Bring Paul Coleman to lead Dirt Rally 2.0

If the bugs in DR2 make the game "****", and DR2 is better than DR1, doesn't that necessarily mean DR1 was also "****"?

Dirt Rally 2.0 - Remastered Sweet Lamb

Undeniable proof that all you needed to do to remaster the stages for DR2 is increase the saturation! Easy! /s obviously

FFB things still to be fixed (Wheel)

The wheel actually does loosen up, at least on gravel, if you really turn it hard to make the front wheels lose traction and start sliding. However, it's quite a subtle effect, and usually masked by other things like your rear wheels sliding too, in which case you'll feel the self-aligning torque pulling your wheel in the direction of the slide, overpowering the understeer effect. So I'd argue that the understeer effect is present, but maybe a bit too weak. It could do with looking at, but is lower priority imo. On the other hand, there's not really any feedback to tell you when you've locked up the brakes, which is super important, especially on tarmac. This is something that definitely needs to be addressed. In DR2 you won't really feel much if you land straight, which makes sense imo. It's when you land with the car turned left or right that you really feel it, and I believe it's the Self Aligning Torque very suddenly pulling the wheel to the direction the car is moving (which is not the same as the way it's pointing). What are your FFB settings? Most people report the FFB being improved by setting Wheel Friction to a very low value, like 5–10, as otherwise it adds a dampening effect to all the feedback. Then, have the Self Aligning Torque at whatever value works best for your wheel, such that it tells you what the car's doing, but isn't making you struggle to fight it. The Suspension setting should just be set to simulate the level of surface feedback you like; for my Logitech G29 I have it set on 45 or so I think – again, enough to inform me, but not enough to constantly shake the wheel out of my hands. Tyre Friction can be set around the same level as SAT or Suspension, it doesn't really matter – it's a very subtle effect that doesn't add much anyway.

Technically correct: the best kind of correct!
  6. Agreed with the others here, you really need proper analogue control of the throttle and brakes, and imo the only practical way to do that is with the triggers, and using the face buttons for changing gear – I used A and X on my X360 pad. Yeah, it'll feel weird and uncomfortable for a while, same as any habit change, but it really is worth it.
  7. Yep, seen it a few times. Even won a championship because of it 😄

    Season 1 Germany

Could just be you're a better driver now 🙂 Regarding the missing Tornado, it actually seems the whole place has been 'demilitarised' – the trucks are no longer a nice olive drab colour, for example, and instead look like old civilian ones.
  9. However, if you rewind the replay a bit then play it back, the animal no longer appears.
  10. If you're driving at 120mph and you shift into 1st gear, this happens: I.e. not a lot. The tachometer gets a bit confused, but otherwise nothing bad happens. The car should at the very least become very unstable as the wheels effectively lock up, and ideally there should be severe, possibly terminal engine damage. At the very least it should just not shift, same as if you try to shift without the clutch.
  11. If we get DirtFish and a bit of box-smashing I'd... actually be kinda ok with that.
  12. Even more of a problem than in DR1, even, because you can shift sequentially much faster in DR2. Beyond that though, there’s the simple act of downshifting one gear when you’re already at redline – even this should be enough to unsettle the car and damage the engine.

Season 2 Info, will there be a season 3

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that – you can already buy a season pass for 1 and 2 combined.

ffb fixed, some comms from devs

You should try these sliders in isolation in DR1. They don’t really do much. Tyre slip only makes the wheel go tight when you dump the clutch from a standstill in a RWD car, and Engine barely does anything at all.

Do you really not understand how it's possible to remain polite and respectful and yet still get your point across? People tend to clam up and ignore you if you're rude and rant about things. If you're polite and respectful, they're more likely to listen to what you have to say, and not get distracted by the way you say it. It's fine if you get angry or annoyed, or are having a bad day or whatever. Just don't post then. Wait til you've calmed down, and can write things in a calmer tone, and your posts will be much more effective.

About what? Your hyperbolic tone? You said You're saying that's not hyperbolic? That's it's a fine way to communicate, a way that's likely to get people to engage in productive discussion about the problem? "At once"? Really? Good grief, get some perspective, life does not revolve around you. And what do you mean you had the game stopped from the first week? It's been perfectly playable since launch, barring Racenet issues. If a missing FFB effect really made the game unplayable for you, that's your problem, not the game's.

Look, I agree there should be some feeling of looseness when you lock your front wheels up. The issue I have with your posts is the ridiculous “omg worst game ever” tone of your posts. It makes it hard to take you seriously.

Those are settings specific to gamepads:
  21. The Suspension slider won't affect the feel of the ice, since it's smooth and flat anyway. The Self Aligning Torque slider adjust how much you feel the loss of grip on ice compared to snow and tarmac.

Assuming that’s even possible and that it’s not, for example, every 127th grass texture that flickers, or something like that.

Your FoV setting might be the same for both screenshots, but it’s very obvious that the actual rendered field of view is different between them.

    WE NEED A RE-LAUNCH - let's brainstorm!

I completely disagree. If an opinion is based on ignorance, misinformation or unrealistic expectations, that opinion is worthless. This is a problem with too many users’ reviews, on Steam and elsewhere. Far too many of them are based on next to no actual play time, just knee-jerk reactions and “it’s bad because it’s different”, plus making mountains out of molehills with regards to the online requirement.
