    Pit Limiter question

@UP100 What do you think. Is this a technical issue? OP just to confirm is this f12019? Also what platform are you on?

    F1 2020 BETA - Process Closed

OK no problem I figured that was what you meant I just wrote that post for others maybe new here to encourage them to take part more in the forums this year instead of just signing up here, applying for the beta, then just disappearing. The forums need some fresh blood injected to keep them interesting and the beta sign up is obviously one of the major events that brings more people in to the online community here. That and of course whenecer a new game comes out. BTW I almost forgot.... DONE! 😁🤣😎

    F1 2020 BETA - Process Closed

Nah i don't believe this. If you're the right person then you get picked. As well as a selection of newcomers. It's too important to the final polishing of the game to be left to chance. But they obviously and quite rightly pick a wide selection of players. They dont just need tech heads the same as they dont just want random casuals. The whole point of public betas is to throw parts of the game out there that 'seem' ok to them to see what they may have missed. Sometimes it's something so obvious that it takes the guy playing for the first time ever to spot it : "hey how do I know which car I'm in? Only AFTER I select one will the game tell me!" Other times it might be the super nerd who points out the font on the advertising boards at Interlagos doesnt match the same advertiser at another track. Or in bright sunshine on a certain corner at Sochi the mirrors show the moon (ok I'm having fun here!) The game is after all meant not just for racers but for gamers maybe playing for the first time a racing game. Some people might be looking for kerb placements and track signs (you KNOW who you are!) while others want to know why the racing line assist is making them crash in the same place every time, or is not visible on a sunny day ff you're color blind. All sorts of people will buy the game so I'm confident all sorts will not only be invited but NEEDED for the beta. Which rules out a complete lottery. Codies won't want to take a risk and also they WILL want to take a risk to see what everyone thinks. My point (eventually!) being that @senna94f1if you're what they want then you'll likely be selected. Same goes for everyone who applied. If you really want to help out with future games and are not selected this time, that does not mean you'r not UP to the job. It just means you were either unlucky or not READY for the job. Now you've got a sign in take the opportunity this next year to give feedback, complaints and suggestions after you buy the game. Your ideas will make a difference and maybe next year it will be YOUR turn. It's a cool place to hang out here I can assure you! Best of luck to you all and may everyone stay safe and healthy.

Dropping from 100% to 50% Races

They might THINK it needs more concentration but i find it strangely relaxing with the race more spread out. You have way more time to react to events on track, choose pit stops, pass people ahead of you. Its not some crazy rush where you have seconds to make a decision. The same way a long cycle ride is more relaxing than stressful like a short sprint would be. I will have to call on that old faithful SIZE matters, or in this case LENGTH!

    I changed my gamertag

Ah sorry man and you're welcome. Yes if it is something Microsoft forced on you with bad timing that you had no control over you might get help maybe but you'd need to ask now before it's too late and the list is done. Try asking BarryBL maybe he's in charge organizing the beta this year? He's a helpful chap if it IS possible I'm sure he'd help you.

    I changed my gamertag

I'm pretty sure from previous years when Codies check applications they confirm gamer tags are working. If not that's an auto reject I think. If you changed it AFTER the closing time it should be invalid yes? You could try changing it back maybe. They have a ton of apps to go through so I'm pretty sure they need everything working as a pre-condition. I remember last year a couple people changed their tags before the deadline and the forum admin helped them sort it out in time. I can't confirm any of this sorry just trying to help you! Good luck!

F1 2019 Engine failure?? Newbie help!

That's right although it's entirely up to you how realistic you want it to be. That point about making a great turn was from human psychology. To enioy any learning experience we need to see reward for our efforts which encourages us to work harder and get greater rewards. If the ai is set too high you can do that perfect lap yet show nothing for it which is demoralizing and discourages us. That's why when you find that sweet ai spot for you every lap you experience several small gains and losses if you slip up. It's when EVERY corner counts that you start actually improving your game. So yeh hit that apex perfectly and gain a visible gap reduction. Miss it and the guy in your mirror inches a little closer to you. THAT'S the sweet spot write it down quick lol.

Dropping from 100% to 50% Races

Dang I can't stand those but you can't button mash cos it costs you dev time! It's so silly. The whole thing is based around the belief that your entire car development team is listening in and if you praise some people they give half price work time and if you don't they give you full price.. Can you imagine Lewis giving an interview and he says "great race but me daft wing wuz 'anging off half the ruddy time. It wuz reet crappy that wor"... Then his aero people thinking "wot a reet berk eh? Hammy wor callin' us reet daft eh.. Tha cheeky bugger!" Then they work to rule before his next race to get slower upgrades..... Nope! 🏎️🤣🙄 PS apologies for the accent right out of Viz Comic I couldn't help it sorry! 🤣 😎

Dropping from 100% to 50% Races

My next career I will stimulating practice and will use full qualifying as my 'practice'. Once you've done those practice sessions every race for 20 seasons you never want to see them ever again anyway! So yeh your method gives you maximum time actual racing and having fun and just tosses away the filling! 🏁😁

    F1 2019 Help - New to this

Start on 50 and every race where finish higher than expected raise it 1 point. If you finish lower and it wasn't due to a bad crash then Lowe it 1. After a full season of 20 races or so (remember those lol?) you will start to see it leveling off at your natural level. If you're really good it might take 2 seasons to level off. This way you will ALWAYS find your sweet spot. Every race you win also drop it by 1 point. If you want to know faster then use the binary method of calculating unknown variables. Not explaining that right now tho lol.

