    That's totally true lol although in almost every case where the monkey see phrase is used in modern times it is referring to intellectually challenged humans (or toddlers!). I think making fun of ignorant people who are 'deliberately' stupid is a great way to alleviate the frustration they cause us in our daily lives.

    I have a button assigned to look back to see a faster car coming especially if I'm blue flagged. Yes it's obviously fake but I'm not using it to go faster or block cars but to be courteous and get out of the way. I know there is another discussion re virtual rear mirrors being requested. Project cars has them. Iracing has them. Iracing puts it there so you have no excuse to mess up a faster drivers race. They punish every assist with time penalties and count the rear view as essential so I have no problem with it. Ironically whenever I watch the actual grand prix races on TV now everytime they switch to the tcam view I think UGH why can't we see an exciting helmet view. Not surprised so many people use it as it's exactly the same view they see on TV. I would not be at all surprised if a large portion of players actually believed that's the actual driver view. I don't mean to be offensive but "monkey see monkey do" right? Actually that does sound offensive I guess but there is no excuse to be ignorant with all the info we have at our fingertips these days.

    FYI on the first post video from 7:30 onwards shows the best example of how IRL the rear red flashing light is synced to the speed of the car giving great awareness of your speed when you can't see the sides of the track! Obviously not implemented in the game which has a simple fixed rate of flashing, completely unrealistic.
  6. Is it actually downforce or simple mechanical grip they are missing? Cars should be able to go round fast corners anyway without much downforce. Isn't downforce more suited to tracks with many tight medium speed corners like Monaco and Singapore? Or maybe it's both mechanical grip and downforce they are missing. Either way with tons of tuning and tweaking in project cars 2 I know for a fact that the setups just don't do what they are supposed to do in the F1 games. It's like when you change the camber instead of actually changing the camber sim style with the car the game adds an EFFECT similar to what camber would expect to do without actually changing it. As all tuning is supposed to be harmonious with other aspects of the setup the creation of a false effect in isolation from other setup effects would definitely create a sense of weird unrealistic handling. The cars are not supposed to either stick like glue to the track or slide off. There is supposed to be a continuous gradient of grip loss until the car starts to slip which can be tuned to the drivers preference. In project cars I can tune open wheel cars to actually drift (kills tires but it's possible) and if I push the car too much I can feel the rear wheels stepping out too much without me spinning out. I couldn't possible call the F1 games a sim or even simlike. That's not a criticism in itself as I don't think they were designed to be and most of the customer base don't care. Maybe its just us wanting the gsme to more like a sim when it clearly is not that makes us want to criticize the game when it falls short of simlike behavior in so many ways. I mean.. If it doesn't walk like a duck or talk like a duck.... It most likely is NOT a duck!

    We're probably going to get the same game except with updated drivers and cars. There will now be a full f2 season to compete in and a new MP mode which everyone will talk excitedly about before release but complain about after. Then it's some more MT and a couple of patches for 3 months then off to 2021. Full helmet and suit customizations will be on the major feature list. You may also be able to pick your teammate however you start career and coop mp championships might sneak back into the game with a different name, plus the leagues will have a few extra options nobody asked for. Kinda depressing ain't it?

    Yes some great ideas here but they pretty well describe an entirely new game built from ground up (I hate that overused expression BTW!). No company with an annual release game is going to take any risks with their next game as long as sales have been good for the previous iterations. With regard to fixing long term issues it's a software reality that if you fix 1 bug 2 smaller ones will appear after. Once the overall balance and playability is acceptable (yes the bar is set that low) then its cut and paste with new gimmicks for each 'new' game. It's NOT a CM problem exclusively, it's the same with any recurring annual license release. A new studio may well take risks with a lot of major changes but that's just not gonna happen here. Modding I believe is the way forward for the minority of us that want a better game but the majority are always going to be happy as long as the new game looks close to what they see on TV. Every assist under the sun : CHECK T-CAM : CHECK Driver names :CHECK Accurate PEGI 3 liveries : CHECK TV Music :CHECK etc etc you get my point sadly. Still great to see all the new ideas, someone somewhere out there will read them and take heed I hope.
  9. Providing as much info as possible is not required because the devs don't trust a bug happens, it's because they want to find the code that produces the error to possibly fix it. Screen shots and videos help the devs immensely as well. It might be a pain for a customer who has had their game compromised by a bug to spend some time giving all the extra detail, but it's the customers who take the time to create forum accounts and report issues who really help the devs the most to fix them. Making a negative YouTube video is one thing, making a detailed report here is another. Give them as much info as possible to help them do their jobs. If they ignore it then that's something to complain about but we can feel pride at least by being positive in a 'crisis' and jointly making an effort to improve our favorite racing series' only official game! Personally I welcome ANY input from CM on these forums, it shows they read them and are responding in the way we want them to, especially as asking for more info definitely means they take a problem seriously.

    Yes requested many times without response already, but no harm in being the squeaky wheel to keep this issue on the front page! T-cam view = Mario kart view. Cockpit = Racer view F1 already has a Mario type game, can't recall the title right now, it doesn't need another!

    Are you using manual starts? Just asking because I believe assisted starts make it easier. Not realistic but easier. Just a thought! Sadly the ai are robotic and never ever make anything other than a perfect start every time so you need to be perfect yourself just to keep up with them every time. Not your fault, it's the game.

