  1. Hi all, Glad to see so many of you are enjoying playing DiRT 3 again, there have been a few users which have experienced issues though and we’ve been working hard all day to get those fixed. Game Won’t Start Bug Turns out that this was an issue with an audio driver called OpenAL not installing correctly. We’ve just set a small patch live to fix this issue. Thank you to everybody who helped us get to the bottom of the problem. I Can’t Redeem My GFWL Key A small number of players who purchased GFWL CD Keys from resellers such as Direct2Drive and Get Games haven’t been able to redeem their keys. We’ve got to the bottom of this issue now and are working with Valve to get it fixed as quickly as we can. Big thank you to Valve and to you all for again helping us get to the bottom of the issue. I will post an update on the Steam Community Hub as soon as that fix is in place.  UPDATE: Those with keys purchased digitally from vendors such as Direct2Drive/Gamefly, get games etc should now be able to redeem their keys.  Players who purchased their game from the Games For Windows Live Marketplace have also reported issues, we’re working to get this fixed however I won’t have any more information on when these keys will become operational until next week. My Wheel Full Locks to the Right. A few users with Logitech wheels are reporting that their wheel goes into full lock when they start the game. We’re still looking into the issue but we need to make sure everybody is using the most up-to date drivers. Please download the latest drivers from here and let us know if you are still having the issue by following the instructions  UPDATE: Thanks for the help with this so far, its become clear it's not just users with logitech wheels now - we are sorry about the problem and will get it looked at. It would be really helpful if we could get as much info about your systems/setups as possible, if you could please provide the info requested here in as much detail as possible it will help us get to the bottom of it. Thanks a lot for your support and kind words over the last 24 hours; it’s been brilliant reading all your comments, reviews and checking out your screenshots in the community hub.     DiRT Rally (2015) FAQ

    What is DiRT Rally? DiRT Rally is the latest game in the DiRT series and we’re releasing it first in Early Access for PC and asking for help from our fans to develop it over time. What is Early Access? This is how Steam define what early access is “Get immediate access to games that are being developed with the community’s involvement. These are games that evolve as you play them, as you give feedback, and as the developers update and add content. We like to think of games and game development as services that grow and evolve with the involvement of customers and the community. There have been a number of prominent titles that have embraced this model of development recently and found a lot of value in the process. We like to support and encourage developers who want to ship early, involve customers, and build lasting relationships that help everyone make better games. This is the way games should be made” And that is exactly how we feel about it too; we want you to feel like part of the development team and help us build a better game. When will it be available? DiRT Rally is available now for PC via Steam. Surprise! What do I get for my money? At release DiRT Rally will include a total of 36 rally stages spread across Monte Carlo, Greece and Wales. We have a total of 17 cars, from 1960s classics right through to modern day machines. As time goes on we’ll be adding more cars, more environments, we’ll be climbing Pikes Peak and going door-to-door around a selection of the best circuits from the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship. We’ll also be adding features based on your feedback so be sure to let us know what you’d like to see included in future updates. OK so how much does that extra stuff cost me? Not a penny, regardless of when you join us for Early Access you’ll have access to all of our updates and all of the content we add during our Early Access period at no extra charge. When is DiRT Rally coming to console? For now, we’re focussed on Early Access. It’s really important to us that we make DiRT Rally the best game it can be and we can only do that with your help. Steam Early Access is the perfect place for us to do that. We believe that DiRT Rally is the game many of our fans want and right now, our plan is to develop DIRT Rally with community feedback and get that experience absolutely right.     DiRT Rally Championship 2015

    I figured its about a year since the DiRT Rally Championship League thing we ran and I wondered who would be up for it again this year? Maybe start it at the end of this month/early next and run for a few weeks like before? We should start with a Monte Carlo Rally now most people have access to it I think. Anybody interested, I might make a few changes to the rules this year too.