F1 2019 Engine failure?? Newbie help!

It should be set so that when you make a great turn you make a small gain on the car ahead imo. As long as it's a similar level team car. If you're catching them up driving poorly without trying that's not much fun after the first few wins. If you drive brilliant and they still pull away its too high. Ideally you should be doing the same pace as your team mate so that's a good indicator. If you beat him every time set a little higher ai and vice versa.

Dropping from 100% to 50% Races

You know you WANT to! Be honest you only posted here cos you wanted a few people to say yeh great idea that and it's brilliant. Except we didn't lol. Cos it isn't 🤣 It's really hard once you've raced 100 % to ever do less. You know all the things you will miss about full races and of course all your pacing and strats have to be changed and it doesn't feel 'right' somehow... I mean if you are enjoying a good race why would you want it to stop anyway?? The pure satisfaction of nailing that second pit stop and knowing you have 15 or so laps left to catch the leader. Settle back down into a good rhythm, time is on your side all you have to do is stick to the plan.... 😁

    My Quest to Conquer Monaco

I'm really slow there because I only use cockpit view, which is undoubtedly harder until you know the track inside out. So I don't compare my times with tcam hotlaps which would be depressing! Its also totally legit to blame the view when you suck anyway! 🤣

    F1 2019 Help - New to this

It's in setup screen when you're in the pits during a race session. You can't change them if you're not at a circuit. You can start switching back to older parts for practice as soon as you want. Engines and gearboxes you have to wait until 6 races is up from memory but the smsller parts you get several to start with so just keep a good set for when you want to go fastest. It's pretty easy to manage and the game will tell you BEFORE you choose a new part that will incur a penalty. Once you have upgraded your first engine /gearbox you can always switchback to the old ones at any time. Might as well wear them out in practice and save the good ones!
  17. sloppysmusic

    Braking Points

You mean artificial ones? If you look carefully most race game designers put helpful track objects right on this braking points and F1 is no exception. Look for camera boxes, marshals, tires, light posts anything you can use is useful. I found this the best method as I don't use assists as it looks less realistic. The sooner you start using own judgment the faster you will instinctively start braking at the right spot. There is nothing like crashing or braking way too early to help you learn fast!

    F1 2019 Help - New to this

Your team will tell you when you are allowed a free ICE or gearbox upgrade in case you forget its knackered lol. A worn out engine will always blow up eventually. You can order as many as you like but the next race you get a grid penalty. So if you're upgrading before you're supposed to legally make sure you order a lot of parts at once. There is no sure way to guarantee everyone gets a good career. A lot of it is trial and error so just use the first season to learn the ropes and experiment plus have fun! Just make sure to use older parts for practice and newer ones for qualifying and racing and you'll be good. I've said that so many times! If you have low reliability and parts wear out too fast you have to limit your practice sessions to important programs only.

F1 2019 Engine failure?? Newbie help!

It might not sound glamorous upgrading reliability compared to supercool power and aero upgrades but without them each race you get noticeably weaker and weaker which really sucks when you're trying to compete and get better. Fully upgraded reliability will lead to most of your car parts easily lasting HALF the season which gives you a huge advantage over the ai cars who see using clapped out parts basically. It just means the first season is pretty low key but that's OK as you need a whole season anyway to get acclimatized to the tracks, car and game /race operations.

    F1 2019 Help - New to this

Wow mate that's EXACTLY what I do too. I also do all price drop upgrades too first before spending money. Then the upgrades start arriving thick and fast sometimes several each weekend! The only problem with this method though is that only the middle game is a level field. For almost 2 seasons you're dead last, then you have a great sesson or 2 where you make some huge gains, climbing through the field race by race until you win your first championship. Then you can leave the field behind and have an OP teammate who you can't beat by season 5 when you are fully upgraded. Someone could write a whole guide on the different ways to play career depending on what you want to get out if it. My simple advice would be to just make sure you are loving the racing itself and set goals you can reach. I think the most fun starts happening when you stop thinking about wins and podiums and instead realize how much fun it is to battle against other drivers and teams on a level with yours. Finishing 14 a few car lengths ahead of your rival in 15 th feels pretty amazing. THAT'S when you get F1 itself, and realize there are multiple battles going on all the time around you no matter what your position.

So Dirt 5 is next gen but not F1 2020

That's true. It was mostly their successes with those games which helped them get the f1 license if I'm right?

    F1 2019 etc

@Bicarda Makes some sense here. I know it's ANOTHER email but it's really useful today with everyone wanting your email even for a can of dog food to have at least one spare dummy email. You make sure it has no private info linked and use that one for subs and purchases etc and keep your original one private for family, friends or work. Then if you start getting spam on the second email you can just dump it and create a new dummy. It's kinda like having a po box but for the internet. Makes a lot of sense online and offline keeping the less important people separate from your home address /email. These days we almost need customer support FOR customer support it's so unhelpful... 😩

Dropping from 100% to 50% Races

Hmmm.. They could speed up pit stops 2x. So the moment the ai took control of your car everything moved double speed. Yes I know it would look silly but at least it would solve most of the problems? 😎

    Practice Sessions

Are you running full length 2 hour practice sessions BTW?

F1 2019 Engine failure?? Newbie help!

I tend to do what some drivers do in real life to some extent. If I have a bad time at a certain track I cut my losses by ordering a complete new batch of engine parts (plus engine itself and gearbox). Then I reserve this for qualifying and racing and use the older parts for practice. Of course if you need a lot of track practice just to learn the track then yes definitely start by doing TT.
