Tarmac Handling: Spain vs Germany vs Monte Carlo
Jack4688 replied to ianism's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Look at 10:35 - no infuriating hay-bale chicanes! -
Where was the logic in there? I missed it đ KT Racing are contracted to make WRC10 and WRC11 to be clear: âWRC Promoter, which owns the commercial rights to the FIA World Rally Championship, has also confirmed WRC 10 and WRC 11 after extending its licensing agreement with game publisher Nacon and development studio KT Racing until 2022.â https://www.wrc.com/en/news/season-2020/esports/wrc-9-video-game-set-for-new-generation-consoles/

WRC is confirmed for two more titles after WRC9 with Kylotton

I predict something along the lines of DiRT 5. Good news that there will be something to really look forward to aside from the next launch too đđđ

If thereâs a DiRT Rally 3, what new locations do we want to see?
Jack4688 replied to RGgiac's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Iâve been calling for Mollâs Gap in County Kerry, Ireland for a while. It has brilliant cambered sections and ends with a blast out of a junction and past a pub in a stunning setting. Most famously used in Killarney Rally of The Lakes. Manx Rally/Rally Isle of Man has some brilliantly fast yet narrow stages and more open stages up on the moors. The stage in particular that stands out to me is either of Little London or Druidale - they go through that famous double hairpin at Brandywell Cottage. I agree with Ypres as suggested above - I think it has a good mix of high speed sections as well as junctions to launch out of. The sting in the tail of Ypres is those ditches! The only other tarmac Iâd like to see (regardless of how much the tarmac physics improve) is some more mileage to Monte Carlo. Some locations are fine as they are but Monte is one of the most limited in terms of the variety the real life event offers. Col de Turini is good, but there can be way more environments from Rallye Monte Carlo to give it some variety. An extra stage in Argentina is probably the next most needed to add that variety to the event. Iâd also agree with more stage mileage in NZ and Wales - Dyfi in particular I agree with! As NZ is already a stage in Waikato pretending to be a stage in Hawkes Bay I think thereâs more scope for Kuri Bush in Otago or one of the Whangarei stages to be included, also as âHawkes Bayâ. I donât want to just say a country and say add a stage there; this is only helpful if a particular stretch of road is cited (so I fall foul with my suggestion of âone of the Whangarei stagesâ), or at the very least a specific rally, so the only stages I can definitely pick out are probably going to be an unpopular choice: Somewhere in England. Iâm thinking one of either Gale Rigg, Cropton or Dalby in North Yorkshire or Grizedale in the Lake District. There are two reasons: 1) Iâm British and therefore a little biased towards British rallying heritage and; 2) despite this likely being unpopular because there are already two locations within GB - this could allow the game to do a couple of things: both a domestic British Season before you dip your toe into European or World championship rallies and; combine them all in one to create an old-fashioned RAC Rally. My last suggestion Iâm fully expecting people to not get on board with but hear me out (if you havenât already got bored of my long-ass post and scrolled past!). Some kind of stage âeditorâ where you pick a location, for example Baumholder. Then you pick surrounding environment, for example the thick forest of Jämsä. Then you pick the surface, for example the smooth gravel of Perth & Kinross. I just like the idea of some of the current locations but âreappropriatedâ if you will to be another location by combining stages with different surfaces and different environments. -
What cars do we want to see in a future DIRT Rally game?
Jack4688 replied to F2CMaDMaXX's topic in DiRT Rally Series Suggestions
Thereâs not many cars I dislike, but like has been said already if they drop NR4 thatâll be no big loss. Also if H1 were dropped I wouldnât miss the Mini, DS or Fulvia - theyâre just too underpowered to be worth it for this game. In terms of cars I wanna see Iâve got a soft spot for some of the obscure Group A stuff - â87 Audi Coupe quattro, â93 Audi S2, Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, Mazda 323 GTR/GTX, Opel Calibra Turbo 4x4, Ford Sierra Sapphire, Delta Integrale 16v (thatâs pre-Evoluzione), Lancer Evo I. It would be nice if there was a flow between the demise of Group B and into Group A when nobody really knew what they were doing (Ford persisted with RWD, Audi went back to a naturally aspirated engine and the BMW had both) except Lancia until about 1990 when all new Group A8 cars were 4WD. -
What features do we want to see in a future DIRT Rally game?
Jack4688 replied to caerphoto's topic in DiRT Rally Series Suggestions
I just had an idea on the career mode calendar of events on my drive to work: the WRC used to be 13ish events but only a certain number of scores counted towards your season tally, also the ERC used to be just about a rally every single weekend (sometimes more than one per weekend) and drivers chose their most favourable events to compete in and score points. How about the career mode features all 13 locations (in a logical order as well!) in a Project Cars-style yearly calendar. Only 6 rallies count towards the championship (as they do in 2.0) so you only need to pick your 6 favourite/strongest events, as do your competitors. If you have the budget or if youâre driving for a factory team then you can do 2, 3, 4 etc. more rallies for a better chance at getting 6 good strong points scores. It would mean if, for example, some of us canât stand driving Argentina, Australia and Poland and really want to do Wales and NZ every single season then you can have some say over which rallies you do and which you avoid. -
What features do we want to see in a future DIRT Rally game?

