all about consistency of lap time (say you have found a great level and would regularly qualify within +/-0.2secs of Leclerc in season 1, by season 6 or 7 you are qualifying 1.0-1.5sec down, that's a big difference). The OP talked about dropping the AI level from 98 all the way down to 85 by season 7, and others seem to be noting a similar scale of change. You raise a good point on driver ratings, although someone like Leclerc can't actually get much better because his initial ratings are very high, so he is maxing the ratings out early on in the career. Ps. I don't want to complain about the game too much, overall I consider it to be one of the best, if not the best, single player games I have ever played. But it would be even better if this was looked at, as it does affect the enjoyment of otherwise awesome game modes (myteam and career).

You have two emails, the first one with the savegame just after the race ("profile" file etc.), the second one perhaps with the highlight itself, always taken from my PS4 savegames. Cheers, Nuv

Not again but only after a couple of more race weekends. I cannot say often, at least I didn't notice it often, but only recently I really check it. Let's say 2-3 times surely so far. I will continue to check! Thank you for reply Nuv

Well, RBR was pretty horrid with a controller. But back then, if you were blessed with an actual sim on a console, and that's all you had, you'd do what that guy in Edge of Tomorrow tells Tom Cruise when Cruise says 'I've never used this before', ie begging for help with his exo-suit "Well I've never been with two girls at once before, but if it happened, I'd make it work"

I had a short exchange with Chris from Codemasters on Discord yesterday and he confirmed that they are working on a fix that should be rolled out with the next XBox patch due in the next days. Let's hope...I can confirm that restarting the console (at least XSX) in mid-game seems to work. Although I do not feel that that's the safest thing one can do.... so let's hope for a quick fix... With vibration on the game is so much more immersive !

Nice. Looks like you just need to change logo colours.

Hey @BarryBL so weirdly enough uninstalling Dolby and switching to Stereo in the headset option made it better. I still got slight crackling when I was crawling around the track and got close to the crowd noises but certainly not like I had before. I did not have the massive crackling and audio distortion like I had before at the race starts. I still get the occasional crackle but it's far more tolerable and if I was focused on the racing and not listening for it it might go unnoticed. The frustrating thing is I didn't even think about closing out of the game when changing between all of the sound settings. Because I definitely tried every setting imaginable. So it looks like Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos are causing (or enhancing) the issue. I quit the game again and switched to Dolby Atmos and sure enough the intense crackling came back. Quit and switched back to Stereo and the crackling went away.

The Fiesta MKII R5 will have free repairs if you earn it through the game, AFAIK.

You could see it was coming from within Podium Pass itself. The Season challenges give the time left till the season ends. Although this does misleadingly suggest that the new season will start immediately. I'm not sure why it doesn't to be honest. The season 1 to 2 transition was problematic as an update broke aspects of Podium Pass just beforehand but this time there doesn't appear to have been any issue to cause a delay.