    Totally sympathize with OP, if a patch makes a game no longer work as it used to there should be an option to either refund or roll back to earlier patch (and be locked to offline use only of course). If you had a car and the auto manufacturers sent out mechanics to regularly sneak into your garage or driveway to fix or change parts people would it like it but would put up with it in time as long as their car was improved for free. If however one morning you went to drive it and the windscreen washer fluid wouldn't squirt it would be very annoying. Especially if the car company said tough, car is still drivable you just need clean windscreen yourself. Not great example but software companies have been sticking it to the gamer for years now, only action possible is class action suit which 99% of time nobody bothers with especially with an annual game that will be replaced anyway next year. Other option is never buy a game on release, wait for GOTY edition or at least 6 months until it is fairly stable. Except.... The annual game will always suck people in on release who want to be playing the latest thing asap regardless of quality. We only have ourselves to blame people! A disk game could of course be reinstalled with internet disconnected and played offline without game wrecking patches... But then we can't show off to people we have it! Catch 22....
  17. Hey good video but if you want something to be done probably best if you describe the problem in the thread itself, preferably title if you can edit it. There are so many random thread titles just saying bug or issue Codies might not even bother reading them. As I'm already here I will say issue seems to be : Online (no idea what kind of race ranked or unranked etc) full grid most cars stuck after lights out except several allowed to race normally. Problem may or may not last the whole race. You could fill in the missing details maybe?

    Talking about 24hr Le Mans... Iracing has 24 hour races which actually run full length. Driver swaps are involved of course which makes it possible. Lando Norris ran a 24hr Twitch stream last week as both he and Max Verstappen were racing for different teams in the same race. Highlight was Max braking his ridiculously expensive brake pedal during his stint to much mirth from Lando... Multiple memes followed.... Yes of course they were using cockpit cam too.

    @Marty_K_. Your methods mirror mine exactly. It was like I was reading my own post! Crucial part is yes I also lowered ai from 70 to 50 when I first turned off all assists. Then after first season I was back up to 70. After 2nd season I was up to 80. It's not that its actually easier to go faster without assists but that you have to learn how to driver better as well as know every turn and bump in more detail. Once you can't have brake and throttle just full on or full off anymore or throw the car around like a Mario kart it opens up a whole new world of detail. It really is like playing a different game and an exciting experience with depth, learning and improvement to look forward to. When I used assists I couldn't do more than 25% length races as it just got too boring. Once I made the switch I went straight to full length as it gave me more time to practice plus make up for mistakes. I never would have imagined I could have driven for nearly 2 hours in a game before and been riveted to the screen so fully immersed before. Welcome to the real experience!

    AI in the wet - all circuits

    This may or may not be relevant but bear with me. Assuming I know how ai are programed in rackng games, it's not the ai themselves that are actually slower but the lines they are told to take by the programmers for each track. After playing many seasons in the previous 2 games and watching hotlaps by pro drivers I have my best lines ready for each race by now. The ai does NOT drive the same lines the pros use at each track for sure. A way of checking this is I believe the track acclimatization practice sessions use the ai lines to set up the gates for you to pass. This is so far off the best lines especially for example China turn 1 that I just can't make the gates without spinning off. The ai follows those lines for sure. Anyway my point is that you can't just adjust the ai to go faster at a certain track without either 1) programming better lines manually or 2) speeding the cars up or slowing them down with power settings. 2 is obviously unacceptable but a workaround. If the ai is too fast all you can do is learn their lines. If they are still faster then they actually have more powerful cars with better brakes and /or more ERS available. So the only way to make the ai level at every track (doesn't happen in real life as different cars suit different circuits) would be to make the ai car perform identical to the player car (huge cpu usage) and also have the best racing lines dialed in for each track. I think it is impossible for codemasters to do the above with current available console power. Only by fake lap time matching with different power settings is available to them. If a dev reads this and thinks I'm talking total b****x please let me know. It's not an easy task I know!

    Is Time Trial Redundant?

    Time trial is basically practice mode to learn the tracks but nothing else as cars handle so different and crucially there is no tire wear. So you can use ridiculously stupid setups that would destroy your tires in no time in Career or online. Although he's fast anyway without using track exploits I used a TRL limitless hot lap setup in Career once. I could not get out of the red in the tire management session. Was impossible to use.

    Actually these days whenever I see Monaco I think yay all new car parts. Cos. I'm gonna qualify last anyway so may as well switch out every single part for new. Last race I did there game said I had over grid penalty of over 60 I think. Still started same place... Last! My new car actually gave me a noticeable speed advantage so over the full race distance I actually made it up to 7th! With a gazillion flashbacks or course! Without flashbacks....... That should be a YouTube challenge!

    I actually feel way better now I know I'm not the worst Monaco driver in the world. I can beat the ai on level 30 at Monaco!! You're right about the steering in older games. Not much point in having all this extra so called realism if the cars don't go where you want them to!

    I've always been poor at it in F1 games. Have to half the ai level just to keep up. It's just me though as watched a streamer and he was just as competitive there. Funny you mention pcars I did an online race in Ginetta Juniors there couple nights ago and came 2nd not one wall scrape. All that high speed crashing in F1 games had given me an edge over the other drivers I guess in track limits!

    Simulate practice sessions (Resource Points)

    Just create new driver and test it out! You could simulate pretty much the whole year except qualifying and just upgrade your car ready for 2nd season. But as someone who HAS upgraded his McLaren fully in the last 2 games I really recommend you do NOT do that and just simulate the practice sessions if you don't enjoy them much. Trust me on this!
