Teammate became faster in Career Mode ???

Sorry you're right it should read NEW CAREER not season. There is a more drastic way to still have fun although it's not exactly legitimate! I'm sure you found that most races start with Ham on pole and you 2nd. It's pretty easy for you to push him off the track at the first corner so he loses several places. The race will then be exciting as you see him move up the field and try to catch you up. It's really silly of course and I got bored doing this after a few races and quit playing. I had this exact same problem with both 2017 and 2018, as career is my main mode it's why I didn't buy 2019. At least now I know that skipping practice entirely is a good workaround and seeing as I know the tracks inside out it makes the game quicker too! You might have to run the fuel or tire sim though for more race strategy, although tbh it doesn't really matter that much. Experimenting with different tire strategies can be be a lot of fun and challenge instead of just doing what your team recommends.

Well pointed out! It's refreshing to read a new proposal instead of the same ones over and over!

I've seen it used in flight sims for many years. I'd be interested to know how comfortable it would be at high speeds. Whether there is a nausea factor during long sessions. Please keeo us posted!

Teammate became faster in Career Mode ???

It's not a bug, it's just a design issue that the testing team almost certainly didn't test beyond the 2nd or 3rd season or else they would have spotted the problem. In another post I suggest ways to get round this but not in your current career. You can't undo upgrades. Your career is over unless you lower the ai so it's just you vs. Ham with everyone else several seconds behind. If you start a new season you can delay and probably avoid this situation completely by ignoring practice sessions entirely or NOT spending approximately half your upgrade points (simulation of practice sessions gives you approx half the points available I believe). Your team mate will destroy you otherwise whoever they are. Mine was Gasly and he was unbeatable too at normal ai levels. I think I can confidently state that whoever tested long term career mode ONLY used simulated practice sessions and did NOT grind for maximum points like most of us do. Their assumption was probably that most players wouldn't have the patience to grind the same practice sessions over and over each season for 10 seasons. This would explain the problem entirely. Whoever did the testing was probably not your average rpg loving gamer, as it's endemic in gaming to ALWAYS want to maximize performance as much as possible to become as powerful as possible. This isn't really a problem with other teams as you can raise the ai when your car becomes Uber powerful compared to theirs. You can't change your ai team mate from murdering you though. Not a bug, just a design issue. Easy way to solve this would be to allow players to adjust the ai of all drivers separately with an individual slider. This would also be a lot more interesting as you could update driver ability to reflect the real world as well. Codies please add individual ai sliders to fix long term career!
  5. lol you summed it up perfectly. The F1 game does look much better than iracing. Well the cars do I mean, if you can forgive the tracks and actual racing. Going from F1 game to iracing will be a shock at least until you start driving, you'll be too busy with all the important stats on screen you'll be needing about your car and the session to even notice the backgrounds. Oh and too busy keeping the car on track too.

Carnage / Destruction Derby Online Mode for F1 2020

Dangit man wish you could have recorded it. I've been wondering forever what a clean race looked like!

