    So my next question is...

If I have a lower downforce rating... can't I just use more downforce on my settings to compensate?

I would guess the answer is yes, but perhaps drag is also higher... once you get a downforce upgrade and a drag reduction upgrade I would guess downforce settings are more beneficial in total.

I think I just need to play more to understand what upgrades exist and what they do.

I think an analysis of the my team car qt start related to what each upgrade means would be interesting.

I play on PS4 so don't have access to the data directly.

What do you mean you don’t have access to the data directly on ps4?

if you go Into the R&D screen, highlight an upgrade and press the triangle (I think). It tells you what the upgrade does.
Eg spark plugs: gives a power increase.
And yes, if you increase wing values to compensate for a lack of aero upgrades, you’ll be slower down the straights.
if you don’t upgrade your engine efficiency, you’ll have to carry more fuel during and therefore heavier = slower.

  3. Do you mean the red line with white dots on it? If so, that’s the laps you just run.
if you mean the dashed line, that’s the expected tyre wear/lap time for the program.
If you failed to hit the time on one lap, you’d see your red line spike above the dashed line.

And looking at your tyre wear, you’re slightly higher than expected, so it will effect you race strategy- on the softs at least

Who cares about that you are tired of people wanting options in to the game ?! You are also one of the older games, who like to win races using Mercedes ... I want challenge, i want equal performance, i want to see different names on podiums (F1 Driver names, not F2). I want F1 to become more interesting, not Mercedes 90% 1. and 2. position. Yes in F2 might be always approx 5 or 6 drivers on 1. places, but comon in F1 we have 1 or 2 Drivers on 1. place xDDD I want to see Ricciardo on 1. place, no chance for that with realistic performance, i want to see Leclerc, Vettel on 1. place ... No chance for that with realistic performance. I want Perez, Verstappen , maybe Russel, Norris, Sainz on 1. place. There are a lots of good drivers in F1 , but we can see only Hamilton or Bottas on 1. place ... Why F2 races are more interesting then F1 races ??? What do you think ? Yes, because of equal cars 🙂

    Right, where to start...

first of all, read and comprehend what im saying...

I dont like to have the best car and win outright. That gets boring very quickly. I like to start at the back, work my way to the front and beat the best cars.

And in your scenario, you wont see Ricciardo, or whoever winning races because Lewis's stats are better (in theory) than everyone elses... so the same 4 or 5 drivers with the best stats will always win if they all have the same car (assuming no technical issues).... Thats the point im trying to make. F1 can be boring. I tired of watching merc/lewis run away with it. I want to see max fighting with the mercs. I want to see Williams and the Mclarens back at the front. But they arnt - because its F1, and not a spec formula.

As I said, ive racing in spec formulas. The BEST drivers are always at the front. But i was racing for fun, the experience and the love of racing... but you could predict who would be on the podium. In some races, even predict the podium places. You have to take a look at yourself and wonder how the other drivers are so much quicker than yourself. Is it setup? have they squeezed and extra 2 bhp out of the engine? is it just the experience?  Or is it the courage to brake that little bit later, get on the throttle that bit earlier/harder?

The point is, theres a pecking order - esp in a game where its all about data, and stats.

But anyway, its just my opinion. im clearly out of touch with the youth. and to be honest, i dont really care

I think you dont understand what i want ... maybe you have less brain then my golden fish.  I wrote that i want option with F1 cars EQUAL Performance in Single Player mode, not F2 ... I think that move has only positive side, because i think lots of people want to race with F1 vs A.I.  Equal performance cars.  I want to see sometimes Kimi Raikkonen win the race, or maybe Ricciardo, Perez, Vettel, Leclerc, Verstappen ... Now we see 90% Hamilton or Bottas if we play Grand Prix mode ... Yes i know it is a reality, but you know reality is boring in F1 ... If Codemasters want a good Grand Prix mode, they need to add more Customisation in that mode.

I understood exactly what you said. I was being a bit sarcastic. Maybe that didn’t come across that well. Or maybe you have less brains than my house plant and just like insulting people.

Maybe I’m just tired of people wanting every available option for every game instead of just playing the game they have. Or find a game that does what they want.
Surely the point of the career mode is to build a better car? But maybe that’s just me. I guess the cars are equal in multiplayer, but having the same car to me seems like just hoping in the merc and winning.
I’m going to assume the teams wouldn’t sign off of equal performance.
But again, this is just opinion of one older gamer.
And FYI, as someone who has raced in a couple of clubman one make series, I can tell you the same drivers always finish near the top.

And if you don’t believe me, just look at F2. If it wasn’t for the reverse grid, you’d get the same few drivers on the podium every race.

but hey, let’s throw the realism out of the window. I’m sure the ‘we need a Ferrari engine nerf now!!’ brigade will be outside waving their banners to agree, until the merc runs off into the distance  due to realism and not balancing.

You can’t please everyone. Not with a monopoly on a game.

I was going to suggest ACC, as the BOP more or less keeps everything equal, but I have a feeling I’d be met with ‘but I want f1!’

Man it's been a long time....I set up the Advanced Paddles for F1 2019 and never had to mess with it for 2020.  Do your top paddles work?  I recall that I had to fiddle with settings to F1 2019 to recognize those and after that everything worked.

Is that on pc or PS4?

PC version also doesn't need the outdated Kinect device.

By the way, when you say it doesn't officially support Series X, you mean that it runs in backwards compatibility (since now it's from last generation), right?

Because the game plays smoothly and even faster than before.