That’s how awesome you guys are, you’ve been our inspiration and got us through some tough times. So thank you. Today starts a new chapter in DiRT history; today we’re doing something that scares the absolute crap out of us, but in a good way. Today we’re not only announcing a new DiRT game but we’re making it available as an early access title on Steam... SURPRISE! If you literally can’t wait any longer to get your hands on it then you’ll find it right here, but while it’s downloading I want you to come back and read about why we’re doing this and more importantly how you can help. Welcome back, so why Early Access? There are a number of reasons but mainly because we want to make sure we get this right. You’ve been asking us for a game that is pure rally with none of the fluff, one that has more stages, longer stages and repairs in between stages.   6. Thank you for participating in our Early Access program for DiRT Rally and helping to shape the development of the game, your ideas and feedback are really important to the success of the game. As we’re sure most of you are aware DiRT Rally is an Early Access title and constantly in development, so from time to time we’re going to hit a few bumps and encounter bugs. As we continue through our early access period we’ll keep a public list of known issues and give you regular updates on our progress with each of them. The first part of that process is where you come in and the more information you can provide us about these bugs and your system the quicker we can get to the bottom of the issue. To report a bug we’re asking that you copy and paste the below form into a new thread and post it in the bug reporting section of the forums so please be sure to give it a clear and descriptive title. Bug Report Form ----------------------------------------------------------------------- System Spec (Provide as much info about your rig as possible) Steps to reproduce (eg Game Mode > Stage > Car > Camera view > distance into stage) Your recent history of races  (Mode, Vehicle, Track, Conditions) Which stage were you within the championship\custom event? (Stage name) What were you doing specifically when the crashed occurred? (How and where did it happen?) How long was your current session? (how long had you been playing for roughly?) Which graphics preset were you using? (you can view this in game from the main menu) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- In addition to this (and if reporting a graphical bug) please include a screenshot, to take one simply press F12 at anytime while playing the game. Save Game Issues Should you have any save game Issues (missing progress data or corruption) please make a note of the error code which is displayed on your screen and include that with your bug report. If you get a corrupt save game you must quit out of the game and send us the current save data before you revert to the backed up save data. We look at save game issues as the highest priority, so after posting your bug report to the forums please send an email to dirtgame[at]codemasters[dot]com with a link to your forum post and Zip the following folder - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\*YourSteamIDNumber*\310560\ To get your DX Diag This can be created by typing “dxdiag” into your start menu, then running “dxdiag.exe”. After the green progress bar has completed in the bottom left, please press “save all information” to save the required .txt file. Email it over to us including in the email a description of how and when the error box pops up Send it to dirtgame@codemasters.com Obviously please keep in mind that DiRT Rally is still in development and by taking part in Early Access you are helping us to make it a better game for all.   7. Hi all, First up I want to say sorry for just how long it has taken to move DiRT 3 to Steamworks and I would also like to thank you all for keeping up the pressure on us to move it over. Every day I have over a hundred notifications on my Steam account, there are threads thousands of comments deep about it and countless Tweets and Facebook messages - while you’d think it would be the kind of thing that would bug the hell out of me, you’d be wrong. It just goes to show that you guys love DiRT and care about it a lot; I’m hoping you’ll bring that passion with you for where we’re going next... ...Anyway before I get into trouble, I’m pleased to announce that DiRT 3 is now available with 100% less Games for Windows Live. You'll find it here on the Steam Store As a thank you for your patience over this last year we’ll be upgrading everybody who owns DiRT 3 to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition, which will include all of our DLC for no extra cost. If you currently have the GFWL version of DiRT 3 in your Steam Library you should now also have access to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition which should already be there your list of owned games. To play it simply select it from your library and click install. However if you own a boxed PC copy of DiRT 3 or have a Games For Window Live CD Key you can now activate that CD key on Steam. To do so simply follow the below steps: Load up your Steam Client Click “Add a game” found in the bottom left of the window Click “Activate a product on Steam” Click “Next” Follow the instructions and when asked enter your CD Key into the “Product Code” box (include any hyphens and capital letters) Hit “Next” Your code will then be verified and the DiRT 3 Complete Edition will be added to your library And you’re good to go! Those who originally purchased the game via Steam will notice that the now old GFWL version of DiRT 3 will still be in your library. You will still be able to play this version but it will still include Games for Windows Live and you won’t have access to the Complete Edition content in the old version – nothing will have changed with that older version. Due to the differences with the two versions unfortunately your save files will not be compatible with each other. We know it sucks and we are sorry but it was unavoidable. As an added bonus if you also happen to own a Mac you will now have access to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition via Steam on that too. And of-course we’ve also included a set of Steam Trading cards for you to collect and added all of the original DiRT 3 achievements. Finally thank you again for sticking with us and a big thank you to the rather awesome people at Feral Interactive who helped us with the work. Keep it lit.     In-game League Support