    Highlights in 2020

Quite possibly F1 management won't allow it for worry people will start uploading thousands of online races online diluting the real races they sell to subscribers. No wonder why there are so many copyright strikes for people uploading F1 game videos. I really hope this is not the reason though.
  8. Actually make that more like 50% and you might be closer. But like you say it's not all bad. After all 50% of something excellent is still pretty good. If you are watching the abundant current online pro/eraces on different platforms its blatantly obvious which platforms stand out. Iracing and rfactor 2 quite definitely match the real thing enough to suspend disbelief an feel immersed. The F1 game just looks like a lot of arcade cars buzzing around the track. The F1 game was NOT designed for serious pro competition though, iracing was. I just watched the F1 esport interlagos race with quite a few F1 drivers taking part. At no point did it look realistic but obviously much FUN was being had. Lando kept asking what were the leaders lap times because inexcusably you can only see the guy in front and behind in the timings. Crucially LeClerc in the 1st 3 was wondering put loud who had what penalties, which was vital info, because there was no quick and easy way to find out. The out of their depth YouTube guys were out in their place and lapped by half way (remember all these cars have the same performance). Everyone was running auto ers because......manual is just silly..... Jeff was on LeClercs case the whole last 5 laps telling him to box box box even though he was fighting for first place with Alex Albon the whole time and they were passing each other each final straight. However, like I have already hinted at, nobody cared. This was not a serious race. The driving was clean except for an appalling start where carnage was your typical online lobby but then it cleaned up and there were many interesting battles. Well worth the hour it took of my time. I watched on twitch switching streams between LeClerc, Van Doorne, Lando and Jimmy B. At least the latter displayed respect for the company he was in and accurately predicted he would be moving backwards during the race. LC had 20000 viewers, Stoffel had 450. Was almost like sitting with him as the chat was actually readable. Apart from the lack of information I have already mentioned (which would be unforgivable in a serious race) nobody was whining about the F1 game and as soon as it was over Charles, Alex and George Russell (all in top 4 last half race) started chatting and saying how much fun it was. There is quite definitely a place for a simplistic race game where all the tech stuff can be ignored and you just race, with no chance of an engine blowing up mid race. It's only a shame that our F1 sport with its high tech background and intricate cars happens to be that game, but meh it is what is, at least we have other games if we want to get more realism. Right at the end before I left the boys were still talking and someone said next race Barcelona. Let's go over to Assetto Corsa then. Then they were arguing that even though the experience would be better there were so many F1 drivers coming into the F1 game itself now that if they practiced something else they'd be at a disadvantage. Interesting point there! Oh and before I forget every driver used the horrible tcam view, arcade for sure. It didn't matter this time though as it wasn't a serious race plus of course it wouldn't have been fun for the YouTube guys (except maybe JB!) Finally the only major shortfall for me in the game as it's dead basic spectator modes and lack of stats. I couldn't watch the official broadcast for more than a couple minutes because the race looked external views looked and sounded total arcade and those announcers and their ridiculous over enthusiasm... Ugh! "With the line up as quality as this we are in for an absolutely fantastic race!!!" "Yes it's certainly guaranteed to be awesome from start to finish what a race we have for you!!!" Bye.. Bye.. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜œ

    help f1 2020 split-screen

That could make seating position for local play interesting! Would be easiest for of users to be just given a resize able window they could place anywhere or drop onto a second monitor. Lack of rigid window control would cause performance issues though. Be very hard for Codies to test and also guarantee user performance for. 2 consoles in the same room or 2 pcs would be even better. Which could lead to party rooms with the possibility of large groups of people paying for a 2 hour session where they could all team up and race. Be great for parties and work coop sessions. I think though we are running away with the forward thinking here, we're gonna get one new added feature a year maybe and better be grateful for that! This is an area I'm confident that Ian Bell and his SMS team would work wonders for.....

100 % here too, I didn't know about the mid session save issue. I still think we should have a manual highlight function where we press a button or button combo and the last 5 or 10 seconds of game play is added to the highlight reel. Be fantastic for multiplayer too. Got shunted and penalized? Save the incident instantly for review after. Iracing has an auto highlight setup where after the race you can watch every single incident in the race and review it. I don't play myself I seen streamers do it often. It seems to save both collisions and spins. Both give you rating hits so you'd definitely want to see why after, a great feature. I want it!

    help f1 2020 split-screen

Absolutely and rightfully so too. Split screen, local or remote, coop championship, again local or remote, would be a killer feature both for casuals and serious racers. It would breathe new life into the game and give a major esport boost in interest. After all there is a huge demand and supply of non racing online squad based games. If this could be injected into league play too somehow it would be GAME ON big time. To be able to select first of all your teammate, get synced up then select a league or gp race to join would be fantastic imo.

Carnage / Destruction Derby Online Mode for F1 2020

The problem with that is most idiots get their fun by ruining the experience of others. It's sad but a modern malady we have to live with. They are the equivalent of forum trolls but in a race car capable of much destruction. If there is a dedicated demolition derby mode they will be bored by that as nobody cares about being shunted in there. Like in dodgems/bumper cars. These people will seek out the cleanest looking race they can find and have a field say in there instead. It's a real problem not to be ignored and Codies should employ a safety mode/license to at least try and separate clean from dirty in random lobby situations. In project cars you can specify the minimal safety level of racers in the lobby. If you like racing on your own that is... ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ™„

