  1. I was part of the beta test for 2020, and really enjoyed the experience. I’m hoping that CM will consider age demographics in their selections. I’m 71, and still love F1 sim racing! 🙂👍

  2. What I don't understand is, why don't all the players who want the game to be more sim-like just play games that are more sim-like, such as iRacing, rFactor and ACC? What's stopping you? Nobody is forcing you to play the F1 games, there are many other alternatives available to you. Personally, I like both sims and arcade-sims like F1. All types of racing games offer different kinds of challenges, but you won't see me on iRacing's forums demanding they make the game more arcadey to satisfy my preferred play style or whatever. The game is what the game is, if it's not realistic enough for y

  3. Age I think really doesn't matter as long as you participate in forums and bug reports you can be any age for the beta. Though obviously over 18 for the beta.

  4. I just can't believe for most of the replies made in this topic. It's just incredible how annoying people are of wanting a full simulation game. This game is not meant to be like that, is made so every type of person are able to play the game. If you don't like this type of games and want a simulation game go play ACC or RFactor. No one is forcing you to pay for this game and play it. Everyone is just jumping to conclusions without knowing nothing about the game, just because EA is now the publisher it does not mean that the game sucks now. Wait for the game to come out and than take your

  5. Thanks for all the information everyone. We are working on a initial fix for this. For the less experienced users here, this doesn't guarantee a fix and our current solution is its testing phase internally. We hope to have further updates soon.

  6. Just to clarify, I've had a update here (we're always watching 😛 ) We've asked for some changes to the wording on the PlayStation store to hopefully make this clearer. The wording now states that the product entitles you to download both the digital PS4 version and the digital PS5 version of the game and we are also working to update the wording on the in-game news item which is something that has been mentioned here. There is no difference between buying the Deluxe edition through the store by searching for it and buying it through the in-game news item (except for the price of cour

  8. Here is a quick list with all the current F1 engine sounds of the 2021 season, as heard on SkyF1, F1TV or onboard footages. This is just a friendly reminder and reference to how the engine sounds should be, if maximum accuracy and realism is the goal. Alpine Renault, there is a secondary Turbo when on full throttle and reaching maximum speed, as well as a pretty deep bass and low growling sound effect in low revs: Ferrari, there is a secondary Turbo sound when on full throttle and reaching maximum speed: Red Bull Honda, there is a

  9. Do any one know if practice starts will be a thing in f1 2021? You see it on formula 1 the practice starts all the time, kinda miss it in the games as i do manuel starts, maybe as a program where you have to hit some rpm atleast 1 time p1, p2 and p3. So 3 as a minimum or many in just one of them. Cheers for any replys that may come 🙂 Herrun

  10. And here I go, thinking with an age of 50+ I would be the grandpa around here... Kudos to you, enjoying simracing at that age. "People dont stop to play because they grow old, people grow old because they stop to play."

  12. I was just thinking it seems too early for an intentional pre-order download of F1 2021. There have been no new posts on this so I'd guess a mistake has been rectified.

  13. The 'why not play another game' argument is often put forward by people from various perspectives but doesn't really hold for me. The Codemasters F1 games are unique in what they offer, in terms of providing all F1 tracks, cars, drivers and the associated career mode experiences. I believe mods to PC games may get close in some regards but on consoles there is nothing even remotely comparable.

  14. Think of the new game as a new season. Teams change liveries every season (some more than others). I have a livery in F1 2020 right now that I really love, but if they don't port that livery over to 2021 my plan is to just use the same colour scheme with a new livery 🙂

Fantastic stories from our community on the power of games for Mental Health Awareness week. To take inspiration from those legendary scribes, Smash Mouth, the news keeps coming, and they don’t stop coming. The Codies Racing Line is your fortnightly update on all the big news and info around Codemasters games – and evidently, it’s needed this week more than ever. Let’s kick off with a look at the iconic additions just revealed for F1®

  16. Hi @Fionnlagh, Don't worry, common thing to happen. Players are passionate about the game, and that's encouraged. Just some fixes are a little difficult to get to than others I'm afraid. At the moment, we have a 100% replication rate internally, so the fix that is in test is based on that. I'd hold fire for now, and if you run into it after our fix is successful and released, please feel free to upload, report and tag me in 🙂 Thanks for your feedback.

  17. Personally I don't understand why the equation is always simulation=hard and arcade=easy/more enjoyable. A simulation can be for everyone with the right level of assists and options (semplified physics, aids and adapted steering for pad players). ACC is a far superior game than GT Sport (which is just bad). The quality of the handling model plays a huge role and GTS is sub par in every way (and it has nothing to do with the simulation/arcade nature of a game). Arcade is also a product like Project Cars 3, that went too far taking away pit stops, tyre wear and fuel consumption (s

  18. Firstly have a read of this: https://www.ea.com/games/f1/f1-2021/news/announcing-f1-2021 The F1 games develop year-on-year just like other annual sports games do, and this isn't inherently a bad thing. Bear in mind that entirely new games built from scratch take many years to produce.

