General Handling as official F1 series

Nothing can be said to be certain except death, taxes and T-Cam in F1 games. 🙄

    Languages

Have you checked in the main game options? It's usually top menu so easy to find. Audio is still English but you get subtitles in your language from memory.

    Barry for president

Agreed, I get the impression that Bazza is not just 'one of them' but also 'one of us '. Apologies for efficianados of the English language but NO double entendre was intended here!
  4. Another major reason to take over a company is to STOP competition in its tracks. Instead of being embarrassed by a smaller company doing a better job with some of their assets you take over the company and take those assets for yourself. Or discontinue those assets as they don't fit in with your project plans. Project Cars for example had the cars, tracks and weather nailed down but contained in a poor package overall, with a poor career mode that just connected a series of different races together. I dont think well ever see another public released sim from sms now, except maybe in the corporate sector as has already been mentioned as a goal. If a developer buys out ALL its competition it no longer needs to even try to improve its own project. In this case though there is no reason why track licensing and creation that is already completed cannot be assimilated into future F1 games. If it isn't then what a lost opportunity that is.
  5. The game isn't designed to be realistic but to LOOK realistic at first glance to the major market, the casuals. During the design phase proposals are made for improvements and they have to be able to rake in more sales or they don't get implemented. Slightly better reviews don't pay the bills! If the main market was simmers they would have done it already because that market demands accuracy. Simmers will buy the F1 games anyway as they don't have any other choice. So from the business stand point alone it makes no sense to spend thousands on laser tracks. So what if some drivers complain? Only a few people will see that or even care. It won't be headline news especially now. Personally I'm OCD for accuracy so I just don't buy the game (although I will gladly test it and offer suggestions). I'm just one person though with only a handful of others caring the same as I do. You're not gonna get thousands of casuals refusing to buy the game because some of the kerbs ain't in the right place. Sad but true, it's all about making the most money from the least effort and keeping serious criticism to a minimum.

Codemasters beating your expectations with F1 2020 title

Without the original tracks and all the cars and drivers they competed with its just a sprinkle of icing on a non existent cake. Are they going to do this on the cheap EVERY year in lieu of either ambitious new ideas or a fully fledged bonus? I'd give my 60 bucks now to race a full season in the nineties or oughties with modern graphics and all the classic cars and engines screaming around you. They should release full classic seasons as fully fledged dlc with everything from the Era included for immersion. Why does it have to be just a dream? https://wtf1.com/post/8-of-the-best-sounding-f1-engines-ever/

Fishy maybe yes but Codies no. If you actually read all the blinding praise there is one line in the middle saying I HOPE CODIES FIXED THESE THINGS. it's not in caps I just did that so you wouldn't miss it...unlike the OP lol

    F1 2020 Beta

Me too! I treated it like I would have treated the same question on a job application form! In fact all that stuff is still in my profile so quite possibly I will just use the exact same 'essay', as nothing has changed much for me since last year except doing extensive project cars diff/brake tuning work and publishing the results. Whole different kettle of fish though that is!

f1 2019 ballast rules and going forward to 2020

Absolutely true. It was removed for technical accuracy but no attempt was made to address the resulting handling issues like would have been done IRL. You don't hear Mercedes say "oh dear the new rule change makes it harder for us to tweak driver preference let's do absolutely nothing to try and get round that.." 🤔😎

    F1 2020 Beta

@UP100 Interesting read about the quality of beta testing. I dont think today's QA testing bears any resemblance to the testing of say 20 years ago when the mantra "it will be ready when it's ready" was still common in the industry. It seems more on par with limited access than a high quality test phase. Almost like the way movies are shown to preview audiences to guage reactions towards the end of production. I believe they are looking for either a) major glitches that have been missed during development as they require a certain number of players before they become noticeable and b) minor issues that are already known about by devs that might not actually be an issue for the general public. I DO wish the beta was initiated much earlier and was more thorough but I'm definitely pleased they still do it at all in the days of devs releasing an unfinished product and letting the huge wave of initial buyers test it for them. I will apply again if it happens this year and will approach the task in a technically proficient manner even if many others don't take it so seriously. Seeing as the product is geared more and more towards casual players each year I'm sure that welcoming casual players into the beta is very useful as they will focus on issues serious testers might not think is important. Such as the quality of assists, lobby performance, camera views and general playability. Serious testers may focus more on track accuracy, gear ratios, setup performance, accurate handling cockpit accuracy, tire models etc etc.