HUD for replays in F1 2020

I agree the whole replay system needs an overhaul. Would make esports and serious leagues more popular too. It's a great way to learn from your mistakes too as well as learning from better drivers how they succeed. Got your butt handed to you recently? Watch the race from the winners cockpit and find out why! ERS and fuel mapping displays as well as tire temp and wear would be invaluable.
  18. The game was never designed to be a Hardcore sim or serious online racer. Esports series are really there just to publicize the game not the IRL series. Much as I'd love a totally new realistic experience that would take 2 maybe 3 years of new development. Just not possible within a yearly cycle. Plus even if a new experience was released unless it could be optionally configured in the menu to handle very similar to previous games then a whole mass of the casual main market for the game would be up in arms saying its too hard. Just look at project cars 1 with a controller. If you could complete a single lap without crashing you'd be in the minority. If a game designed for a mass market of gamers, many of whom have never even driven a car in real life, is not immediately accessible then it won't be played either. We NEED that mass market of casual gamers to put up the money to finance a game of this importance. It's only natural, albeit depressing, that those people should have the game tailored to their needs not ours. The best we can hope for as realism seekers is getting relatively minor portions of the game nailed down so we can play amongst ourselves and still enjoy the experience. Such as a realistic and functional cockpit view with all info easily accessible and immersive, an online clean experience that allows like minded racers to race with each other instead of making us all swim in shark infested waters, a fully working and realistic safety car, more variation and accuracy regarding setups. Let us tweak the car however we want even if it becomes undrivable. We can always reset! No reason not to allow us to tweak the car so the handling is to our liking, whether or not it's rule conforming. Just allow separate lobbies for setup users. These changes would definitely bring more real life drivers to the table along with their engineers. Codies don't need to write a whole new game, just allow far greater customization and car tweaking. Easy to drive, hard to master would be a good goal.

    F1 2020 - Engine Sounds

Well spotted! If they indeed did do that then Codies would be well within their rights to ask for raw copies of the modified audio and then use it themselves in the next game. The dev quite definitely owns all the assets within a game as well as any assets altered by 3rd parties. No need to be litigious either. Good job mate we'd like our assets back now please mate. Or just give the guy a job!

    F1 2019 trial PC

That's technically true but many major devs have no problem doing it. If you release the whole code with just a restructured menu leaving the underlying game modes intact then yes it's definitely possible to get them to run. If you remove just a little of the code from the top level game mode functions then it just won't work. A library without a librarian or indexing system is not a library at all. It's just a pile of books. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜. I'm not bothered either way whether there should be a demo or not. It's not like the old days where if devs didn't let magazines include demos nobody would even see a game. We can do everything except actually push the buttons ourselves to evaluate modern games.

    F1 2020 - Engine Sounds

As the saying goes the proof is in the pudding? Who cares what ingredients you used and how you prepare them if someone else's cake just tastes better? Of course you can't just record a car on TV then paste the audio over a dim car. There has to be a lot of separation so that you are actually recording the sound each gear makes then join these together seamlessly to create a realistic overall sound that's in sync with the actual driving. If that WAS 'borrowed' from TV footage I'd love to know the source as they did a fantastic job not only with the gear syncing but the audio equalization too. Just because you have been doing the same thing year in and out doesn't mean YOU should KEEP doing it forever. I personally welcome original outside input. It's like letting someone else do all the work and take all the risks yet everyone learns from it. I'm sure Codies sound engineers are doing exactly what they were assigned to do. Professionally too no doubt. Maybe after the next game has been released Codies could actually poll all their customers to find out exactly what their user base want to hear while racing? Providing say 3 clips and asking for votes would be easy to do. Doing the same thing for lots of game functions would be very interesting. What do people look for in the next game? The forums are mainly populated by us die hards and the occasional newcomer. Some world wide polling where everyone who has a game code would be very revealing.

    F1 2019 PS4 - DS Controller Gyro

Ironically the scaled down mobile version of F1 2019 DOES allow you use your device to steer by tilting. Seeing as the whole view rotates as well it's pretty disorienting to use. A dual shock version would be a cool extra option to offer. Codies, If you DO add it to the game please don't make it faster than the wheel or pad. There's enough disagreement over that as it is! ๐Ÿคฃ

That's true but there is so much footage available from the game not to mention many streams on twitch or YouTube to assess how it plays its only your personal equipment that really matters and then only on pc as consoles are pretty predictable.

I am real P****d with this!!!

True, network bugs are really tough to find as so many different people are involved.... You'd need logs from everyone to find every error. For instance not many people get disconnected from a race or lobby where it's only them involved. So video is even more important especially replays as they study other cars too. If you could only save the whole replay and watch any car you wanted leading up to an incident. Not much use being able to watch if you can't save it only capture it as then you only have the car on screen to diagnose. maybe Codies could 'borrow' the replay system from pcars /Ana now they own them!
