  1. Dear Members, dear staffs, dear f1 2021 players. I am really angry! Really angry! This game isn't ready for Online, it is not ready for League races and absolutely not ready for a E-Sport Series. This is unbelievable. I watch many F1 leagues on Twitch and drive many myself. And in 10 races, 7 races are desynced, are bugged, and whatever. It got a lot worse after the update. Portimao is such a great track, the best Codemasters has ever done, but the multiplayer is neglected asf. That is not how it works! The servers are so crowded and lag and bug. There i

Since we've been dealing with these issues for a week now. A: No. We've been aware for around a week. We have a bug reported internally on the appropriate systems. I've been tasked to get as much feedback on this topic in one place so our developers can see as much of it as possible. 2. Are all hands on deck working on a fix? A: This issue is on our highest priority list. 3. Will it be this week or can all the leagues already

  3. Hi everyone, Apologies for the delay on this. I'm trying to collate as much information as possible to provide to the developers. The more experienced people here will know we will need bug reports on specific issues you run into to be able to replicate and diagnose. I've merged a number of threads together to create a central location. Our Forum Championship races have been affected too, to much annoyance. My first ever win seems somewhat tainted as others had issues. I understand the frustration of a mode that I am one of the players in too, but to work with me in helping c

  4. Yup, there's a technique to being fast with assists, just there's a technique to being fast without them 🙂 Turning ABS on doesn't mean you can slam the pedal down 100% throughout the entire corner, but it does mean you have a bit of a safety net. If you have ABS on but drive as if you have ABS off, then you get the benefits of both and Jarno's obviously good enough to demonstrate that 🙂

  5. In my opinion racing without any assists should be faster than using any sort of assist, but in F1 2021 ABS is way too overpowered. While using ABS you can gain like 3-5 tenths per lap on people who are using no ABS. In my opinion this has to be tweaked and ABS should be much slower. If you have a look at the Time trial leaderboards you can see it as well. Most people in the top 100 are using ABS.

  6. Desync issues in League races are becoming more common. Last race (PC, Social lobby, hosted in Australia, all drivers in Australia), we had incidents where individual cars were invisible to other cars, but still able to interact / cause penalties. Evidence: https://youtu.be/cR9fZ5sScjA Note the Redbull in P5 takes out the Ferrari in P6 The Redbull reported that the Ferrari was invisible to him. In this video from the Redbull perspective in P5 you can see that is correct (https://youtu.be/H5WvbPcGXIA), the Ferrari is not visible in his mirrors, and is not in P6 for him, the Haas so

  7. Indeed, there seems to be an expectation among regular players that they should be able to turn off something like ABS and immediately go faster and if not then 'assists are overpowered', when in reality it takes mastering (or at least hitting a serviceable level) of the technique to get that advantage.

  8. Hi, What is your experience with multiplayer after the 1.10 patch on PC? Last night we were trying to do our first league race after the patch, 3 divisions. 2 of these had major issues and 1 had to be cancelled after trying 2 remakes. I have been playing F1 since 2019 and know the online isn’t the best out there, but I have never experienced it as bad as yesterday and never seen a cancellation. We were racing at Bahrain at I think the first lobby faulted after a SC which is the new Aston Martin. On the last attempt almost everybody had major desync issues and we ended up with ma

  9. I'm not sure about that. Loading the Race Director screen after a GP is always a joy as there's usually warnings and even 5s penalties dished out for the AI having contact with other AI cars. On the topic as a whole, to say that the "AI in this game completely ignores player positioning" does not reflect my experience at all. And what @Ialyrn showcased is often what I find – naturally with less skill on my part haha! On OP's particular incident, I'd only have a beef with it if it were a consistent behavior. Awareness goes both ways, just like @Naxlr is saying, and I wouldn't go past

  10. The best place to start is your driving, if you are struggling specifically in the wet. It requires a lot of finesse to drive fast in the rain. I spend a lot of my time practicing in the wet so it becomes less of an issue when I am faced with a wet race. I dont even bother with a wet specific setup right now as I learn the game, I just use the default tuning. Something I do in the majority of racing titles while learning and practicing. If you can drive fast in a less than optimal setup, you will feel more benifit when you do put on a good tuning for the car you are driving. Setups can he

  11. Yeah, a couple of tools to help here. If we take a photo of the colour scheme from google such as And then we can use https://html-color-codes.info/colors-from-image/ to get the HEX code for the blue, in this case #ADE4F8 Entering that into https://formula1color.com/ which was made for 2020 but works the same for the new game we get: Hope that helps, been huge for me in getting the right colours I'm looking for pretty quickly and accurately.

