They should enforce the rules to only cockpit cam to make it realistic. I use cockpit cam, unadjusted, and I can race on 105% ai on 50% races, and on a pad with no assists. I believe that if people can drive using cockpit cam, then the esports drivers should have no problem adapting to it.

Good lord. I hate it whenever the Medium or Hard tyre does not have any grip at the start of the race. Even though they show that tyre temperatures are within 85-100 degrees. The understeer, and sometimes the rear wanting to get lose is just crazy. I think starting on the softer compounds is more viable now compared to other games if you want to have decent grip at the start... Or pushing on the formation lap for tyre warm up..

I ran 1 front ride height and 4 rear ride height on My Team for the Vietnam race on 50%, and it felt comfortable on qualifying and race trim... I also had 11 on both anti roll bars... The car was unstable under heavy braking with change of directions, and I had to downshift slowly to prevent the rear from sliding. I did not want to change anything in the setup because it was able to extract laptime, as it gave me a lot of high speed rotation and great high speed change of direction. If you can seriously control the rear end of the cars, and prevent sliding, that is a massive advantage.

Somehow in My Team today at Vietnam, when the car was full with fuel, as I do 50% races, the car felt a lot more stable in comparison to qualifying. Particularly under braking, as the rear wanted to slide whenever I would brake heavily, and turn suddenly to carry a lot of speed into the apex. However, with a full tank of fuel, 28.5 laps, the car felt extremely stable, and I was able to get 6th place in the race.. Thanks to a retirement from Leclerc. During that race, I used a time trial setup, that I tested by driving as Bottas in Grand Prix mode and a 50% race. It worked well when I drove with Bottas consistently. Therefore, I decided to use that setup for my team, and it gave the same results. I just changed the tyre pressures, and it seemed to work fine for me, and I was using 11 on both roll bars... But yes, I normally adjust the suspension settings and tyre pressures depending on the track. Personally, I found out that changing suspension settings has had little effect on race pace, unless it is a huge change. For example, changing the fromt suspension from 11 to 1. Personally, it appears that changing my driving style has a larger effect than changing the setup. I tend to drive extremely differently in the race than in qualifying or time trial. I have never tried having offsets with rollbars. Maybe I should to see the effects... At first glance, I am not confident on the results of having a front anti roll bar on 8, whilst the rear is at 3.. I think stability could be bad with that... But hey, testing is always the best solution to see what works for you...

I really believe that changing driving style for the race is better than a change in setup. Unless, the race is in rain conditions. Brake earlier in the race, especially on 50% and 100% races, that should make it easier to hit the corners properly. If you are struggling with understeer while off the throttle, then lower the differential of throttle. I have mine at 50%, as that gives me the maximum rotation when I am off the throttle. However, this comes at the cost of making the car unstable while you are not on the throttle. Keep in mind that the differential off throttle cannot be adjusted unlike the on throttle differential. Therefore, you’ll need to find the correct balance. You can also increase the front anti roll bar a bit. If you are getting understeer while on the throttle, then you can increase the on throttle differential. Keep in mind that increasing the on throttle differential gives you a chance to get more wheelspin, unless you can control the input of the throttle to prevent that. By the way, is this in general, or for a specific track?

Soft and Hard tyres working, but Medium no? Getting the tyres to work.
Krisperfectline posted a topic in F1 Chat
This is weird but fascinating at the same time. I have done multiple races in Grand Prix mode at Australia in preparation for my team as Russell in the Williams. This is about tyres because at the start of the race, I have had no problems switching on the soft tyre to work, and in the first laps, I could drive without any problems. However, when I tried to start the race on Mediums and on equal condition, the tyre just does not switch on. I get understeer and I slide a lot with the tyre in spite of the tyre temperature being 85-99. This would go on multiple times and multiple tries for the entire first stint. However, whenever I decided to try to use the hards at the start of the race, after 4-5 laps, the grip would come, and I could drive without any problems like I would have on the Soft tyre. i was really surprised that I was able to switch on Soft and Hards better than the Mediums for the first laps that I really want to avoid the Medium tyre, as it felt like the Medium just had no grip for the entire stint, while the other two tyres were working fine. I have never had trouble with tyres in previous games, whether it is getting them to work or preserving them, but this came as a shock to me. I use a pad, and I ran 21.8 psi on both front tyre pressures and 20.7 for both rear tyre pressures. Any tips, or anyone encountering similar issues in terms of getting the tyres to work? Didn’t they say that 85-100 degrees is the working window temperature for the front tyres? -
Indeed. I play on the Ps4, and so far, I wish they could fix the time trial leaderboard. Sometimes the times do not show up. But thankfully, my times are recorded. I have only played grand prix mode and my team. In my team, I am at FP2 in Vietnam, and so far I have had no issues with the game. More customizations for my team would be great. I don’t see how is this game poorly made... so far.

