After Codemasters acquired SMS Studios, I at least believe that the next game should have a graphical enhancement over last year's game.

SMS's games Project CARS and Project CARS 2 had some very great graphics, so I predict the graphics for F1 2020 would look substantially better than F1 2019.

    I doubt it.

E: As in I doubt it that acquiring SMS is what will make the graphics different, but just the normal better graphics every year thing Codies have going on (F1 2018 and 2019 were both said to include great looking graphics when they were released)

I like coffee.  I can drink tea.  They are both different and have different advantages and disadvantages.  A bit like pad and wheel.  However everyone just accepts that tea isn’t coffee and visa versa.  Let’s move on

Most problems people have had like The "kicked for online cheating" or the 1008H: error were caused by stuff done on codies end.

Kicked for cheating isn't usually a problem that has anything to do with Codies end except for the fact that the game detected something is wrong with your files. Weren't most 1008H errors also caused by the game and their own configuration?

When something works fine one day then not the next after something codies changed you can know straight away its not your own configuration.

This is not what most issues are though. It's quite rare to see issues caused by an update considering we have multiple bug reports every single day despite there being no updates. There is also a chance that some software (such as drivers, os, etc.) may have changed as well, causing the issue. Or maybe the developer added a support for a OS feature that you've somehow broken by fiddling with the files yourself.

More of the story that bug reports are ridiculously annoying for everyone, as testing things takes loads of time 🙂

  4. The problem why it doesn't affect certain things, is because you're modifying a config files that doesn't modify the objects' LOD.

hardwaresettings_config is just a file to customize the graphical settings a bit, but they're not really meant for properly modifying the game (hence why LOD changes in that file tend to break loads of things)

You may be able to find a lead from some of the other files the game may include 😉

  5. Our helpful support guy is slowly losing his mind 😜

I think on the GRID side, over 50% of the crash reports* were caused by the users' drivers being out of date. I don't think it's a scretch to imagine that many of the issues are in part caused by something that cannot easily be tested for, as most tend to tinker with their hardware/os/driver settings at some point or another.

*It's possible that many of the reports could be duplicates from the same person as they've tried to start the game over and over again.

  6. Now for my own opinions about the topic, which no one wants to hear anyways 😁

I think that on street circuits it'll most likely be the wheel user that has the advantage, as it's easier for them to learn how much you need to turn the wheel and how much can you press the pedal down.

These are a bit harder to do on the pad with the same amount of training I'd say. Usually it isn't really about how quick you can get your wheel to turn but how accurately you can control your wheel rotation and pedals, that will give you the advantage on a street circuit 🙂

Damage and longer races usually make people more sensible.
Or at least the people that are made of dirt crash out, won't wait 20 minutes, and you'll never see them again.

Playing no damage is basically saying collisions are allowed.

I don't think damage really has a huge part in it. Most if not all of our drivers acted clean around me, but mistakes tend to happen (I smashed into the back of a car twice as I had no clue when I had to brake, meaning that someone now probably thinks I'm a dirty cheater and wrecker)

What damage tends to do is frustrate the driver that crashed even more, as they'll lose even more time due to having to pit etc.

Longer races are something I've considered, but that'd require more people on the Steam Chat 😉

  8. As some have already mentioned, having the tracks in-game would be preferable. We already have short circuits for example. Skipping the track on career on only a specific season may require some work though.

Besides that I struggled tremendously with grip and setups and finally deiced just to go for the standard which turned out to be the best choice in the end.

This seemed to be a problem for me as well. Though I may have encountered this issue. I can't say for certain at this stage.

Depending on how many of you guys use the Steam Chat link (now in my signature as well!) to join our chat, we may be able to hold a private race if that's something people would be interested in 🙂

  10. I've never seen this before. I'll try to remove images from the duplicate thread to see if that fixes something.

E: Yeah I have absolutely no clue why this happens. A fix could be to bomb all the attachments somehow, but if you don't have loads of things to edit, then it's probably just better to leave the image there.

****, if you delete an image from a forum post it seems to bug out and leave a copy at the bottom of the post.

Delete in which way? As in using backspace, or pressing the delete button.

These have minor differences, and the image would be removed from your "global attachments" if that was the last copy of it or so. Though the hidden post most likely prevents the deletion of it from the global attachment list

E: I can remove the image from the bottom of the post if you'd like.