  12. No in my opinion, that is most happened mistake in a fight with an opponent. We often ignore other racers because we think, "well i am in front, so the ideal line is mine". That thought is too easy and don't work in a sport like this. If someone already next to you, or even some part of his car (seen by the red arrows) then, you should better leave space. This is a situation when you exactly should not insist on your driving line. A clean duel means that you have to adapt your line, you have to accept, someone else is there. If someone is attacking in the inline, you failed "closing the d

  13. I understand that frustration and I share it. See the e-sport statement that I linked above and the "mixed" (to say the least) reactions about it. However I do not think it is that simple. I am not an IT / network guy, but guessing into the blue, it seems to me that the current way how multiplayer games are being organized (1 of the players becomes the host with his very PC, all other players PC's or consoles connect to that and to each other) is the major part of the problem. It would be interesting to learn, in what way the e-sports build differs here. This game needs dedicated servers,

  14. What makes me thinking tho is that the essentials to the AI behaviour should be the same from 0-110 like leaving space, awareness of the the players car etc. The speed they go is of course different but in case (which is quite possible) Codemasters decided to make the AI behave different (potentially less aggressive etc.) on lower levels it explains a lot.. Seems like its the case but maybe theres more to it anyway, only Codemasters know haha

  15. Yeah just what i thought, its unfortunate those things happen more on e.g. your difficulty but it seems to be that way, with time you will get better and then the problems with the AI will become even less and till then you can give them more space when you know by now that they are happy to make mistakes😉

  16. Thai thread would be way more productive if we could do away with the superlative and generalizing comments - as in the very first page we got video demonstrating great awareness and behavior of the AI. Sharing clips or at least informing the AI level the session was in is rather basic when discussing AI programming. Just venting is ok too. Just gets tiring and pointless really fast.

  17. As i said its rare (luckily) but it happens, as KNT2011 said, you have to be able to accept that haha but i guess thats the difference between you and me, i dont "run away" from a confrontation and expect the AI to leave space too (mostly because the did last games too) but its a perfectly fine way to give them more space than necessary, just not my kinda way😄

  18. Funny reading as mostly an online player as any self respecting ranked player would have punted you off over the fence and into the next town for having the audacity to think you could overtake without incident. Seriously though, it's a ****** incident but it's hardly an indictment of terrible AI. the game is regarded as having some of the highest level in racing games but of course you're racing against code, it's going to seem like it's doing dumb things from time to time. It's the right driver to do something wrong though, and in racing you have to be able to accept that **** ha

  19. This was undoubtedly a bad decision by the AI Mazepin, hopefully one among many he could have made. Unless that behavior gets repeated consistently, that's pretty what I want to see from an AI car that the game wants us to believe that is substantially more prone to dumb decisions than others.

  20. Yep, but not only with that. With braking, essentially you can demand more than what your tyre's grip can account for either by (1) requiring too much braking force and/or (2) asking the front to simultaneously brake and turn. You can do it all concurrently and have great performance as long as you don't exceed your grip budget. So ABS can and will kick in when braking in a straight line if your brake bias isn't in conformity with your load distribution. Say one end of the car is really light and that particular axle can only deal with 80% braking power. If you request more, the ABS will

  21. Exactly as long as you are aware of them and don't just expect them to give up the corner or battle easily you will have great battles. But if you just drive like you own the road then things like the op experience wil happen. Like I said all they had to do was go wide entry in to that corner and continue the battle out and in to the next corner. It posts like this that could get the ai dumbed down and just be passive bots which we definitely don't want .
    2 points
  22. You didn't leave any space and you had plenty of space to your right to go in to that corner at a wider entry as the ai you passed can't just vanish when you pass them they still on your inside and you have to have some awareness of were the ai is which in this instance you did not . In this case it wasn't a ai fault but your error. You want ai with no awareness go play acc then you will appreciate this ai a lot more ...

  25. This needs to be addressed as a priority, IMO. A Triple-A game, that suffers with a simple concept of online play, is not value for money. League racing is a big part of the game, particularly with the uptick in sim racing, due to COVID-19. To not address, will ruin the franchise for future releases, as people will turn their heads toward other games to get their league racing fix. Shockingly, the e-sports build will have no issues and I fear as long as this is the case, nothing will be challenged.

  26. I have never noticed this. I only crashed with AI when I ignored that someone is attacking or is even next to me, while I stay on the ideal line. If you have a video, we could discuss your situation. The AI is aggressive but it is not more aggressive than human beings are.

