DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Would you say overall that handling is closer to DR or D4? Because I seem to remember the comments on D4 pre release saying that d4 was even more of an accurate simulation.

I agree though I'm not familiar with the rest of the Irish tarmac championship rallies. Ulster has some amazing roads lined with hedges, walls , muddy apex' s and plenty of lumps n bumps. It would be a great challenge.

I think Ulster or circuit of Ireland tarmac rallies would be a great addition

Yea my heart sank in G.B when a marshal told me Tanak had binned it. Pretty sure I knew then who would take the crown. Been a good season though.

Yep I agree that's what will happen. But maybe because of d4 trust issues a more candid approach earlier may assist pre sales

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

They did mention that road deformation in rainy conditions will be extremely challenging. So they did mention it.  They mentioned it would be difficult but not how it differs for different road position. And there's nothing spoilt kiddy about a new implementation. For me it's a great thing to have to whatever degree they've used it.  However I think the concerns are whether it's another half job like 'your stage' was. There's no issue it's a great move forward though. The specifically said that rain with a degraded road would be a real challenge.  I know that, I've seen every release and watched every video but they certainly haven't gone into any detail. Or not enough for me anyway. How will dynamic weather (If featured) effect things. What stages of deformation are active for wet weather?, is it still a 3 stage system or is it less clear cut than that? Will rally events feature a day 2 reversal of running order as in WRC? And how does surface degradation work on sealed surfaces. It's been quite vague, I'd like to know more.

Phase 1 and 2 of the deformation I'm not too fussed about progression. But phase 3 (rutting/cambering) should have progression. Car 11 and car 50 should have different levels of stage deformation. Also it would be nice if the second run through a stage has progressive ruttinb too

In response to @jorritvd I think the road deformation has been more or less limited to 3 effects. Whilst I hope I'm wrong on that I don't believe there's been any information eluding to progressive deformation within the three main types. Hopefully codemasters can clarify.....? Also there's been no mention of the deformation effects in different weather conditions or sealed surface..

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I'm not being quite as cynical as @ludwigvonmises but I get his point. But to me I only feel cheated by D4, that game as a rally game was awful. But they've only burnt me once and I'll  happily give them another chance with this. Dirt rally was what it was. I loved it, it's just a shame there weren't more miles. The surface degradation thing is something I've dreamed about for a long long time so I'm happy it's being implemented at all but I agree three types of deformation isn't enough. But if it works maybe we can push for double the amount next time round. So for me I'm placing my faith once again in codemasters hands. I do hope however they remember what a disaster d4 was and are more transparent with us soon. Need that info on stage miles good or bad. Even if it is only the same amount of miles an explanation of why that is so would be appreciated.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I agree completely with @rodgerdavies. Though I am getting this game no question I did feel burned by dirt 4's promises. I would like codies to be more open about the game. I know that drip feeding info is all part of the marketing roadmap but there are some crucial bits of information that in my opinion should be laid out very early on. Particularly in the case of unique stage miles. This is a huge point for me as although I still play DR1 the stages get incredibly repetitive. I will certainly be disappointed if they haven't at least doubled it. I mean I'll still buy it but I'll  be a bit miffed if it's only the one stage again.

I personally don't see anything wrong with including a car as pre order only. I have no qualms with people disagreeing with that methodology but it has a track record of securing pre sales which are important for companies nowadays. And it rewards us fanatics with a new toy.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

It's referring to including the first two DLCs and says each DLC includes five early vehicle unlocks. I imagine it's meant to be five vehicles, but that's not what it says. The 5 early unlocks are already in the base game. With the deluxe addition however, you don't need to earn them through building up currency etc. The dlc seasons are paid for optional extra content including locations and cars not already in the base game. Yes, I'm aware of how DLC works. But if you read the press release I linked to, it says 3 new locations and 5 "early vehicle unlocks" per 'season'. I'm asking if that's a mistake. Ah I see where you mean. I think since they said "vehicles unlocks" it seems theres a typo issue somewhere. 5 vehicles per season seems an awful lot imo given there will be 50 cars at launch. The fact that it says early access possibly means that everyone will get the same cars but unless they paid for the deluxe addition then they will have to earn them using in game currency

I'd love peugeot 206 and 307 for a bit of variety preferably with the old WRC colours, however impossible that may be.

I would hope for double unique stage miles. I mean DR was an experiment. This is a fully fledged release and they came under a bit of fire for limited stages. I can only imagine the would've listened to that

I agree: I didn't want to jump to conclusions too quickly with regards to having a new car in game though!  I don't think they'd dare use an old 911 sound for a modern RGT car with you waiting in the wings pal. If it's genuine that Codies are there then I think it's relatively safe to assume more Porsche content. Here's hoping. Car list looks to be shaping up really well. Hopefully there's more 'leaks' to keep us busy

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I think if they can get the license for the RGT then they can get the license for the older 911. And it would be a wasted opportunity not to use it. I'd be more excited to drive the old 911 than the RGT personally. And I cant imagine they sound the same.

The livery editor was very limited in D4 so if they implement it, it should be much more advanced or simply don't have it atall and just give us plenty of great bespoke liveries to choose from.

USA seems like it could only be gravel but it seems like too many gravel stages at launch. Perhaps snow but it's a very left field choice for a snow rally. There are good tarmac roads in New York state for instance but again it would be unusual.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

USA is either tarmac or snow, if you don't count that as loose. Two things:1 - I don't think Codemasters would ship a rally game without a snow location in the base content. Unless they intend to send a message on global warming? I still defend SnoDrift as the real-world rally that's replicated.2 - Does anyone know of a tarmac rally in the US? I don't. If someone does, please tell me so that I can look it up. If they did a tarmac US, it would be fictional. I think it's safe to say it won't be conventional gravel rally. Tarmac maybe. To say there's no tarmac rallies in USA is daft, it's a massive country plenty of opportunity . I can't see it being snow.
