The amount of fuel is only fixed when doing the practice programs. I assume cos its easier for the 'team' to work out the data from a fixed/known amount. If you leave the pits during practice without doing a practice program, you get the amount of fuel set in the setup screen. Why would the 'game' know how much fuel you want in qualifying? What if qualie was wet? I like to put 6 laps worth of fuel in and just lap to test conditions/dry the track etc. Its just habit to check the fuel amount before leaving on every qualie run. As for parc ferme - you can still change the amount of fuel, front wing and brake bias once youve left the pits/before the race start when selecting your strategy.

I never said I wanted to ban everything. I’m just saying that I understand why certain things are omitted from the game. Why do so many people leap to extremes? And where is the common sense, and understanding these days?
-
Wow. Thats... extreme. So just because things were done before, they can still be done today? Society has progressed (mostly). Cigarette money has been banned from F1. Alcohol advertising has been banned in some countries. Even up till the late 80s/early 90s, 'cigarette' sweets were being sold. Candy cigarettes, i think they were called. Weirdly, they are banned. Alcopops got banned in the UK as they were aimed at teenagers wanted to drink alcohol. Companies now have a social responsibility. And why would CM limit their market to 18+? Its all the kids that buy all them sweet sweet liveries/suits with (their parents) real moneyz. How about CM reintroduce actual slavery, since that was fine 100 years ago? Times have to move on. As an FYI, I started watching F1 when I was a teenager. I had no idea what Rothmans or Marlborough was back then. But then again no interwebs to do a search as you can do today.

As I said, its about permission....

New tracks in IRacing can cost about $12-$15 each. Some you get all the variants. Other tracks, like Nurburgring, the race track and the Nordschleife are separate purchases. these are all laser scanned etc. iRacing can charge that little because there’s a monthly subscription. how many copies of F1 and the dlc do you think CM would need to sell to break even for a new track, let alone make a profit. And let’s not forget the overwhelming response from the adorning fans: ”why did you do that **** track. You should have done <insert other track name here> instead. It’s faaaaaar better good.”

Very much like the liveries, I don't think its a question of work and resources - its about permission. OK, so it might take a lot of work and effort to go and seek permission, but thats the blocker

So because I don’t play online, I can’t have a safety car deployment that works? And I just need to deal with it?
-
So someone will be watching my offline games?
-
How about manual drive in the pits. Manual drive to grid position. Also, now I think about it - how about more than 2 seconds to find the right amount of throttle before a start

What would be the point? The amount of grief CM would get for implementing it would be unbelievable.... "The lions are too fast. No way could they catch an F1 car in real life" "Why arnt the lions catching the backmarkers? Why dont CM make them faster" "Why do the lions have manes? only the females hunt" "Where are the manes? These dont look like real lions" "I want the lions to have stripes. This lion had stripes added yesterday. I want it now...." But seriously, CM cant even get the safety car right, let alone programming in red flags? I would love to see the marshals push the car out of the way, or a crane lift it over the barrier. At least then we'd have a reliable safety car deployment system. Speaking of, ive still not seen a VSC in My Team. Ive had 3 safety cars and just starting my 3rd season. Comparing a red flag to a red card in football is like comparing apples and oranges. A yellow/red card in F1 is a black/white (driving standards flag)/black flag. If you want a football comparison, how about a red flag is more like a power outage during a night game. Or pitch invasion. A red flag would be interesting, but as a game - ive had enough safety cars/red flags during my racing i dont think i need any more stoppages during my virtual racing in my free time. Or should it be an option you can toggle on and off?

But, what if they dont want the sponsor in the game for whatever reason? maybe the sponsor doesnt want to be damaged when the car is hit etc? What if the livery is a one off - like the Ferrari F1000 livery. Would Ferrari give CM permission to put it permanently into the game? Probably not, as then the sponsors would not be displayed until that livery is changed back. As another example, there have been instances where a music act has refused the use of their music for certain politicians, or political parties. Yes, it might open them up to a new audience, or gain royalties from it but the artists have their reasons. The new liveries need the sign off from the content owners. It may seem like a simple thing, but there are so many 'behind the scene' reasons for everything, sometimes its not just straight forward and simple.

i dont understand how adding anything that isnt in cockpit view can 'add immersion'? Anything that isnt what the driver sees is an immersion killer, certainly for me at least. Unless the driver sits on top of the airbox - which i must have missed while watching racing all these years...

I’ve noticed (from the telemetry) that entering the pits put you in rich mode. And reverts back when you leave after the stop.

Low fuel runs and setups in My Team practice sessions.
dshepsman replied to halfblindgamer's topic in F1 Chat
not seen any of what youre describing. I usually get the low fuel run completed during the 'track acclimatisation' task. As for the setup, i do one run (eg 'track acclimatisation') on a setup - usually custom. Then change one setting on that setup (wing/camber etc) - it only needs to be one click up/down, then do another task - normally its the fuel run. Ive not tried it without doing any of the practice tasks. -
Im glad it wasnt just me having issues this event. I couldnt get within 5 secs of any other car. I just assumed it was down to Paul Ricard (which i dont like anyway) and just skipped it. It was not worth my time/effort/stress levels to try to complete it.

Does anyone else feel like DRS and slipstream are very ineffective?
dshepsman replied to Ewanoss9's topic in F1 Chat
slipstream hasnt been removed. It may not be as noticeable, but its there. The issue may be that the car in front has upped its engine mode, hit the overtake button etc. Also, the slipstream effect may not come into effect as early as previous games? -
It was fixed in 1.06. But will only take effect from the next time you change engines. I assume you’ve not changed engine supplier since the patch?

And this is why they release a new game every year... because we keep buying the latest and greatest. Why have the same game for 3 years making little to no money when you can instead add a few new features to the existing base code and charge people £50-£80 for the privilege. It’s business. It’s about making a profit.

I was just about to say the same thing. Just checked and aero is fine. The other depts have no bars... so I was only going slightly mad...

I dont go near online. All i play is career, and this time my team. I want to enjoy my spare time without some 12 year old getting upset/bored/whatever and ruining my game. The only time i enjoy multiplayer racing is IRL! and even then it has its... incidents/moments. Could it be that the online community are so vocal is because they are online?
-
Im sure i saw the 3 bars there last night when i played. Maybe if it was fully upgraded it was one bar - that might make sense
-
There is one. It’s under ‘Audio Options’. From memory you can have verbose, fewer, important updates only or off. cant remember the exact options but it is there
-
It can track all rivals: The Unknown drivers names populate (certainly for offline, not sure about online). And how much data you can get from online im not sure. Youll have to download it and see - i stick to offline
-
There is a difference between ready and compatible. You just need to read the bottom of the webpage if you need the clarification. Ive been looking to get the ps4 version, and i was really confused at first with all the options. I think ive got it all worked out - i just need the disposable income to actually purchase it...

Like i said, the base is xbox compatible. The steering wheel itself is not, as its PC/PS4 only. You can buy another (xbox compatable) wheel instead of the bundled one, and then you can use it on an xbox.