From the video: Braking assist High:+2.14 Braking assist Medium:+1.2 Braking assist Low: +0.5 ABS: +0.1 (-0.1) TC FULL: +1.7 TC MEDIUM: +0.7 Gearbox: +0.7 He did it by doing two laps with each assist on in Mexico. The differences are to his base lap with no assists. Honestly, I'm ok with that. ABS and TC are real assists and the way they work are (1) sensing when the wheels are about to exceed their grip, (2) cutting or capping the respective input when they're about to do so. They're usually on tuned on the "conservative" side, so there's still a margin of grip left when they kic

  29. At least, if you do 90% of your manual breaking right, you should be on par or slightly ahead of the brake assist users. Thats hard enough to manage in longer sessions. Sure, for casuals or controller users there has got to be some kind of assistance to get them around the course, but it should be noticeably slower than breaking manually. As for the recorded trial times, times achieved without assists should have their own, seperate listing, that would be rewarding enough.

  30. Agreed, driving without assists should be much more appreciated as there is a lot more skill and time invested to learn it

  31. Have codemasters made a statement about the farce that is online lobbies at the moment and if they’re planning on fixing it? If so can someone point me in the direction of it. We’re 6 league races in and 4 of them have been disrupted by desync, glitched cars on track. Safety car lagging backwards into the cars and the leaderboards messing up. And after seeing what happened in PGSL I can imagine them having to respond and not ignore the complaints. Lot of money for a game that doesn’t even work. Shambles

  32. In every step in any online mode everyone have to press OK. May it be confirm to join the game, confirm qualifying to start, confirm race to start or confirm race end. This adds so much waiting time since everyone need to press OK for the game to proceed and far from everyone does that. Could we please remove a few of them at least for a smoother online experience?

  35. A detailed description of the issue. Two issues that are likely connected (happened in the same session): 1) Delta speed timer cut short by "Safety Car coming back into pits" message resulting in DT Penalty I entered the pits during Safety Car. After exiting the pits I could not see the Delta for several seconds due to the yellow "CATCH SAFETY CAR QUEUE" banner at the top of the screen. The timer then appeared but stopped abruptly with 12.3 seconds remaining when the "SAFETY CAR COMING IN THIS LAP" Message appeared, resulting in me getting a Drive-Through Penalty for "speeding

  36. Hello. I understand and agree that for a intentional collision, I should be removed from the league. But I want to finally explain the reasons for my intentional collision. I believe that Singapore Lizard is a pilot that has no respect for rivals. Singapore Lizard routinely allows off-piste trips and “dangerous re-entry” (for which a fine is required). The Singapore Lizard broke three races for me in this league - Hungary and two races in Portugal. No protest can be made here and there are no judges. So I became a judge and crashed into Singapore Lizard (after it ruined my third race). Below a

It would seem that this issue with online desync is a thing in 1.10 Desync issues in League races on PC - Report an Issue - Codemasters Community Last night's league race I had two incidents that were down to desync and others reported issues. We were looking forward to a full grid having merged Tiers 6 and 7. Skatie disconnected and rejoined the session during qualifying (05:30 onwards, various points in qualifying). SirBrokalot was crashed out first lap by "two Alpines driving through him". (26:25) Skatie and Flyskils are both showing as 'red bars' or 'X' connec

  38. This is 100% correct. With regards to ABS specifically, if you brake as though you are not using the assist, trying not to activate ABS at all. You will find you will lose barely any time with it. This isnt because the assist is "overpowered", its because you, as a driver, are braking correctly. Braking distences are reletively the same, they only really increase if you are braking so hard that ABS is activating. When all you should be doing with ABS, is using it as a safty net. The same thing happens with traction control also, the harder you are on the throttle, the more it will ac

  44. @BarryBL I cannot speak for the "ranked" races but I spend most of my time in social play "experienced" or 25% races. Since the last patch things have been terrible for me. Takes several tries to get into a lobby. I get 5 or 6 errors before finally getting in a lobby. I have also noticed a lot of cars teleporting all over the track while racing. We cannot race with cars jumping all over the place! Yesterday I put in a descent qual lap at Spa that I should have had the pole. I was moved to P2 and the the guy who ended up on the pole had no time, see picture below. This guy then took me out

  45. Thanks for the feedback There are discussions about postponing league entirely now until we see some improvement. I mainly use F1 for league racing and in my current community it has been tremendously fun. But what is the point if the game is so broken now it is not possible to complete a short Q and 50% race.

However, I don't think that's entirely fair. Again, you can disagree with me if you want, that's fine, but I'll explain why I don't follow that logic as it were. Firstly, I'll foc

It's impossible to understand real ride height, as it's impossible to estimate aero load! An 11 rear wing Vs a 1 rear wing results in same suspension travel..so it's not adding any further compression aka impossible to estimate aero load. Not to mention rear and front coefficient of lift its the exactly the same, as if the front and rear wing generate same load! Plus the fact they keep using clicks instead of NM or mm or Angles...
