  1. I've only glanced at the items, but this is very useful information indeed. I just need to understand the theory behind the setups in order to create my own.  Mentioning which  tracks require certain settings is also very vital information.  Very helpful posting, at least to me, indeed!

  2. As of this posting, and with 143 views, I presume that the culprits have made note of my game-tag and are ensuring that I cannot enter a multiplayer session....GRRRRRRR...to say the bloody least. Can't Codemasters management do something about this clandestine abuse?!!! I cannot enter a multiplayer session as of this posting!!!!! There are some pretty vindictive ******** out there for sure!

  3. In this race I started last (9th) due to track cutting and had 1204 points.  Now look at the finish and the skill lever of those I came out ahead of - one of them is solid gold for Pete's sake!   Now why in the world would I loose 7 points at the end of this race? When in a previous race I racked up over 20 points and I was ahead of just one full slate silver skill level?? Is someone purposely messing with my points in multiplayer mode?!  This has been happening for quite some time now and needs to stop immediately ! Don't you folks have nothing better to do with your time??!!!  PLEASE!!!!

  4. Celebrating or not, I would like to extend a very Merry Christmas to all anyway, and wishing you all the best in 2020. This year saw Codemasters introduce their best F1 game to date and we all look forward to another amazing iteration of F1 2020 - bug free of course (just a prayer - LOL). It's been a pleasure folks!  Enjoy the very sweet Christmas music so fitting to the occasion.

  5. What most folks don't understand about manual gears and why it's essential to manual shift during any racing event is how the RPM works. Each gear in a car or race car increases in revolutions per minute with the end to get optimally to as close to redline as possible,  where the engine's MAXIMUM HP and TORQUE are reached just before hitting redline. If you use the up-shift beep in manual mode, each beep represents the engine's max hp and torque at this point in the gear range.  This means that in 1st gear, if you shift manually and get as close as possible to redline, you've just squeezed out the maximum HP and Torque from the engine and that's power on tap for each gear. In addition you can hold that power for as long as you like by keeping the meter hovering near redline. Automatic shifting doesn't get as close to redline as possible even in an F1 car. In addition to squeezing out maximum HP and Torque, you have the benefit to downshift to the power gears (2 and 3) for some serious corner exit speeds. Again, something you don't have access to with manual shifting.  Remember in each gear you get to reach a car's maximum power by getting as close to redline as possible, and this is the fun factor and control you gain over a race-car when you shift manually - enjoy the benefits, but it will take some time to get acclimated to.

Here's a video of how the ingame blinking rate of the Red Backlight is being shown by CM during wet weather conditions, basically it is the same rate throughout the whole lap, which is wrong if compared to irl footages:

The blink rate isn't off by that much compared to IRL. It's something they should try and adjust in 202 to include making sure that ERS of this hybrid is doing what it's supposed to do in a very game efficient manner.

    Hi @krake61

Just wanted to point you in the direction of https://www.f1carsetup.com/index.php?/forum/407-f1-2019-setups/ Not sure I’ve copied the link quite right but you can find it if you go to the setups section and look for @Soupy1985 posts.

This site is a godsend!! I use a wheel now but a great persons setups to use for pad is Styx50. His are really great.

My PS4 is in the lounge too but I use a Playseat Challenge, it’s foldable and goes behind the sofa to keep the wife happy! Out of sight out of mind!!

Keep persevering and practicing, and not being funny but who cares what level you play or what assists you use? As long as you enjoy the time you play that’s all that matters!!

    Good luck!

Thanks! Just what the doctor ordered!

  8. OK the votes are in. I installed the game, played for a while and didn't care for it one bit. Why? For one the steering didn't respond well to the tilt function of my iPad as it does in RR3 and I found the car understeering major. Also for the 5-10 minutes I played the game, my iPad heated up on the backside like crazy, meaning that there was just too much overuse of the processor for such little visual and auditory haptics.  I finally uninstalled the game and may return to it at some later time. But for now, it's Real Racing 3 baby!

  9. Ok, I finally got my new 7th gen iPad that allows me to evaluate this game as I’m an avid RR3 player from day one. I’ll have my comments after a few days with this game🏎

The optimist in me would say that this is possibly good news, as Codemasters will get a chance to bring in new ideas and talent to a stagnating copy-paste franchise.

The realist in me is saying that they just bought off competition, so they can get away with even less than before.

