  1. There's a few nice additions to DIRT 5 that I'd like to drive in a rally game. Audi TT Safari FIAT Abarth 124 Rally Porsche 924 GTS Rallye Porsche 959 Prodrive Rally Raid Renault Clio Williams Maxi ŠKODA Fabia Rally2 Evo (updated R5 from DR2) The DLC cars are mainly SUVs, Rallycross cars, Dakar-style cars and fictional ones. All the traditional rally stuff is in the base game.

  2. I really hope all this conjecture about Frostbite is actually just a clandestine plot to annoy PJ into dropping some distracting gossip somewhere. Secretly, JZS and Jake have been meeting up once a week wearing fake moustaches and planning this squabble down to a finely orchestrated piece of performance art, expertly ramping it up at WRC10's release to make sure they're heard above the very weird tin-like engine sounds that that game continues to make after 5 versions. Bravo fellows, bravo. PJ will be posting mysterious pictures of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 'III' on Instagram any day now, j

  4. Tired of these popular “hmm yummy yummy right right left left top speed me lov it” setups, I did some testing. Wanted to know the influence of camber and toe settings on straight line speed. Just that. Results, not that great of a difference: For the setup columns, greens are minimal values and yellows are maximum values. Just to help on the visualization. In line with what I did for wing angle settings and drag here, I proceeded as follows: Time Trial on Monza, doing standing starts from the DRS line (count of 0m, green bar 100% filled) to make use of that lovely

  5. That's because this game is just F1 2015 that has been built upon for the last 7 years. There are fundamental flaws in the games code that will never be fixed if it remains on the EGO 4.0 engine. It has gone as far as it possibly can.

  6. Thoughtful post!! The weakest part of the F1 games has been telemetry. Bottoming out as a key example. Using the UDP data there is no way to understand whether this occurred because the ride height is an abstraction not a real number, so calculations are impossible. Half the time real F1 cars are on the track during a race weekend the entire focus is on telemetry (practice sessions). In the race the car's telemetry is being constantly tracked as well to understand the state of performance of the car in order to determine possible changes in strategy. Telemetry is a core part of F1 and th

  7. And @JZStudios in the event you wish to continue the, ahem, 'debate', I suggest we resolve the matter with a one-stage online RACE to determine the WINNER of all arguments. @PJTierney can this be facilitated? I have no idea how the online system works.

  8. I'm having an absolute nightmare regarding track difficulty, first time since F1 2016, and all because the ability to change the difficulty in a loading screen has been removed. Yes, you can change difficulty in the HQ before a session. Problem is, AI performances are varying widely for me and once I'm in a session, I'm stuck with what's set and it's spoiling the game. The loading screen menu in 2017-2020 was a lifesaver, why remove it? Please bring it back. Edit: I should probably put an example here. So I'm at the Monaco GP, I've set my difficulty in the HQ and I'm performing

  14. About the stages/location and reusing them for DR3. I am more than happy to see the stages from DR1 and DR2 will back in DR3. They are great and based on real life locations. Its not that the Monza GP is every year on a different track... Why? Well, with the new possibilities that we have seen in DiRT5, i see a massive potential for the "old" locations. Basically you can do every stage in every season and condition and time. Maybe combine that with a "live" weather functionality, and you can run real time events (just like in MS Flight Simulator). And put that together again with

  17. Well, I think I've found a reason to visit the forum more often, finally someone deeply involved in telemetry data and car dynamics like me...we are the fools mate! :) I had noticed the same story "left left right right" and yeah it's so annoying as ppl doesn't seems to bother to try and test or understand what is there behinf car physic..."hey TRL xxxx on youtube say so!" it's like they are reading the gospel or the bible. Did some test too when the game come out and yep it's exactly how you showed...great stuff. This series is still simcade (and how it couldn't be as the majority o

  18. Simple. I wonder if you could add the ability to choose the engine sound for your multiplayer car in Ranked.

  19. @JZStudios You're simplifying what I'm saying to suit your purposes. The quotes are not me saying simply "It's a bad idea to port over the old tracks". It's actually saying that there's probably no avoiding it, but people will complain (and we all know they will), unless there are some new stages. You've even quoted me pointing out how it would be a shame to not drive Scotland again. I suggest not making blanket and adamant statements like "It's going to be in Frostbite, and the physics will therefore be bad, because Battlefield", or "we know the stages in 2.0 are high fidelity enough t

  20. Its just sad, no wonder they back tracked on releasing the separate esports build. What about the customers who have paid for this? It's such fraudulent behaviour. 1.10 better be good. To any developer that is reading this you should be ashamed of yourselves. Find another job.

