Most on here will say hardcore because they are hardcore. But this place represents probably less than 0.1% of the userbase so its not really a good test of what gamers in general want. I would say both :) So Ludwig’s solution would be a good one? Proper Sim handling and great stages, with a suite of optional assists or a gamer mode like D4, to make the game more accessible to all? It seems to be the best way to cover all bases?

So if Codies are doing the next WRC, should it feel DiRT 4 or DiRT Rally? Should a WRC branded title be approachable or hardcore?

Ever get the feeling theirs an Oriental Spam bombardment coming?? Look at the ‘Members Online’ section

I Hope Kylotonn do WRC 8 to be honest. They had ‘got’ the ethos of rallying with WRC 7, the FFB just isnt there yet, but the stages and handling were definitely convincing. Codemasters can bring us DiRT Rally 2, and all the Historic & Group B insanity that wouldn’t be allowed in a WRC title no doubt. That way, we have 2 great rally titles to enjoy!

Runs out next May. It looks more like they did an update than a renewal

Nothing like killing the Gossip speculation momentum there RCM... lol

I Can’t believe you don’t feature the Matthew Wilson Tunnocks Fiesta in any on the games....

Do you think there actually is 8 shamrocks on the pic, & if so, do you actually think 8 was purely randomly selected number between 1 & 10?? WRC 8 confirmed... Whodunnit????
-
You mean they aquired WRC license but decided not to take advantage of that and released it under Dirt franchise? No, I don't think so. No. Regardless of how early they aquire the license, they can’t release a game until the finish of the old contract. For all we know, the license was granted 2 years ago, but the release date of the first Codemasters WRC game would have always been the year after the release of WRC 7 & the closing of the Kylotton license. Hence, DiRT 4 as a little hobby side-project
-
What if they’ve been working on WRC all along though, & DiRT 4 was put out just to fill a gap?
-
Neah, they posted a DiRT 3 throwback last week too...

What if I’m in my grans field at the time and there just happens to be a Rally passing by?? lol

I got a drone last month, I’m looking forward to taking it to a Rally!!

WRC 7 rubbished the 3 or 4 short stages per location theory. Some of the longer ‘Epic’ stages for each location were fantastic. They also had real-life areas stitched into the stages that you could clearly recognise from actual tv footage. Someone mentioned older drivable cars instead of the ‘on rails’ WRC cars. Have you watched a WRC round? The car movement is phenomenal with 4 wheel mental powerslides everywhere. I’d like that...

So then, Would people actually prefer WRC 8 or DiRT Rally 2?
-
Surely WRC license renewal doesn’t just come up for grabs on the last day of the old contract. For continuity, it’s likely discussed and tendered months/years before its lapse. Could work have started on it months/years ago, with DiRT 4 (repeating tiles based stages) thrown out as a gap filler? They’d effectively have been tied to the WRC 8 release date being late 2018 even from day 1 of the Kylotonn contract starting? Hmmm....

They couldn’t not be doing SOMETHING?? Not after D4. It’s not the game you put your feet up after, is it? Do the DiRT guys have any involvement in that OnRush carry-on? Id be ultra-frustrated if that’s what they have all been doing since DiRT 4 :/ I’ll say it again, this Radio silence is really really worrying. Someone must know something???!

One things for sure, the forum is up and running again!! I haven’t been on in ages as the Gossip thread was pretty stagnant but boom, hype-train is back on track - choo choo!!! lol
-
I personally will be kinda disappointed if the current guys don’t get to do WRC 8. For me, WRC 7 was just one development cycle & a few tweaks away from being a really first class title. The stages were equally as impressive as the DiRT Rally ones. Codemasters raised the bar & other titles were responding

It looks like the official cars will be modded in (possibly a way to avoid license issues?).

real life 2020 FIA World Rally Championship
KevM replied to Fedemaisonnave's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Meeke overdrives to keep up. He’s fast buts he’s always at 11 tenths. Ogier is in his opponents heads and can control a Rally. He can lead from the front, or pressure from behind -

I dunno about Meeke being in a rut. He still placed above someone as talented as Loeb. Both of them suffered unintentional time loss, sometimes its costly, sometimes it isn’t. Ogier though, he’s a different type of driver. He drives with his head. Keeps safely within reach & then capitalises on the inevitable mistakes of the other drivers. He’s tactical & clever -
In FB today, they posted images of recording audio for an Aerial Atom, 2 drift cars and a single-seater... Hmmm??

What’s all this about?