I would say that they're serious about going head to head with the leader of the sim racing pack, Forza Motorsport! A daunting challenge indeed, but with some hard work and innovation, it is possible for Codemasters to put their collective talents to bear and create one hell of a sime racing game, outside the F1 series.

Funny thing this, now we can go down on two companies in one forum. But seriously; before this news every company besides Codemasters was capable of doing a better job at the F1 franchise but appearently SMS isn't fit for the job too. Before judging I believe this can lead to a good thing. Lets just wait and see were this will lead to before making all kind of assumptions. BTW, I did like both versions of Project Cars. The first took a lot of work to get the FFB working, which was once working a lot better than the second edition. Graphics are great and both games offer a lot of disciplines. I still have a lot of fun with both games.

Well I judge based on the crappy game they put out that everyone is claiming you have to be hardcore to appreciate. OK, be it so. So I turned off all assists as I'm accustomed doing in all major racing games, and you simply cannot control the cars. I even tried very hard to appreciate the game over a period of over a month and finally came to the conclusion that the game is not properly coded and that the developers lack knowledge of certain basic principles. I finally uninstalled it just like I did PC1 and will never approach it again. **** driving game totally!  Hardcore, not in the least! Unfinised coding - SURE.  So as long as Codemasters rename the bloody thing!

If they don't improve on handling, physics and track accuracy now, especially after acquiring SMS who are miles ahead of Codemasters in these departments, then Codemasters will have successfully shown that they are lacking aptitude big time.

Next Gen titles will show what direction Codemasters takes, by being:

1: Medium quality copy&paste, heavily casual, products, with the official licences being the sole gimmick feature to appeal to the masses as the game itself is bland without it.

2: High quality revolutionary simulator / simcade products, that don't need the official licences as a gimmick just so that the game can be sold because the gameplay itself is so good that people would buy it anyway.

3: Mobile games and Pachinko machines, because the fanbase doesn't matter. (Seriously, i hate KONAMI).

4: A Rinse&Repeat of what we have seen over the past 10 years, so no dramatic changes are to be expected and no improvements as well.

Whatever Codemasters decide to do, it's a make or break situation for the Next Gen titles on the PS5/XboxScarlet.

In theory, Codemasters should benefit quite dramatically by having SMS as seasoned sim experts onboard.

    Time will tell.

How do you figure on this one. SMS Project CARS is an joke, and a complete waste of time. I have this down as the worse racing game ever produced, and I know my racing games, as these are the only types of games I play.  If anything the producers of the pinnacle of the motorsports will have more than a thing or two to teach this very wet-behind-the-ear studio.  I have Project Cars Two (and One) and uninstalled the thing for lake of descent physics in tires and car handling. How can you produce a game and say it's geared towards wheel users only, paying only scant tribute to controller users?! Duh! Some claim the game is packed with advanced physics and is aimed at hardcore users; I beg to differ. The game is a complete flop in all directions that's why they had to give it to up to a stuido that can pump some life into their complete lack of how to programe game physics, espeically wheel to tarmac interactions.  Plus they simply didn't have the budget to produce another third-tier failure that would have been Project CARS 3.  I look forward to seeing how Codemasters improves on this fledgling game.  Andy Tudor made a great face saving move here, for once!

  13. I don't see the need for this. The current option to remove the center piece from the halo, which obstrucuts the view of cars farther down the tarmac, especially in the rain, is sufficient. I had made this same case sometime last year for an option to make the halo invisible, but it was shut down my the Codemasters, who instead opted for the removal of the center stack only.  Try as you may, you'll get nowhere with this request.  I'm totally comfortable with the removal of the center stack, as the remainder of the halo in that configuration doesn't bother me at all.

Update: Also sine the game emulates physically based materials, it's impossible to make Titanium in a simulated environ, as in the real world.  Also, I believe the FIA has to sign off on this stuff and they didn't go for the transparency option. Again, the removal of the centerstack is OK for cockpit view.

  14. Guys/gals - F1 today uses NO assists. I think the goal of everyone using this game is to come as close as possible to the real experience of what it is to drive an F1 car.  This means you should not be using any assists and be shifting manually and using manual starts where you hold down the clutch and release it as the lights go out - this is F1.  Is this easy, NO. Is it rewarding, YES and more so!  Stick with this recipe and you're on your way to being truly a real F1 driver.