Hi there I have always loved F1 and have been playing F1 games for as long as I can remember, I just have a few things I would like to see in upcoming F1 games. Tyre usage, giving you the ability to be able to save tyres and use tyres at will, not be locked out of your tyre usage. Example, you can use an un-used set of tyres that you saved from practice and take them into qualifying or in the race in career, Grand Prix, leagues or online, etc The ability to pick or have a teammate in multiplayer cars in unranked, ranked lobbies or leagues The ability to choose how many drivers you want to have on the grid. Say you run a multiplayer car league, you can set more than 20 drivers on the grid. If you use F1 teams then you are limited to only 20 drivers More focus on the league system, having the ability to set stewards in the race, who can manually overrule or hand out penalties during the race. Potentially the in game stewards could be able to have access to a camera angle or on their screens which has every racers individual screen on it (Not sure how feasible or possible this may be but just an idea). Reserve driver selection needs to be improved particularly when you go to set reserve drivers. When you invite a player to take over as a reserve driver you can select from the list of drivers registered to the league on who they will be replacing for that race. Multiplayer car can be used in Grand Prix mode. In the editor menu you can select a team mate not currently with a current F1 team and then race your car. Performance can be edited in the editor menu. Also to be able to select what engine you would use. For Grand Prix mode this would make an extra team on the grid if you do not wish to just play my team Tyre heating and performance, making the drivers have to work to keep the tyres in the right window as they can be affected by track temperature, air temperature and whether much more than currently like in the real world of racing. Even locking up can flat spot the tyres, a bad enough lock up might force the driver to have to pit in for a new set. Esport racing is much more similar then any other esport series. There should be more emphasis and push that an esport racer or a everyday racer could jump into a proper formula car and have some knowledge of how the car and tyres work and feels. This giving esport drivers the chance to make it into the real world of racing. Potential to have a simulation specific game mode. This could be the addition of either a new game mode added with causal, standard and then simulation. This would also make the game a much bigger file size but would create a more realistic driving emersion. This plays into point number 6. Potential to run practice programs from career in unranked/league practice sessions. Giving the drivers the same information in practice programmes for unfranked / league races that they would have in career mode, which they can see in qualifying and race which will allow them to make a more informed decision. Safety car updates. Allow the back markers to pass the safety car and catch up to the field rather than being in the way. The safety car will need to wait for the drivers unlapping themselves to join the back of the field. Could have a specific time or lap number that back markers have to catch back up. Revised damage model. Being able to damage the floor, barge boards, or the rear wings when making contact rather than just only the front wing. This could be a sliding scale on how much you would allow the car to be able to be damaged such as regular, full or simulation damage More filters in unranked lobbies. Tracks, laps, practice, qualifying, damage etc Filter system in Car Setups. This will allow you to set many different variations in set ups at anytime and then easily be able to find them by filtering by tracks for you setup rather than scrolling down through many setups before you find the one you want. More in depth capabilities for 'Spectators' when viewing or running unranked lobbies or leagues. Adding extra depth into how the spectator can change between drivers, tyre usage, timing sectors etc. This could be done by potentially being able to map certain buttons on controllers or keyboards so that you can quick change rather than surfing through the driver board or the main index. Extra camera angles in spectator mode. Only having the two angles in which you can choose does limit how the spectator can view a particular battle or scene. Being able to make use of all the camera angles in single player replays will give the spectator/viewer a wider variety to choose from. Lastly, track limits. You should be able to use as much of the track as F1 drivers are allowed to use. Eg, Austria, the drivers are able use all of the curbs so long as they have a tyre on the curb. This will need to vary from track to track but using the same track limits as what the drivers were able to use from the past season will improve the drivers overall speed

I just want to add a note of caution here. MOST SOHO (small office, home office or domestic) routers can have odd problems with port forwarding. Wherever possible, you should use uPnP for your firewall as sometimes, setting specific port forwarding can disable the uPnP functionality. You then can have port forwarding issues for every device on the network as they are undefined. I advise contacting your ISP to ensure you are running the latest firmware for the router and also advise a hardware reset once upgraded, entering ONLY the settings required to connect to your ISP that they either specify or automatically send to your router (pre-configuration or distributed settings). Bear in mind that not all devices are current and if they are misbehaving you might want to look at 3rd party devices, but remember that support will be your responsibility. If you are with a common ISP, you can often pick up the same or newer variants of your ISPs preferred equipment if they are not willing to upgrade it for you. Sometimes direct substitution like for like can reveal faulty or underperforming equipment.

We have no exact date as of yet, however, we do have a fix in test at this moment in time. As long as all goes as expected in the testing, we should see it soon. Thanks all for the patience on this.

Today I was starting TT and perhaps I can confirm the quoted post by @MarkR2020 from an user point of view: while usually I can normally see the leaderboard at the first TT enter (and then no way to reaload it after I come back to the garage "later"), today I entered TT mode but had a call so I didn't click immediately to watch the leaderboard screen, 2-3 minutes later I did it but I faced the typical issue ("loading forever"), so probably it's really a matter of "time": it works at the very beginning, something is broken later. Probably it's where it should be investigated. Just to add it @BarryBL Have a nice day

Have you considered there maybe not enough bronze lvl1 on at the time you were to create a ranked race so you were put with bronze 2 and 3 to make up the numbers? They have to do this otherwise you may spend hours and hours in a queue then go to forums to complain about that too.