Having been playing the Flat Out pack non stop since I got it Iâd like to make another suggestion for this thread: More Scenario game modes. The Colin McRae game mode is actually way better than I was expecting - it gives you the opportunity to have a taste of someoneâs career highlights when you donât have the attention span to do an epic 12-stage, 12-round rally championship. Maybe, in addition to a return of the Colin McRae mode, we could have a Richard Burns mode if it were released in time for the 30th anniversary of his British Rally Championship win? (In time for the 20th anniversary of his World title is definitely out of the question). Maybe also some scenarios based around something else other than a driver - Group B and/or Group A scenarios? All of these of course would need to go with a history lesson and some appropriate in-period video clips! -
Right understood, but what did that have to do with either Scotland (as per my original quoted post) or NZ (as per NATOaddiffâs post)? Remember when DR2.0 was launched last year there was no WRC-NZ connection
-
Youâve completely lost me. What does WRC have to do with Scotland? And what ânew NZ stagesâ are you on about?
-
It needs to be at least..... twice as big as this

My point is there is a comically low amount of snow at this yearâs Rally Sweden. It was a joke. đ
-
I just wanted to post about a very glaring error in DiRT Rally 2.0, which has been there since DR1 actually. As evidenced by the attached pictures Rally Sweden is run on gravel, without any snow in sight. The devs must have gone to Värmland at the wrong time of year or something, lol they must be kicking themselves for this ****-up đ Sort it out Codemasters! #GameIsBroken #Unplayable #SnowNoBuy Pictures credit: https://www.ewrc.cz/foto/60140-rally-sweden-2020/515/

Abarth 124 confirmed for DiRT Rally đ
-
Well, considering there is no real rally version of the M2 Iâd be very surprised if anyone had âSeen it for realâ đ If weâre getting more dream cars in the next DiRT can we get a modern day interpretation of Group A - but with cars like Mk7 Golf R, Hyundai i30N, Mk3 Focus RS, Mk3 Audi S3, Mk2 Peugeot 308 GTI, all with 4WD (so not modern day Group A really) and a 2.0l turbo đ

Jack4688 replied to caerphoto's topic in DiRT Rally Series Suggestions
While that would result in a much better game in the WRC series I reckon that would severely limit what Codemasters can dish out to us each time. Theyâd have to make a new game each year - or presumably have to justify if they wanted to take a yearâs break - and they probably wouldnât be able to include all the extra cars and locations which gives DR quite a lot of USP. I also think the competition between DR and WRC is healthy - theyâll both be trying their hardest to make the best rally sim so my hope is one day I will buy a WRC game and keep it for more than two days đ -
When???

What features do we want to see in a future DIRT Rally game?

Thanks for providing an answer, usually on this subject critics of the DLC situation just repeat their want for free DLC. I think the biggest difference between GT and DR is that GT is more well-known these days than DR so it has a bigger fanbase and so profit is probably way more predictable for Polyphony than for DR. Rally games (and rallying in general) have fallen into quite a niche since the days of Colin McRae Rally and Colin McRae Rally 2.0. Whereas GT can bank on a lot of people buying whatever their next game is because GT is the driving game for the Playstation and has been since 1997. Codemasters dipped their toe in the water to a degree with DiRT Rally and we werenât even sure weâd get a DiRT Rally 2.0 for a while so I think itâs still somewhat of a business risk for them. I get your objection to it but I think comparing it to the most successful racing game of all time doesnât add up. Also the work that goes into making real-life rally stages must be incredibly more time intensive than a racing circuit, and we donât hear people complaining about GT and Forza etc re-using the same old boring F1 circuits like Silverstone đ´ or Circuit de Catalunya đ´ yet the work that went into us getting to drive Ouninpohja, Sweet Lamb and (hopefully) Drummond Hill is deemed ânot enoughâ. -
Havenât we already got this livery pretty much? For the Escort Cosworth Iâd be more than happy with Malcolm Wilsonâs Michelin Pilot Sport livery!
-
@PJTierney sneakily put something extra in white text below it đ
-
Haha thatâs quite a leap! Werenât we talking about liveries? đ

With respect, to describe it as half-finished is just your opinion. It is entirely the prerogative of the developer of any game to decide what content is available at launch and what shall become available later as DLC. If you know how to make a game of DR2.0âs content and quality with everything from DLC available at launch, for one price and to turn a profit on it then by all means share it with us all and maybe Codemasters could learn something from you. More detail, really? The level of detail in the stages is pretty good for a rally game. Out of curiosity could expand on what detail youâd like to see more of? -
Unpopular opinion; I really like the first WRC-spec Lancer from 2002. It had a similarly understated look to the group A Evo VI but in the Evo VII body style. Iâd love to see it in a DiRT game.
-
One point worth making even if weâre keeping it basic is that none of these cars have any interchangeable parts i.e. you cannot upgrade an R2 to an R5 nor an R5 to a WRC