  22. One of the big problems that's accompanied the Codemasters F1 games for many years has been inconsistent AI performance across the various tracks. This requires those of us that value realism to adjust the difficulty between almost every single track, which is in my mind both immersion breaking and game breaking. I have bought every F1 game since the difficulty slider was introduced in the hopes that this will be fixed, and it never has, and it leads to me dropping the game within a few weeks out of frustration. The latest change - not allowing us to change difficulty in the loading scree

  29. Hi all. Finally I could get steering wheel SF1000 Thrustmaster working. Trick is: Start PS5 and plug in USB. Login with button S1 and then suddenly package start downloading and installing. Then steering wheel SF1000 was working. Strange thing is that installation step is not in manual at all. For now racing.....

  30. Same thing madden 22 has done this weekend. Similar as they both on sale on the store v quickly after release. Clearly trying to push up the sales by giving people free trial but as both are rife with issues and complaints it may actually have the opposite effect. Ie make people think thankfully they didn't spend money on broken games ....

  32. There's not much else to explain apart from we should have the ability to skip waiting for the safety car to go back to the pit lane (similar to how we have the ability to skip formation laps) . It just saves a lot of time, making the F1 2021 experience more convenient. So when the player chooses to skip safety car, it would skip to whereabouts the announcement comes up instructing the player to prepare to start racing again.

  33. The problem seems to be that either some of the data is not transferred, or there are two cars which are have failed to connect to each other, which means that the AI car with a red cross is driving somewhere else for them. In the latter case, it'll be complicated to try to make any kind of "fix"

  35. That's just mental, we should get the difference back. Spend 75 quid on a game that doesnt work for 2 months and then they make it 25% off the week they're about to put in the big patch. This is just fraudulent! Codemasters have no shame!

  41. Guys, stop bickering please. I'm fully onboard with bringing over the existing stages. Two reasons; 1. In many cases they're iconic stages, it would be like launching a sequel to a racing game without the predecessor's most iconic tracks (looks at Project CARS 3) 2. We haven't had opportunity to enjoy all of these stages on the latest engine - I really want to enjoy the Finland stages and Scotland stages without DR2's enforced fog and the Spanish stages with the (hopefully) improved tarmac physics. What a shame it would be if your favourite stage(s) weren't available in t

  42. For T9, its like you have to shift to 7th gear right when the car is straightening out on that exit curb. Im no expert, but seems like the game rewards you for shifting at the right time or something. Like the final chicane at spain and suzuka. shifting up a gear right when you hit the last curb seems to straighten the car out. Don't know how people can play this game on automatic gears! But if you have no issues at T2 or T7, only t9, then perhaps your setup is too understeery for T9? I use the simracing setups mentioned above, not sure if those are the same as the youtube videos, but the

  43. Anyone saying it's not so bad isn't a big player of the mode, is trolling or doesn't know what to expect from it when it's working. I note that same users other comments about his overall opinion of the game didn't mention online at all, so I don't think it's a valid opinion to be honest. I haven't experienced what you have however the overall experience on Playstation is poor and I'm not really playing it much at the moment. I can go into multiplayer and join a ranked lobby to be put in.a lobby by myself, this can happen 3 or 4 times in a row.. this should never happen at all or v

  44. Codemasters needs to do a lot of things. One of them is to show the difference in height when changing it in the garage. Either it’s 1/1 or 1/11 or 11/11, zero visual change. If you go over those unrealistic height on those curbs, you can’t just slowly go over or see a replay that your car is optimized for the track. I guess they don’t want to make this game into a Sim node make this “game” playable. Zero clue. Honestly, Codemasters. Sim or Game? If game, make it drivable. Sim? Then, put some visual clues, or telemetry tools in the garage.