This is a big shock, and I don’t think this philosophy is the way to go. I have only bought a few dlcs from games in the past to test and see how it feels for me to spend money. However, if a game has so many bugs, like F1 2015, they should go work on them as quickly as they can. Maybe all of us could tell them the reasons in buying F1 games? Or do they already know the reasons?

Does anyone know the effects of no comments for an answer to their questions? Sometimes Claire asks me something about having contact with the walls when we are at a track like Bahrain, where it is impossible to make contact with the walls... I normally do not comment as an answer for those..
-
Yes, particularly if you are behind another car. I recommend using rich fuel only on long full throttle sections, not on short ones.

If you play on a pad, controlling the throttle and brakes could be easier compared to driving on a wheel. If you want to practice throttle control, you can try driving on China, Vietnam, Italy, Austria and Baku. As the friends above stated, trail braking is quite important on this game, and with a lot of practice, it will come naturally to you. Those tracks listed above, particularly China in sector 1, has a tough and critical section where braking and throttle control are essential when trying to extract lap time and tyre preservation. Not only that, but turns 8–11 of that track also demand braking and throttle control. Vietnam can also be a good place, as the 1st section of the track in the first sector demands throttle control. The start of sector in Vietnam also demands good throttle control and braking. You can also try Canada, as that track has hard braking zones followed by hard acceleration as well, just like Austria, Italy and Monza. Just like the friends above, the sequence of - brake - relase the brake - turn - straighten the wheel - plant the throttle, is vital for extracting laptime and conserving tyres. It is highly recommended that you brake in a straightline and release the brakes in a straightline to avoid locking up. You want to input as little rotation on the wheel as possible while braking. I do not recommend hitting the gas pedal until you straighten the wheel completely, particularly on this game, as it is relatively easy to slide the car on gears 1-3. Once confident enough, braking while turning can be done. If you are also using Manual gears, then you can downshift slowly as well. Depending on the corner, I might use trailbraking, hitting the brakes fully, and then reducing the pressure before the corner apex, or I could go brake not at full pressure, and then when I am close to the apex, I would go closer to the full pressure.

This is extremely useful. I believe for Hanoi, you can get away with a low downforce setup, but you will need to get the lines right in the final sector, without stressing the tyres too much. A big thank you to you guys for making the track. It is so fun and satisfying to drive. How is Monza 5 on tyre stress? Is it because of the braking zones?

You can go higher pressures in many tracks? I tried to race a 50% on the default setup yesterday at Suzuka as a test in Bottas’ Mercedes, and the tyres were overheating so quickly, particularly both front tyres. After 3 laps on softs, the fronts were at 107 degrees. In previous games with default setup, I have never had issues at Suzuka when it comes to tyre wear. I guess now, we will need to balance them. I am not too worried about that. I mainly run the pressures two clicks or three clicks to the left of the default one since I am a pad user, and I will change them based on my feel. I am at Vietnam now in my team, and I will try to increase the front pressures by one click compared to my setup, as I have been keeping the front tyre temperature at 90-94 degrees during my tests with Russell in the Williams. It feels like maybe I could get away with more pressure at the front, as it would give me better grip, and the temperature increase may not be higher than 100 degrees. What shocked me even more, was that in Australia 50% race, I could not switch on the Medium tyre at the first stint of the race, and on the same conditions, I had no problem driving with the soft or hard tyre. Whenever I used the medium tyre, I would get understeer and I would be sliding for the entire first stint. Whereas on the soft or hard tyre, I could drive normally without any problems. For what track is this? Are you on a pad or on a wheel? Did you pit 3 times based on that graphic?

Lowering the pressures in this game is a bit too risky. Didn’t David Grecko said that lower tyre pressures give less temperature but more wear, while higher tyre pressures give more temperature but less wear. Therefore, by this effect, I think we need to find a balance in the tyre pressures, as it appears they are so important in this game. I normally do 50% races in preparation for my team as Russell in a Williams, and at time the tyres feel inconsistent, meaning that you have to keep them in the working temperature window. Today in my team at Bahrain, I had no problems with the braking and traction during FP2, which was held in dry and in night time. However, when I went into qualifying with same conditions, I struggled with the braking big time, and I could not brake well, which is absolutely crucial in Bahrain. I did not change the setup from FP2 to Qualifying, and it really caught me by surprise. In this game, you can get away with stiffer suspension settings in comparison to F1 2019. In regards to tyre pressures, I forgot. Less pressure: Better traction, less temperatures and higher wear. More pressure: More grip in high speed corners, higher temperature and lesser wear. Can anyone confirm if these pressure effects are correct?