  19. I have suggested previously that this be added as an optional mini-game. For those who perform full manual starts without tc it can be tricky. Would be nice to have a mini game showing how well a start has been executed I.e optimal power/grip ratio in different conditions and on different compounds. And it could give you a score based on those parameters. I'm not sure however, that this is a priority for codemasters as I think the majority probably at the very least use medium tc which is very easy to use off the line even with manual clutch start.

  20. And yet there are people who play ACC on controllers... I think your comment is ignoring a big strength of the F1 games, which is the assists system which allows difficulty to be gradually adjusted as players improve or choose to increase the challenge. For me any changes should be an extension of this approach.

  21. Yeah believe so. Just for anyone on xbox there is a setting that you can use to make any screenshots or video captures not upload to xbox live so you can still take high quality evidence to put on bug reports

  22. Hi @LEWISt17KIMI, The initial change you are referring too is to meet with technical regulations. I can assure you we did a large re-evaluation and rethink into the way the cars drive, and the results speak for themselves. For someone who has played over 400 hours on each game, (and seen the tech documents) there was vast improvements in not just design, but the way the cars feel to drive and interact with on track. Devils advocate here, but if we got exactly to the real thing (which I don't feel can be done without alienating a whole audience) we'd all be stalling on the installatio

  23. To play devils advocate here, the handling of the cars was the main overwhelmingly positive piece of feedback we had last season. From George Russell and other F1 drivers, the BETA testers, our regulars here, the actual driving of the cars was much improved from 2019 to 2020. I agree it can always be better, but driving the cars on track last year was a massive step forward, and, for me, a enjoyable experience. Also on your first point, we have some incredible pad players who are mega quick (@Flash224 and @Retentive won't mind me appreciating their talents). For me, you should be ab

  24. To extra clarify. EA are publishing this game, Codemasters make the game. There's no pack mechanic in Podium Pass, and Podium Pass is purely cosmetic. Also, you don't have to spend 1000 euros per year on F1, or FIFA for that matter. I spend £10 a year at the start of FIFA because me and my brother have saved that money by historically game-sharing. Never put a penny more into the game, and my FIFA Ultimate Team is pretty good. To speculate that on F1 is pretty far from the truth. I appreciate the enthusiasm here, but a lot of this is purely speculation in this topic. To play devils

  25. To manage expectations here: Firstly, thanks to those who have shown patience and helped me out in discussing that this process takes time. Very appreciated. We've had record amounts of applicants, more than 10,000 people. (That's a small football stadium full, for context). This BETA program will be our largest to date, however, 60%+ of applicants will not make the cut. I must stress that this isn't personal. We've more than tripled our player base for the BETA this year, and the response has been amazing from applications. Not a single code has yet been issued, and I'll updat

  26. Hi guys , ok i got a drive through penalty for jumping the start lights but i also caused a little damage to my wing , so I went in the pits on my first lap to serve my drive throught I didnt want to change my tyres or wing , just serve the penalty , but the game made me pit changed my tyres and wing , so I then i had go around and still serve my penalty, so how do I serve the penalty without the game making me pit for tyres or wing changes ? Thanks.

  31. Hi everyone, I've gone through the forum thread here, and just want to confirm I'm asking the right question to sales before I do it: You want to check that the PS4 version includes the PS5 upgrade as free too (which it does), and for us to update the ambiguous platform information yes? @gedeye @Ultra3142 @Ranger77Ice If this isn't the case, please let me know and I'll ask/inform the sales team 🙂 . Tag me in the response if poss please, as I'm getting a LOT of notifications at the moment

  32. Not sure how much or an improvement we’ll see to the engine sounds this year. Not for any particular reason other than the travel restrictions Covid has had. Usually CM go to pre-season testing and capture audio of all the cars but I’m assuming that hasn’t been possible this year sadly. I guess they could still have made changes and tweaked any audio they had from last year for the new game but I guess we’ll have to see.

  40. The point here is that they want people that know how to make bug reports and follow them up. It doesn't really matter if you play the game 24/7 if you never report what you find and assist in finding the cause to problems you encounter. People wanting the get the beta just so they can play the game before everyone else is of no use to the developers. They need people that are willing to actually work to make the game as good as possible.

  42. Just for the record, I am a codemasters fan boy. Does that make me overly biased? No. I am a sim fan. A long time dirt rally supporter (since day 1) and also a long time f1 game fan, again, since day 1. Do I prefer hard-core sim? Generally yes. I'm not a fan of grid, or any of the other arcade titles. However, a full on hard-core f1 sim would be nigh on impossible to enjoy to the extent I enjoy the current f1 game, 1000 horsepower through the rear? 50% loss of downforce through the corners?. I think, for me atleast, codemasters walk a tightrope almost impossible to walk. Manageabl

  45. I think My Team is a very promising mode, I really like the idea of being able to create your own team from scratch! I hope that with F1 2021 they will add new functions ... for example I would like to see the team starting from F2, and maybe even with a lot more management of the company! Who knows what F1 2021 has in store for us again

  48. Couldn't agree more. It would also be cool if you could filter by assists, or at least see what assists are enabled/disabled in a lobby by simply hovering over it instead of having to join the lobby, exit the lobby if the assist you need isn't allowed, get booted back to the main menu screen, re-join the lobby menu and start over with the next lobby. It's such a tedious process right now to find the right lobby to the point where I often spend more time searching for a lobby than actually racing.