    I could beat around the bush and try find a way to get out of you what you're preference would be in one of my DiRTy little games but lets be honest.... It's no secret :P So.. We'll do this the easy way, we're currently toying with the idea of adding proper full on league support to *cough* one of our upcoming titles but we need your help with it. We want to make sure we get the design of it right and while we have our own ideas about how it should work I think it's really important that we speak to the people that would hopefully use it the most (we don't want to do it half arsed). I don't want to colour your thoughts with what we're thinking of doing so I won't post that just yet (though I promise to post up one of our ideas for the feature later) We have at our disposal the game and the website and I want to know how would you would want league support to work? What kind of things do you want control over? What kind of info do you want displayed in game? How do you want to manage your league? and more importantly would you want to use it or do you prefer the way you currently run your leagues? That kinda stuff, open to all ideas - I'll answer any questions I can.  I'm not saying this will 100% happen, we're just putting the feelers out to see what you think :) (GRID, F1 and OT crowd that happen to be reading this post up your thoughts too)

    Announcing Toybox Turbos!

Bursting with multiplayer fun to share with your friends and family, Toybox Turbos takes you to kitchen tables, pool halls and science labs in this manic, miniaturised table top racer! Each table top track is full of obstacles and shortcuts and filled with awesome and ridiculous power-ups. Use mines, machines guns and, of course, giant (well technically they are pretty small), car-mounted hammers as you race a selection of 35 super-fun toy vehicles, ranging from sports cars to moon buggies, diggers, ice cream vans and loads more. We’ve got six game modes and epic boss battles in the single-player game: sprint for the line in Classic Races, set your best time in Time Trial, pass turbocharged busses in Overtake, avoid getting wiped out by the tide in Escape, beat the clock in Countdown, and race to the edge of the screen in Elimination mode. And I was just interested - What kinds of things would you like to see in an achievement list? Give us a few names, tell us how to unlock them and how much you think they should be worth.   15. Today we’ve gone flat out for #throwbackthursday today with the release of Colin McRae Rally, featuring classic retro rally gameplay, made all nice and shiny, for PC and Mac. This latest version of Colin McRae Rally is based on PlayStation One classic Colin McRae 2.0. It follows the release of Colin McRae Rally on the App Store last year, which became the number one rally game in many countries around the world, and calls from you guys to bring that classic Colingameplay back to more platforms.  That process started with a release on Android and Blackberry earlier this year, and today we launch on Steam! This version features handling and physics inspired by Colin McRae Rally 2.0 and is upgraded with re-mastered audio and definitively fancier 1080p graphics.   17. Weather update… It’s bloomin’ marvellous outside! So with that out of the way let’s get on with this week’s update. All that and more in this week's update  
  18. It’s Community Spotlight time and this week we’re talking to Codemasters forum member; DiRT fan and owner of one of the sweetest gaming rigs we’ve ever seen; Avenga76. Tell us about your rig and give us some hard specs My rig is a heavily modified GT Omega EVO chassis using a Fanatec Clubsport wheel, pedals and an H-Shifter. For rally I use the BMW M3 GT2 rim with a DSD hydraulic handbrake and Short Shift Pro-Comp Sequential Shifter. The Fanatec CSW has a quick release system so I can swap over to the formula rim for open wheelers. I’m also using a SimXperience GS-4 6DOF motion seat which uses servo motors to simulate the sustained G-forces, bumps and impacts you would feel while racing. Under the seat cover there are these large metal paddles on the bottom and back of the seat which will press against you as you race. So for example if you are turning right then the seat will apply pressure to the left side of the seat simulating the lateral G-forces you would feel as your body is pushed against the seat towards the outside of the corner. Also, to further enhance the motion feedback I have an 8 transducer SimVibe setup which has eight bass shakers positioned strategically around my rig to recreate the different vibrations coming from different locations in the car based on the suspension, engine and other motion data from the game.     How to Report Spam

    Hi all, You may have noticed we've caught the attention of a few spam bots this afternoon. Firstly we are sorry they've managed to get in and mess up the joint and we are working with the forum providers to get it stopped.  In the meantime we have tweaked some of the forum settings to better enable you to help us police it. To remove and report a spam post simply hover over the Flag icon at the bottom of the post and click on the Spam button. The post should then vanish from the boards where it enters our admin/spam queue. As a reward we'll be dishing out a special "dats the sound of da police" badge to everybody who reports one of the offending posts early next week. You are competing against the clock and not directly against other drivers. These are lighter, grippier versions of street cars, which are well balanced and around 500bhp. Drift cars are rear wheel drive, with increased steering lock and short gears which amplify the level of torque. Controlling these cars requires coordinating the amount of counter steer, modulating the throttle and brakes to shift the weight balance, as well as careful use of the handbrake. Timing is essential, or else you will simply spin out.