What UP100 means is that the game wasnt built for the Series X - meaning it still uses all the features of the current xbox, and not any of the features of the new one. The fact it runs, and runs well is a bonus

  8. What do you want to defend? If i understand you correctly, the mclaren is lapping you. if this is an online race, then i assume the option for ghost backmarkers is on -if its an option at all?

Why would you defend against being lapped? There are blue flags for a reason....

The max down it was, was maybe 40%,but then when a new lap started it was always back at 95-98%

So i had no issues running it all the time.

It happened after one upgrade mid of the season,i did not had it like this in austria for example.

I can check now the next races

The lap usage doesnt have a percentage on it. are you sure youre looking at the right usage bar?

  10. are you sure thats the case? You can only use a limited amount of energy per lap. So have you developed the ERS so much that the amount of energy used per lap doesnt use the full allocation?

@BarryBL just as a follow up I changed my controller configuration around so that the brake bias are assigned to different buttons and the glitch is cleared,  The paddle buttons that I tried to set brake bias adjustments were 60 and 61.  However when they were assigned to 12 and 8 the glitch did not present itself (as seen in the photo).

@dshepsman assigning your brake bias shortcut to a different set of buttons may also help you out until Codies can fix this issue. 659917897_controllerconfig.thumb.png.107a9e97b1a4a02a9fb00e4926c1aebc.png

Thanks for the info. I’ll give it a try.

Don't know about the electronics as I think they are automatically controlled in Casual Model

    oldmanracerNC

The electronics are an engine component. Like the turbo, MGU-K etc. You cant do anything to influence how the turbo or electronics work while driving. What i was meant about the electronics is that the more you bump over the kerbs, the quicker you will wear that component out. That in turn will increase how quickly the other engine parts wear out. Much like an overworn ICE or turbo will reduce your power output

  13. Thats the layout of the track. You need to learn the track, anticipate the corners and gradually work up to it. I dont know what else CM can do?

Maybe learn the track in an F2 car?

I'll tried so many diferrent setups and tried bit driver just coudn't done the last so I don't know why is happening to me

How are you struggling? if its not turning in, add a bit of front wing. If its not turning in quick enough, add front toe - or turn in earlier.

It really is a difficult track to get a setup for, as you need low downforce for the long straights. But then the last sector needs some front aero to help turn in. Plus the corners come up quickly. and mostly blind so takes time to get into the flow. Personally, i dont like it and avoid it where i can 😄

Yes balanced physics little bit much more precise and response

It sounds like you might need to change the setup of the car. Or drive a bit slower.

  16. What do you want changed? Change the physics of the game?

I don’t like the last sector either. I can’t drive Monaco either. I think CM should change Monaco - make it wider, with more straights

    😐

  17. Different parts wear out due to different factors. The Engine (ICE) wear faster due to high revving/overheating.
Electronics wear out quicker if you ride the kerbs constantly.
Also, high wear on the electrics wear the other components quicker.
Invest into durability in R&D to help.

It’s not the subtitle that is annoying, it’s that you can’t ask Jeff for updates about the car in front or in n the back bout penalties

Is that a bug? or just a feature thats not been implemented?

    Hello codemasters,

People posted so many bugs/glitches about this game, why arent they getting fixed? Is it because you are all waiting for the new xbox?

    Some of our bugs tonight:
    https://clips.twitch.tv/SavoryFaithfulSalamanderDeIlluminati

    https://clips.twitch.tv/SparklingCulturedCardBrainSlug

You guys have a contract with F1 for producing this game, this game in multiplayer is a complete disaster, people pay every year 50-70 euro/dollar or whatever and its getting worse every year.

So new (Online) 'bugs' are being discovered, but CM have not fixed them?? How dare they!!!

Its not like there are other bugs that have proper bug reports that are being ignored - just look at the patch notes. I mean, i know its game breaking that a subtitle doesnt disappear from an online game. I dont know how you can cope with that massive, game stopping issue.....

    Sheesh

I know what you're saying. i play some ACC and iracing as well.
But like many people i'm mainly into F1. and codies have become masters in abusing that. Besides. i like the handling and driving well enough.
It's the bugs (and penalties) that i think are way worse than they have any right to be in a 70 euro game.

I know. I agree. If it wasnt for Covid lockdown - and My Team, i dont think i would have bought this years game. Will i buy next years? i dont know. If i get a PS5, then maybe.

I dont agree with the pitpass. I dont like games that force you to play - even if it is for fortnight cosmetics. I want to play when i want/can and not feel i have to log in every day, or complete x amount of tasks in a limited time period.

Also Alfa Romeo can pass easily. like something pulling the car back. Maybe some setting but i dont know, i lost the motivation. In every straight everbody can overtake like i have broken fron wing.

In theory, a broken front wing might make you quicker in a straight line as there's less downforce.... (sorry, im being pedantic)

But it could be a number of things. What track are you seeing this on? It might be your setup. High wings = lower top speed. Low tyre pressure = less top speed. Higher ride height = lower top speed.

Also - how are you exiting the previous corner? A lot of people dont realise how much this can make a difference. If you the car behind you exits the corner 5kph faster than you, then they will catch/pass you quicker down the straight. Add in the slipstream effect, which you might not be getting benefit from.

One more thing, what AI setting do you have? Higher AI would have quicker laps times as well

It makes it more sad that the core game is actually good.
It just doesn't matter if the game is practically impossible to enjoy because of all the bugs.  In the end it's still broken.

I only play online and about half the races go to **** in one way or another.

If you only play online, then play iracing. Its a dedicated online racing sim. The handling is better, different cars and will improve your racing hand over fist.... I used iracing for 3 months before my first real life race in an mx5 at brands hatch. I got two top 10 finishes thanks to practice.

And in the long run would probably work out cheaper than buying F1 every year.