I did a 50% race on 105 difficulty on the pad as Russell today at Melbourne in preparation for My team. I spent the first half of the race behind Latifi because of this. Not sure if my wing settings were to high, because I was running 6 on the front and 9 on the rear. I had to get extremely close, like 0.4 to get any chance of closing him down on the straights. I only got past Latifi when he pitted first, and I stayed out for another lap. Damn, is the dirty air powerful and it makes exit speed even more important now. Whenever I was behind Latifi, it was a lot easier to slide, and the understeer was insane. We need to get away from the turbulent air by taking a slightly different line to the car in front... Now, all those f1 noobs who keep hating on drivers know how does it feel to be stuck behind someone. I mean, after I got past Latifi, I finished 15 seconds in front of him and 10 seconds away from the next car.

I also use the same approach. I drive as Bottas in the Mercedes in Grand Prix mode, and I start from the back with Hamilton leading the race. Ideally, you would want Hamilton to be leasing without any damage, and you at the back. I don’t know what ndrst does, but I normally wait until the Ai are halfway around the racetrack, and then I start to drive. You would want to compare your times when you run in clean air. Obviously the best way to do that, is to have Hamilton leading while you are at the back, and with the same tyre compounds. It works pretty nice, and it is also fun, as you get to come theough the field. This works well for the first stint. After pitstops, the comparison could vary. But at least, this test has been great for me since F1 2019.

F1® 2020 | Driver Ratings Announced Part One
Krisperfectline replied to BarryBL's topic in General Discussion
This is correct because if it is an average then Hamilton is the highest followed by Vettel. Leclerc would be at 80 if we did the average. I am sure we will be getting more explanation on how the stats were given because some stats are quite controversial, mainly pace.. -

Is this real? Stroll has same pace as Raikkonen? You mean to tell me that one of the fastest guys in the last 10-15 years in his career has the same pace as Stroll? I get it Raikkonen is the oldest driver on the grid, but there is no way he should be level with Stroll on pace. Same goes for Sainz. -

Russell has been screwed over here. His pace is slower than Stroll, and Albon is just matching Stroll. In my opinion, they gave Stroll a lot of pace. They should nerf his pace to 80 or even below. Although this depends on how much impact “one point” has. If an additional point in pace gives like 0.3 seconds in lap time then that’s quite fair for Stroll in comparison to Perez. I expect Sainz to be near Ricciardo, maybe 86 or even 87. For Ferrari, that’s tough... I am interested on how much awareness they will give to them. If Verstappen gets 84 on awareness, then I expect similar for the Ferrari drivers. -

That awareness of Bottas! 99 higher than Hamilton. Russell and Ocon have slower pace than Stroll? Is this real? I believe Ricciardo’s racecraft should be even or closer to Verstappen. It feels a bit too low for Ricciardo based on the definition of the stat... What’s the logic of giving Bottas 99 awareness? I simply don’t understand if it’s based on the definition of the stat. -
LMAO They gave Stroll 83 pace!! Same as Albon. So Stroll’s pace is worse than Gasly’s? Is this real?

In my view they will need to balance it between an arcade and a sim. This means finding a balance between the mechanics. For example, if you are going to make tyre wear like in F1 2018 for Singapore and Monaco, and then the ai not having any effect on tyre wear, that destroys the fun. This year, you can drive Singapore and Monaco flat out without having to worry about the left front reaching 105 degrees. Of course, you could adjust the ai difficulty, but it seems quite ridiculous to reduce the ai difficulty because of that. Next thing, let us take more speed into corners without having to use high wing settings, and let us match the gears used by the current drivers in the real world. Like, using 1st gear? Drivers dont even use first gear unless it is at the start or extremely unique situations. But for a hairpin to get the front turn in? In addition to that, slipstream and Drs is overpowered in this game. Or at least make the dirty air more powerful because it is almost impossible to create a gap if the performance is similar, and you might as well stay behind and wait for the last lap, and overtake the car in front. Save all the ERS, and just deploy overtake and DRS. I get it that the slipstream and DRS is supposed to be powerful due to the bigger wings, but we should not be able to stay within one second of a car for fhe entire race that easily... There is a lot more that can be added, but codemasters need to find the balance between simulation and arcade. However, we do want to get closest to the real life, don’t we? Or make a game that has both settings or mechanics so that we can choose what we want.

General Handling as official F1 series
Krisperfectline replied to Exodium's topic in General Discussion
This is the dream for die hard F1 fans. I wish this for F1 2020 no matter how hard the game it is to play... -
I wish this game was more simulation than arcade. I’d rather pay 100 euros/pounds for a game that gives us the best experience than one that does not.
