DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

DR2.0 doesn’t have any current World Rally Cars. The ones you mention, the R5 Fiesta and Citroen C3, are not World Rally Cars. They are R5 class cars, the class below WRC and a rules set that is not exclusive to the World Rally Championship.
  2. I’m yet to see a valid argument for why this logic holds any truth. Some, not necessarily all, of us bought game A. Game B comes out later on and some of the content from A is made available in B. We purchased said content in game A therefore we have paid for it forever more and we demand it is free. With respect, you nor I know how much time and resource goes into the refresh of the DR stages into DR2.0 so how can we comment on how much it should cost? There is an easy way to make your feelings known on the cost of the DLC - don’t buy it.

    Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack

Alright but you’re not ruling out an RAC style rally? 😁
  4. You’d better come up with a business plan to make DLC free for this nichest of niche games then

    Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack

@PJTierney will there be the option to do one single rally but with up to 24 stages through both Wales and Scotland, as per old RAC Rallies of the past? 😉

What’s wrong with fog? The only problem with it that I can see is we don’t get it in Wales 😁
  7. I’m not going to be able to contribute anything meaningful in a technical sense and most of my hopes for DR3 are mainly about car and stage content, so as that’s purely subjective I’ll leave those out. But there were a few things that bugged me about DR2.0, but still it had been the best rally game ever released imo. 1. Career mode should start you off in a ratty old Peugeot 205, not a priceless classic - the Fulvia. 2. Career mode should gradually increase the number of rallies per season. If it goes up to 9 that would be a good balance and still introduces some rally rotation to keep it fresh. 3. Some rules around when certain rallies fall in the calendar would add realism - starting your season on one of the snowy events, then round 4 is another snowy event makes no sense at all. I usually attempt to account for this by the internal commentator in my head saying “competitors were met with unseasonably cold weather as the Värmland Rally got underway in July” 😑 4. I would like to see your career follow a more realistic path i.e. your buy a POS old 205 riddled with damage and you can’t afford to buff out every last scrape and dent but after a few rallies you start to gain sponsorship and can then rent an R2 for example. After a good season you earn a works deal in an R5. This is just an example if you started your career in the current day, I’d also like to have the option to be fixed to a particular era - but perhaps this could be a new game mode, similar to the Historics mode, but you start with a year (let’s say 1992) and the cars available each year follow that timeline. 5. Apart from Sweden and perhaps Monte I’d like to see all manner of seasons available in each location as per Project Cars 2, including a light covering of snow. I imagine Sweden would need to be completely re-scanned to model it without heavy snow banks etc. and possibly the top of the Col de Turini would be the same, so that’s why the exception for those two. However being able to drive New Zealand and New England each in spring, summer, autumn and winter would be cool.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Really? Based on what info? If DiRT 5 is like that but we still get a DiRT Rally 3 then that wouldn’t be so bad...
  9. If you could take any rally location, resurface it with any road and re-skin the surrounding environment, all using existing DR2.0 stage components what would your ideal combination be? And where in the world would your fictional stage location be? My combo would be Hammerstein/Ruschberg with New England’s dark, smooth gravel and Wales’ forest and moorland. I’d set it in Northern England, the aim being that it feels like Kielder.
  10. Hurtling through Finland but with Monte road conditions sounds like a recipe for terminal damage 😂 Koryfi Dafni’s hairpins with Monte Carlo’s icy tarmac would be epic!
  11. But the question is: would you want just the snow, or the snow banks as well? Snow in Wales would be pretty awesome. I mean Monte-style snow without the snow banks 😉

    Best R5?

The Fiesta always seems a safe choice for me, but it looks old now that the Mk2 has come out in real life... The 208 has a nice distinctive sound but never feels particularly fast, the Polo similarly doesn’t feel like it’s that quick. I gave the SpaceStar my first proper go in a custom championship the other day - it was absolutely brilliant around a soaking wet Baumholder but I didn’t get to grips with it in Wales after that. Like the 208 it has quite a distinctive sound which I like. The one I keep coming back to though is the Fabia. It’s the best looking imo, has some half-decent alternative liveries (like the Texaco one) and feels like I’d be fastest in that if I put time into the set-up with it.
  13. Are there any plans for an in-game quiz on rally car nomenclature in tribute to @tbtstt and this brilliant thread? 😅

    Monza Rally Show stages

Yeah I understand all that but how would that translate to a computer game? I’m not trying to **** on your bonfire but I don’t see what enjoyment driving around a bunch of straw bales around Monza would give you... I could see this or something similar appearing in the next DiRT where multiple game disciplines is one of its selling points, but not in a DiRT Rally title.

    Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack

Given the context, the reference to “I will not be claiming my FREE DLC...”, and the pettiness of the complaint it’s pretty ruddy obvious this is a joke

Add NISSAN PULSAR rally car please

The turbocharged, 4WD, GTI-R? Yes please, we need some older Group A cars to fit in with the Legacy 👍

What i wish for next CM Rally game

I think the career could have been increased to 9 rallies per season. I hate some of the locations in this game so some rotation in the rallies each season would still be appreciated. Also some of them are quite clearly set in a particular season so some rules to when rallies happen would be welcome i.e. don’t start with Sweden then have another snowy round, Monte Carlo, as round 4 - it just doesn’t make sense - or New England is obviously set in Autumn so coming at the beginning of the season also doesn’t make sense. This could be sorted if the next game has all manner of seasons available at each location as per Project Cars 2. I’d like the career mode to offer some kind of privateer/works driver situation. So you start off in something cheap like an old 205 (not a priceless classic like a Fulvia!) and once you do a rally or two with minimal money start to get sponsors. You can go only so far as a privateer, buying or renting your cars and if a works team offers you a contract then you don’t have to worry about money so much anymore. But perhaps don’t want the team to fire you for crashing all the time 😁 If there were ways of making a domestic series you start your career in before going up to European, then World Championship that would be great too. At the moment we only have Wales and Scotland or Finland and Sweden to make it feel like a domestic championship, but you could always pretend one location is called something else - I do a custom championship where Baumholder plays the part of Epynt in Wales for my UK championship for example. I think some locations would lend themselves to being ‘re-surfaced’ as new rallies i.e. Värmland without snow, Baumholder but with gravel and Argolis with tarmac. Change a few things like the colour of the gravel, the thickness and tree type in the forest and it would feel a bit different to just ‘Poland with tarmac’ or ‘Spain with gravel’ etc. People would moan and demand it be free but I wouldn’t mind and think it would be pretty cool. Also if you could do a few local rallies alongside your regular season when you have a free weekend (and the cash to do it) would add to the realism.

    Monza Rally Show stages

Other than “This would be a relative easy creation of extra stages“ is there any other merit to adding these type of stages to this game?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

They were pretty slow due to being naturally aspirated, at least in BRC they were outclassed by the Sierra Cosworths in ‘87. Audi Sport UK switched to the massive 200 turbo quattro for ‘88, which was still not the class of the field due to it being a barge 😂 Just think, the modern day equivalent to the 200 is an Audi A6! But I digress, they still sounded pretty good as they had an inline-5 so I wouldn’t mind it being in a DiRT series game.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I think the first ones were Group 4. Closest thing to a Group A Quattro was the Coupe quattro (non-turbo, 4WD version of the B2 Coupe)

No Peugeot 307 CC WRC please, that belongs in the speedboat class

    Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack

@PJTierney what’s the price gonna be for non-season purchasers like myself? Is it worth me buying one of the seasons now (well, after payday) just to get that extra content on top of the Flat Out pack, or should i just hang on until March to buy it on its own?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

The non-555 branded Legacies of 1993 (specifically the blue SWRT ones) had this awful replacement of simply ‘SUBARU’ as the only times that the Legacy appeared in a country where tobacco advertising was banned was France - where the anti-tobacco laws are so strict even an image loosely based on the logo but not actually making reference to the brand name is not allowed - before it was replaced by the Impreza. So the swooshes/parenthesis/stars usually seen on non-555 SWRT cars never made it to the Legacy so it would look kinda disappointing 😞 Alternatively there’s Richard Burns and Alister McRae’s 1993 British Championship Elonex livery....