    F1® 2020 | Announce Trailer

I'd love to see custom sponsorships and liveries available for the player car, not just generic fictional ones. Would be so cool to race against imaginative liveries on track, official sponsors just bore me sorry. Even if you can't use licensed logos an editor would at least allow for some creativity like full on Anime liveries for example. Myself I'd love a Bob's Burgers or South Park car even if I couldn't see any of it from the cockpit where I spend all my time!

    F1 2020 Breakdown video

Fantastic! Except I noticed you say the trailer has 'dropped' a couple times at the start of the video. I need to know if any damage incurred before I place my pre-order. Thanks! 😎
  16. Be patient. Give it a few more years and it will be once more included in F1 2024 as an exciting new option! They did that with split screen so will probably be the same with coop as well.

Codemasters beating your expectations with F1 2020 title

The reduced length season options are the same as what you already have with custom championships. Unless they are available in Career as well, which would definitely be new. Admitted it would take at least 1 or 2 minutes to create a custom championship at the moment and casuals just don't have that amount of patience so that's an exciting new option!

    Manual start buggy?

I do wish the game had a skill practice area where stuff like starts can be practiced over and over without having to restart the race like now. Codies could even make it a leaderboard as long as assists were separated. It would be like a drag race format. 0-400 meters or 0-1000 meters for example. Even better if they did it for each track. Places like Monaco, Baku and Singapore it'd vital you get a good start!

Oldie looking to join starter league with all assists on

You might be best starting your own league so you can specify assists etc. Presume you don't mind if other people in the league DON'T want to use assists? Of you're clean but not that fast you might find a few leagues happy to let you join.
  21. Even better get TWO of them and market it as a super rivalry for the next game. They can record some heated discussions for the post race interviews as well. In fact getting all the drivers in just to record some random radio chatter would be fun!
  22. Yes but it's not called "The Formula 1 Arcade Game!" it's called F1 2019 and is meant to tie in to the actual IRL series but the only thing it replicates is the names and liveries. The driving is so unrealistic its like driving a box with varying levels of grip that's it. Nothing subtle at all. Someone earlier mentioned down shift turning. That's called engine braking. It's on full the whole time when it needs to be adjusted for every track and probably turned off in the wet unless you like spinning all the time. You only have to spend a few minutes in project cars or rfactor to appreciate what you're missing. Iracing isn't that realistic actually but because they implemented tuning in a big way and have excellent racing rules it appeals to serious clean racers. Nothing wrong in making the official game playable on kid tablets but let someone else freely use F1 assets to produce a sim more like the real thing. The reason it's marketed for super casuals who prefer style over substance is not because that's the biggest market, it's cos it's the easiest as those people don't usually play a game to death and nit pick every inaccuracy. They just boot up have a blast then move on. It's when it gets hyped up to esports level that the dream is shattered. It's not even close to being a well regulated race game. If the game was modeled precisely on real driving the same way flying sims are, that's a huge market. Flying simmers pay stupid amounts of money for the right blades of grass next to their local airfield and the correct rivets on their planes. Realism is addictive beyond all understanding as it's IMMERSION. Escapism to the max. A realistic game could easily have a little brother add on making it accessible to casual people, a lite version of you like. There would be race schools everywhere with the game installed on the best hardware which people would pay to use. Admittedly the full version might be kc only and the lite for consoles but then you'd have TWO markets to exploit. Think about the raw excitement you'd feel sitting behind the wheel of a realistic virtual F1 car with no assists in the pits. You could tack on a financial back game so that costly damage would be a factor too. On or off on startup. I digressed somewhat but it's probably the richest sport worldwide and maybe the most popular across cultures and continents why CAN'T we have a sim as well as a game? Get those SMS guys working on the cars and tracks now for next year. A fully fledged F1 sim would be THE racing software every racer would have in their collection and you'd have endless official races and feeders as well as real life drivers training up beside you. It would be a BIG deal.

    No-Assists Learning Process

My tablet is glitching badly cannot reply or see what I'm typing in the above photo reply. So anyway note the green band in one of the photos. I used 2 elastic bands to compress the bubble wrap to stop it from just splurging out whenever I press the pedal. A total hashup 8 agree but it's effective and long lasting. Just took it out the closet to do some racing again 🏁😁
